I see a lot of people substituting ground poultry for the ground beef. The only ground beef I use is the 96/4. Are the ground turkey and chickens really leaner than that??

Default Yves veggie ground???? Phase 1

I've been making my big Mac in a bowl with the yves veggie ground. I like that's it's lighter than meat and it's healthy. Anyone else incorporate this into some meals??? I hope it's okay cause it's Sooo good

I cook my ground beef and then drain it, then I add the pickles and onions and dressing and mix it all together and put it on top of my lettuce and spinach.

GrandmaKiss, I have had beef in some form or another on an average of 5 out of 7 dinner meals a week and am steadily losing The other 2 nights is chicken breast and fish (tilapia). I buy the leanest ground beef I can find when I make a dish with ground beef. I buy several 1 pound packages, then divide them in half, vacuum seal in 1/2 pound packages, and then freeze.

Big Mac in a Bowl is one of my favorite things to do with it. I had tried ground turkey years ago and absolutely did not care for it. Have never seen or tried ground chicken.

Has anyone else noticed *better* losses when eating beef? I actually prefer seafood above all other forms of protein, but I think I have a trend of better losses on beef-heavy weeks.

I have noticed that eating fattier cuts of beef such as porterhouse or rib eyes hasn't slowed my weight loss. I like a fish a lot, but my favorite is chilean sea bass, again a fatty fish. Plus we have salmon at least once a week, so actually have a fair amount of fat in my protein. I compared those weeks to those when I would have more tilapia, chicken breast and pork tenderloin (the other white meat) and see no difference in weight loss.

I do see a slowing if I:
1. have too many carbs (1 restricted bar/day, or even overdo the veggies - the veggies have carbs!).
2. don't get in 100 oz of water/day (64 oz is just not enough, big C is a lifelong problem)

I just made this for lunch and I used lettuce, spinach, diced cucumbers and green onions. I also used for the first time chili pepper dill pickles. YUM!!! I loved having that extra spice!

So I suppose if your not actually on IP, this would be a cheat from your regular diet right?

Everyone is making me want this for dinner! I Haven t tried ti yet but Monday night it is going to be my dinner! I think that the beef is actually good for you because you get some animal fat that seafood and chicken don't have. Personally I love fish and tonight is mahi mahi night, the fish so good that they had to say it twice!
Now my big question - I thought that we were told to eat one restricted item a day? This isn't protocol? Someone help!!!! I dont know what my life would be like without my snickers, aka choc caramel bar, every day!

I use ground turkey as a matter of preference, sometimes I'm in the mood for beef and sometimes not - haven't noticed any negative effects either way

You ARE supposed to have one restricted every day. Some people are extremely carb sensitive and the restricteds can have a negative effect, but they are the exception not the rule. Most of us need a little carb boost

Here's one I found: http://idealproteinrecipes.blogspot....c-in-bowl.html

I tried this my second week of IP and was really excited about it. However, it was so awful that I threw it away. I was totally bummed. Nothing can get me past that WF dressing flavor. If you make this, I recommend keeping your beef separate and trying it with the salad so that if you don't like it, you can still eat your protein and make a regular salad to go along with it.

Hope you enjoy it, though!

I make mine with ground bison. I usually just have it once a week because I have a lot of other favorite dishes I like to make (chili, pasta sauce w/miracle noodles, chicken tika, blackened tilapia, pot roast with rutabaga and celery, bison tacos on romaine heart shells).
