    I've been doing an Alternative IP diet for 5 weeks and I have currently lost 21 pounds !! I have been reading this site daily and figured it was about time to post. I've been kinda chicken since I Am not on the program but I do follow it ( I do tweek it a little to fit me but I have not stalled yet so its working )with products from EAS, Atkins and Nashua Nutrition. I figured I would try this way first and if the pounds didn't start falling off like they are for all you gals I would find a center and join.

    I hope to be my goal weight when my hubby comes home from Afghanistan for R and R in Christmas.
  • Congratulations. And welcome. You've done great so far and I'm sure you can reach your goal by Christmas when your husband comes home. I'm counting on it because I want to lose even more by then and I'm positive it's possible.

    How did you lose the previous 71 pounds?

    (B) thanks to your husband for fighting for us -- I am sure you will knock him off his feet when he sees how slim you have gotten. are you telling him? or will he just be surprised?
    (C) I am going to start buying some of my products from nasua, alternative sources.. what do you recommend? how do you tweak the diet?
  • JackieGee I lost before doing more of an Atkins style diet and before that South Beach Diet. I work out 6 days a week 5 of those being weights and cardio and 1 just cardio. I had a personal trainer make a program just for me in the last few weeks and it has been working great!

    I always wake up and have a shake before working out (at 430 am) When I come home most of the time I will either have egg whites with veggies or another shake. I eat my protein for lunch in a salad with buffalo chicken I grill myself and shred (yes buffalo sauce has alittle calories but I don't use any dressing.) I will usually eat my veggies as a snack in between lunch and dinner and have a shake for dinner. I do eat about 30 minutes before I go to bed but it is never a lot. Sometimes its half a serving of soy puffs or a couple pieces of chicken if I'm feeling hungry I will have another shake.

    I prefer EAS shakes and Atkins(i will only have the Atkins in the morning before working out)

    I've only gotten the flavored drinks so far and puffs from Nashua since I have just been drinking Choc lately.. I really prefer EAS though so far.

    I do not have restricted items all the time. I still have not had any pudding,bars,cereal, or pancakes. I Am kinda fearful I will stall out.

He made me send him a picture of this new outfit I got the other day and he couldn't believe it was me. He tells me he brags about me all the time over there and that he is so proud of me. That really helps when I see that pizza I Am dying to have.
  • Ha, well since you cant keep it a secret from him, you need to buy a hot outfit for your first night out when he gets back then post a picture for us!!
  • Congrats to you! Yes, thank you to your husband for serving, I have 3 immediate family in the Marines right now, one just returned from Afgan in June.

    I lost weight on South Beach as well and then moved to IP protein. The low carb approach does work well. Plus like you I got a trainer and go to a daily boot camp workout and weigh in.

  • LOL AuburnKate. Even though he is coming home in the winter I Am already looking at dresses I want to wear to pick him up in. When I get to where I want to be I'll make sure to post some of my choices .

    Bellamack it is so hard to have family that serves.I thank them for their devotion to serve and protect this country we live in.

    I have known for awhile that low carb was my only answer to weight loss. Believe me I have tried everything since I had my son and gained a ridiculous amount of weight. I prefer a strict diet over one like Weight Watchers or calorie counting.. since I would be able to figure in bad food and just eat food with less calories to make up for it.
  • Hmm..well in personal experience: I ordered off nashua and have tried several things:

    I order a whey protein shake off of nashua called Syntrax Nectar in the fuzzy navel flavour and it literally tastes like you are drinking orange punch for breakfast..its amazing..cause i hate hate hate whey shakes..i can taste the yucky chalky taste of whey easily..but this one is the first one i have ever found that tastes the closest thing to juice and i couldnt believe it.. i mixed it with a friggin spoon and it mixed right in!! so its good cause it has 23 grams of protein 0 fat grams and 0 sugars and 1 carb i believe..Its awesome!! and 100 calories


    Nashua:

    Proti diet puddings= awesome dessert tasting things
    Proti diet caramal nut bar= not what i wanted..i thought it was peanut..but it was walnut
    Proti diet chocolate covered soy puffs= Delicious treat!
    Proti diet salt and vinegar soy puffs= funky flavour..tastes too soyish to like it
    Proti diet maple oatmeal= slimy texture but tastes okay..wouldnt order again
    Proti diet blueberry pancake= dry and rubbery..wont order again.
    Healthsmart soy salt and vinegar crisps= where's the vinegar and salt flavouring?
    Proti-diet chicken soups= Love love love love love..so warming and amazing!

    Anyone else tried any???
  • Glad someone chimed in about what they bought! I'm a creature of habit... I usually eat the same thing everyday.. I'm okay with that. I really want to try the pancakes with WF syrup... but if I like them I'd prob be eating those babies everyday lol.

    As for protein shakes/drinks.. it seems like i always go for chocolate. I did like the mocha latte atkins kind when I was on another diet and had them before the gym.. but I think they changed the consistancy of them... because they are NASSTTYYY. I was thinking they were close to expiring but I got them at 2 different places
