Phase 3 Length

  • Hi all,

Today is my first day of Phase 3 and I love it! Breakfast was amazing this morning, though it was hard to eat all the required elements before getting full.

I tried searching the forum for the answer to this, but didn't come up with an answer from any of the post, so I'll post here... I was wondering if anyone has done phase 3 for less than 14 days while maintaining good results? I was only on phase 1 for 2 weeks, and phase 2 for about a week and a half with a total loss of 16lbs. 14 days makes sense for someone who has been on IP for quite some time, but it just seems very extreme for only being on the diet for 3.5 weeks total.

    Thanks in advance!
  • I also met my first goal quickly and had to phase out because I'm going on vaca & to a wedding & didn't want to be in any phases! I asked my coach if I could do phase 3 for a shorter time and she said no, but I'd be curious to see what others on here say because I'm finishing day 7 of phase 2 and would like to go to phase 4.

I also lost more weight during phase 2 &3 so far & was expecting to gain a little! WOOHOO!
  • Okay so if you go to the stickys and look up the phases section there is a phase 3 sheet on there and it gives you the answer. Here it is.

Phase 3 is a concept unique to the Ideal Protein Weight Loss Method and arguably the most important part of the Ideal Protocol. This phase always lasts for 2 weeks (14 days) This phase is very simple as the only difference between Phase 2 and Phase 3 is the morning meal. There are three major objectives in this Phase and successfully meeting them will almost certainly guarantee the client long term success in his / her lifetime weight management. These are:

You will have to go to the stickies for the rest...
  • I am in the process of phasing out in preparation for vacation and I did phase 2 for 1 week, phase 3 for 1 week and leaving for vacay on Thurs. I am getting back on phase 1 when I return to finish.

I did not lose any weight on P2 or P3
  • Stickies
I dont understamd where these stickies everyone keeps mentioning. I cant find them, can someone help me?
  • They are at the very top of the daily thread.
  • Thanks 2Ride. I know all about phase 3 and that it is *supposed* to be 14 days. I was more curious if anyone had good results with less than 14 days.
  • I plan on doing it for 14 days because after however many weeks on the plan 14 days seems minimal. I'm not a breakfast fan so it will be hard but I can do anything for 14 days. I don't want to be responsible for flubbing the whole plan up just by skipping a week on a phase where I can actually eat more.

I know that's not what you were looking for but I think those who want to maintain do the program to a t.
  • This is my understanding about Phase 3.
You are re-introducing your pancreas to carbs.
You are trying to re-train the pancreas.

In order to do this, you want your pancreas to spike ONCE a day.

I have not either and I'm phasing off for vacation as well.

I will be doing phase 3 for 2 weeks though. I'm 5 days in an already sick of the huge breakfest and how horrible I feel after. A couple days I couldn't even stomach lunch so I just had a shake..

I Am eating the All- American from the sample plan... This used to be my fave breakfest pre IP... now I don't even wanna think about eating it.
I think I will try the Nature Valley from the sample plan tomorrow..but I would rather have a peach than the berries.. anyone know if it is ok to switch fruits??

Yes! You can have a peach instead of the berries...the important thing is that you have a serving of fruit.b

The ONLY time Phase 3 is less than 2 weeks is if you have a medical issue or other event that warrants the need to phase off the protocol immediately. Otherwise, it's 2 weeks, regardless of how long you were on Phase 1 & 2. It does retrain your pancreas, but it also retrains your eating/lifestyle habits. Phase 3 is the bridge between IP foods and whole foods, so if you want to maximize your odds of success at keeping the weight off, those 2 weeks are the key.

Fruits do differ in their nutritional values. I think some people track total numbers and others just say have an "exchange" so to speak of the required items.

Thanks This breakfast looks much easier to prepare in the morning as well... Its been kinda hectic in the morning making my breakfest, getting my son's breakfast and lunch ready and all the other craziness (like trying to get ready to go to the gym so I can go right after dropping my son off to school).. Yesterday I almost forgot to make his lunch!

Calorie/carb wise peaches are less.. BUT they also have less protein. I'll be using greek yogurt so that should even things out. If not I'll add some flavorless protein powder to it.
