Heinz Reduced Sugar Ketchup? Okay or not?

  • 1 gram of a carb, and 1 gram of a sugar, 5 calories?
  • It all depends on the ingredients. If there is sugar in it, then 'no'.
  • Its what I use, I looked everywhere for a totally sugar-free one and that was the best one I came up with. At most I use a small amount once a week, sometimes none at all.
  • No sugar, but there is something called sucralose. Which is in some of the IP ingredients.
  • I looked up on line; 0g fat, 5 calories, 1g carbohydrates and 1g sugar

My coach was pretty clear if i wanted to use anything had to be 0 Calories, 0 Carb, 0 Sugars (though she did say up to 5 calories would be ok once a day in a drink mix)

Why not just try the Walden Farms Ketchup?
  • I use it and it hasn't been a problem for me. My coach doesn't have a problem with it either you just have to watch your portion and make sure you aren't getting MORE than a tablespoon. The sugar and carbs come from the tomatoes, which are acceptable on the diet.

I personally loathe the walden farms ketchup so I use this as a substitute. I have it no more than once a week, like Bella, and often I have none at all.
  • I used this ketchup the whole time I was on IP (maybe once a week) and it didn't hurt me. In fact, it's still all that I use. The first time I went out to eat after hitting maintenance, I used some of the regular ketchup and was struck at just how much sweeter it was than the reduced sugar stuff.
  • I've been using this (the WF ketchup is disgusting!!) and I haven't had any problems. I don't use it everyday or in excess at any time though.
  • Sucralose is Splenda which we are allowed to have. I have it and just use less than the recommended serving.
  • what are you guys eating that you need ketchup? just curious, i haven't even thought about it since starting the diet.
  • Beef, big mac in a bowl, 97% fat free kosher all beef hot dogs.
  • 92% lean ground beef patties and big mac in a bowl.
  • IP chicken nuggets! Crush up some of the SW cheese curls and bread small pieces of chicken with them (dip in egg first - chicken, egg, crumbs). Bake at 350 on a cooling rack on top of a cookie sheet (so air will circulate around it and it won't get soggy) for 30 minutes. YUM!
