Ilana1 12-31-2011 12:38 PM

Happy New Year everyone! Since I am just getting started on IP (Day 3), we are going to stay in tonight. Too many cravings and temptations at the New Year's parties. ;) Working on goal setting for the upcoming 90 days and for 2012. Wishing all of you an amazing 2012!

Busymomx4 12-31-2011 12:50 PM

Hope everyone has a great new year's eve.

Just staying home, kids are allowed to stay up til midnight (not sure if i'll make it though, lol). We've barely seen any of them since they all got their new laptops for christmas, lol.

Was playing Wii Dance party with my daughter yesterday...quite tiring, and my daughter who is so nice...kept laughing at me telling me i looked silly (she's 10), i guess she's not used to seeing me be able to do stuff that needs me to move that much, lol.

Wuvs Mom 12-31-2011 12:52 PM

Happy New Year everyone!! Have a safe and fun time. Looking foward to 1012 should be interesting. This journey is to a new and healthier you. Stay strong. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!

Bellamack 12-31-2011 12:54 PM

Wow! The end of another year, where does the time go? We are also staying home, I never trust other drivers on New Years, so we always stay home.

It is unusually warm in upstate NY, 46 degrees, unheard of! So, hubby & I just finished taking dow the Christmas lights, we usually don't until end of Feb or March. lol. I also took down the indoor decorations, now I have to dust and vacuum, yuck. It always looks sooooooo bare after de-decorating.

I can't wait to make it to my goal in 2012. And a big Thank-you to all of you who helped me get this far. God Bless You and have a Healthy, Happy 2012!

Trinique125 12-31-2011 01:05 PM

Happy New Year Everyone!!

Just had my WI and I'm down another 2 lbs yayyyy
This time I will make my goal, never been there, tried for 8 years on WW because I thought it was the only diet out there for me. I was soooo wrong. So happy I started IP. My goal can finally become a reality. My dream can finally come through. 14 lbs in 5 weeks AMAZING

Have a good day everyone:)

Wuvs Mom 12-31-2011 01:12 PM

O WOW!! I must have started partying early. 1012 really!! LOL!!!!!

galpal445 12-31-2011 01:16 PM

This is my first day on the forum but my 4th week on the Ideal Protein plan. What a great way to start out the New Year. Am looking forward to getting rid of my excess weight once and for all by using the Ideal Protein plan.

Happy New Year everyone!

DanafromAustin 12-31-2011 01:35 PM

Happy New Years everyone!!! :celebrate:

Since the weather is so beautiful out today and they lifted the burn ban (major drought in TX) we have decided to BBQ tonight and then later we are going to the movies. We will be back in time to watch the clock in Time Square on TV.

Hope everyone has a wonderful and happy 2012. This will be the year we all reach our goal - amazing and wonderful.

Pamelama 12-31-2011 01:48 PM

A beautiful last day of 2011 here in CA. 65 degrees, sunny, beautiful. Spending the evening in with the family tonight. Maybe watch a movie. Doubt I'll make it till midnight, haha.

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year! May there be "less of us" in 2012.

Having a bunch of kids over tonight for a bonfire and fireworks! Bought hotdogs and buns and stuff to make s'mores for them. I usually let the kids drink sparkling grape juice out of my champagne glasses. This is a typical New Year's Eve for us. I'm making stuff I can eat early and will just bring it out by the fire when it's time to eat. We aren't big drinkers anyway, so that definitely won't be an issue. I can't drink around my children. I guess when I'm in parent mode, I can't just relax and have a beer or a glass of wine. Been that way since the first one was born. It's not anything that I set out to do, it just happened. Happy New Year's Eve! Be careful and mindful of those who don't make good choices tonight.

ptod 12-31-2011 03:27 PM

Happy New Year! New Year - New You (and me too ;) )!

Wishing everyone continued success in the new year!

Let's celebrate every day - :carrot: :broc:

Last year the snow was deep by now....this year it forgot to show up. Weird for our part of the country. Hmmm. Found a favorite drink combo that keeps me verrry happy. Soda water with equal parts of Torani's Black Cherry sugar free syrup and Chocolate sugar free syrup. Taste like chocolate covered cheeries. Yummm. Will be staying home for New Years. Its just too crazy in this resort town. So Happy New Year everyone. I do have a interesting question though. It is an odd one. I wonder if fat has memory? I will go from happy to sad and back again for no apparent reason as I lose the weight. I know weird.

Interesting: I too get mixed emotions, but the feeling of being in control, finally, is so good. I am sad sometimes to be letting go of the "fat old me". The "new me" is what I believed I could be. My dreams of a "slim me" have come true. And it can for everyone.

I have to admit that sounds like fun! I'm not sure if it would hurt or help the bursitis I currently have though....

If you are 100% on plan, you most definitely would have been in ketosis by Wednesday.

Angelique06 12-31-2011 05:34 PM

I would like to wish everyone a safe & Happy New Year.

This is the first year we are going out as we usually stay home as it is our daughter's birthday. We are getting together with all our friends from "the lake", I was hoping not to "reveal" myself until we all go camping in May, however I am so looking forward to seeing each other sooner.

Gini - funny you should mention this as I just read an article on cell memory and obesity that one of the UWMC physicians is participating in. I'll see if I can find the link. It was pretty interesting. -Shelly

Here's the link to the article on obesity and and how it changes the brain - sorry I said it was cell memory. Anyhow, it's interesting.

Happy New Years everyone... I will be at work all day tomorrow. So I hope that I will get to hear all your party stories!!!

newmom7611 01-01-2012 01:26 AM

Happy new years everyone!! Well I've been driving 45 mins (one way) to my clinic for weigh in every week... And I just found out that there is an Ip clinic--- ON MY STREET!! Omg when I called the closer place the woman laughed nicely at my story then told me to start going there. I'm going for a "final" weigh in and to get my folder so I can transfer smoothly. How foolish of me!! I'm going to save so much gas and time. I cancelled my weigh in last week fir an interview so I have no clue how much i am down :( I'm so anxious!!! I have never cheated, so I wanted that smile and the good feeling of a loss during the holidays... Oh well. Big loss Thursday I hope! Good job on losses for everyone!

sekc14 01-01-2012 09:38 AM

Why is it difficult to come back to IP after already having done the program? I'd like to take a break from Ketosis over the summer and then start up again in the fall. The threads I've read say to keep going until you've lost all the weight and don't go OP. Has anyone successfully gone 6 months, transitioned off for awhile and then successfully restarted IP to finish their weight loss journey that would recommend doing it that way?

JoLoMN 01-01-2012 10:06 AM

JellyMae,

Sorry to disappoint, but no party updates from me. My family and I went to church last night and I think I was in bed sleeping by 8:15 PM. I didn't even manage to stay awake for the Bourne movie I was watching, let alone see the NY Times Square ball drop. Well, I did remain OP, so for me, my new year's quiet, sleep-in celebration was fab!

Anyone have any great resolutions to share? Here's some of mine:
(1) Exercise - strength train 3 x per week; do lots of cardio - at least 3 x per week, but may always work in more
(2) De-clutter my house - love the changes in my closet due to IP - need more of these changes in many areas of my home
(3) Explore cheaper cable options - need to learn more about hulu and netflix to lower my cable bill - with all the IP changes in my life, I'm home less to watch all those channels, and I feel I need less clutter in this area as well
(4) Reward myself for Maintenance (on Phase 3 now) by purchasing an ipad so I can continue to be rejuvenated by this wonderful community of Ipeeps

Happy New Year all!
Jo

JellyMae87 01-01-2012 11:28 AM

I was looking at the iPad as well... I saw it for a pretty decent price at sams club.... My birthday is in 2 weeks!!

JellyMae87 01-01-2012 11:30 AM

Also. If anyways likes to read people magazine.... It's a pretty motivational issue. It's all basically about weight loss and different programs.... But I loved all the before and after pictures!!

I'm so glad you are going to be able to get to your weekly weigh-ins much easier! I too drive 40 minutes each way to see my coach. But even if I found one closer to me I wouldn't change it. My coach is in my primary care physician's office and she checks with my doctor if something comes up that may impact my health. This makes me feel like I am being very well-cared for.
I just don't go every week for the weigh-in. I chose to go for 3 weeks this time between official weigh-ins but may go to every other week so I don't have to wait so long.

I hope you find your new coach to be absolutely wonderful!:)

I can't address the issue with the IP diet but I CAN say without a doubt that I have stalled out trying to return to other diets. Atkins was the last one I tried to return to after going off of it for a while. I just could not make myself get back into tracking all my carbs and figuring out net carbs or trying to find something crispy to eat (celery just doesn't do it). I didn't want to give up my simple carbs (candy, cinnamon rolls, homemade bread, potato chips, etc). I just couldn't make myself do it.

It's kind of the same as quiting smoking. If you quit and never start again you begin to get used to feeling better, breathing better and finding other things to do with your hands. But if you quit for a little bit and then start up again you never get to the up side of not smoking. You have a hard time trying to quit again because now you know how truly difficult it is to stop smoking, how crappy you feel while you are quitting and you don't want to give up the high you get from smoking. You never got to the point where you felt so much better NOT smoking so you just don't want to go to the work of trying to quit again.

I'm hoping this makes sense to you because I truly believe it would be a mistake for you to stop following the IP plan for the summer thinking you will restart it in the fall. Once you start eating all the food that got you overweight in the first place you will have a very difficult time giving them up again. Plus you will most likely gain any weight you had taken off and have to start all over again. But it IS your decision and only you can make it.

Have a great day!

Are you talking about totally going off IP or are you talking about phasing off into maintenance? Why do you feel a need to take a break from Ketosis? Judging from how much you have left to loose, it looks like you might get to goal before summer anyway.

I don't think getting back on IP after stopping it before you reach goal is any more difficult than any other diet - all diets are difficult to restart. I do speak from experience too. I have been on lots of diets, but Atkins and Jenny Craig are the too I lost the most amount of weight on. Both of them I fell off of the wagon about 40 to 50 pounds into it. I was never again successful about restarting either of them again and of course I eventually gained back all that I had lost plus more. I call it the golden rule - it's never the same as the first time around. For that very reason I'm not stopping till I reach my goal and then phasing off into maintenance. This is for the rest of my life otherwise I will end up just as I have before.

SekC, At the risk of being much less than subtle, I wouldn't be worried about summer yet. It's barely January. If you stay on plan and don't cheat, it's likely you can be at your goal by then. It's only going to give you an excuse to fail if you focus on doing or not doing what many of us have told you is going to be difficult. Focus on doing what is best now,

The reasons it is difficult vary for each person, but the reality is that it is.
