Question Bouncing Back After Disappointing Weigh In

Hi Everyone,

Well, it finally happened. For the first time in 8 weeks OP, I did not have any pounds or inches lost this week. I'm disappointed and puzzled. I'm trying not to let it bother me but it's hard not to think about wasted money, effort, etc.

The only thing that I noticed that was different this past week was that I was really hungry when I woke up and it just got worse throughout the day, with only brief reprieves after lunch and dinner. I didn't do anything substantially different in the way of eating or exercise (30 minute walks every morning). My coach says it may be because I've been waiting 1-1.5 hours after waking to eat my first IP meal. She suggested I eat a restricted item within about 30 minutes of waking, so that I keep my metabolism up. She says this will keep the hunger down the rest of the day. I sure hope she's right.

What do you all think? Have you noticed anything different when you ate breakfast soon after waking?

Thanks,

Karen

Karen , I just had my 7th weigh in and did not lose any pounds, did lose 3 inches. Now I look at my signature and out of 7 weighins, 2 were 0 losses and 1 WI was a +1. I have lost 23.5 pounds in 7 weeks, so I guess that is ok. I am feeling a little down today too.

Now to the hunger issue, I have been HUNGRY all week! Afternoon is terrible! Today I had celery and cup of green tea and am about ready to start supper. Water is not helping.

I really don't have an answer for you but since we're both around 8 weeks into this program, maybe the hunger means we are losing weight, the scale just hasn't got the message yet! LOL

Karen, don't be disappointed. Your body is changing in many ways that are not noticed. It will show the next time. The point is YOU DID NOT GAIN!!!! that right there is great!! If you are staying OP, its just your body adjusting to the weight you are losing. My 9th week WI I had a gain and was totally OP 100%, I literally cried on the scale when she told me. Then she explained how much our bodies have to change to accommodate the weigh losses. Keep your chin up, you will get through this and you haven't wasted anything!!! You have gain the knowledge of eating properly and healthy!

Hey there!

I can totally relate. I have had a few pretty bad weeks despite being OP. This week was frustrating because I cut out restricteds and still did not see any sort of "make up" for the previous weeks. We are both right around the same weight/time in the program and it seems like this is pretty common.

Keep your head held high and realize that we have all gone through a ton of change at this point and our bodies sometimes have to catch up. YOU CAN DO IT!!

Your body is in healing mode... You won't lose each and every week. Look at the big picture, and see how far you've come in such a short period of time. Things will move again soon... Just hang in there and don't do anything to sabotage your success.

This is what I don't understand, I have written down everything and the calories and it is only 800-950 calories, so how can I not be losing more? I also do moderate exercise. I just don't understand, certainly shouldn't ever show a gain, but it does sometimes.

I was told to eat within the first hour of waking too. I think no matter, there comes that WI that isn't what we'd hoped for. I know the disapointment, sorry, but then again you're in with a whole boatload of us. Welcome Aboard (sorry)

Ditto. I keep a food journal and my calories are sufficiently low to lose 1.5 - 2 lbs per week. I am not strict IP, but my carbs are pretty darn low too. I lost .25 lbs and no inches. I have been gaining / losing the same 2 pounds for about 2 weeks. Woke this morning, sure I would have a drop, and it was back up the formerly "lost" 2 pounds. I have hit a plateau that is difficult for me to break through, with 8 pounds to go.

It is not what I wanted, but I AM happy with the progress I made while I was on IP (I have to do some sort of alternative now). So, I will take what I got and move forward. Something has to give, and since I want it to give in the right direction (lower #s all around, scale and measurements) I am going to keep on keepin' on. The alternative is to not keep on . . . and not see it give in the right direction, right?!

Just remember weight loss isn't linear, it just doesn't work that way. Keep IPing . . . it will come =)

Cheer Up, Your Weight Losses are much better than mine

I refuse to give up, I just want to find out what is going on and tweak what needs to be tweaked and keep on going. I hope it means I will maintain better, because I have lost slower. There has to be some perk, n'es pas?
