Woolberger- happy to hear that you got your dad off okay- how was your trip?
The babies in my avatar are sister's identical twin girls that she had at the beginning of August! There is nothing like the feeling of holding two little babies at once- I loved it! Well... I haven't been on here in a couple of days, just found myself running around until it was time for bed. I've been making a concerted effort to go to bed earlier and it has been really helping with my mental agility and fatigue hunger but it doesn't leave me with any 'free time' in the evening. Will be able to be on more during the day this week thank goodness, I really miss being on here! Pxlkitty- The challenge officially starts tomorrow, correct? This is what it was telling me when I was on there... so I hope I got it right... LoneLoser- A meeting once a month for those in Phase 4??!!?? So glad we have this forum- definitely a big thanks to woolberger for starting it and to all of you for participating in it! I can't tell you how invaluable I think support is in any part of life; no matter what it is, it's always easier when there is someone else going through it with you. And to here about everyone's challenges and victories in the maintenance phase has been so helpful... |
Has anyone tried these from New Lifestyle Diet? Chocolate Ready To Go Shakes. They look more convenient than the IP RTD because they have a screwtop lid and you add water... This looks like a great option for traveling.

Laughing a bit at myself right now- I keep thinking tomorrow is Monday rather than Sunday, I don't know why I would want to cut my weekend short...
Thanks Pxlkitty... |

I felt like crap all day yesterday. I missed my vitamins on Friday night and wasn't sure if that might have had something to do with it. I also didn't sleep well. Anyway, this morning I was scared that I had gained weight. Stepped on the scale and weighed 145.5 with my nightgown on. Weird given that I feel I've been stuffing myself with food the past few days. I know I should stay off the scale...

Do you think the free/cheat day is worth it? I feel yucky and I don't think I like P1 the day after. It is supposed to be mandatory and I've only had the cheat day twice now.

normal. My guess for the cheat day is that it's mandatory to give us one day with higher calories so that our metabolism doesn't slow down (just my guess). Maybe it's possible to have a "cheat day" without going totally overboard. Or make the cheat day more about avocado/salad dressing than full-on carby junk??? |

The first couple of cheats we went all out....White Russians, appetizers, pizza, ice cream (can't remember what else). Anyway, we felt OK the next day, and went right back onto Phase 1 for a couple of days. Each weekend we have been enjoying our "treat" day, and then the next day we faithfully go back to Phase 1 for a couple days (or just watch our carbs). MY experience has been that it takes until Thursday or Friday before I'm back to my starting weight. I weigh myself each morning and mark it on a calendar so I can keep track of how it's going. Hubby has had the same experience with his weight. Yesterday we were disussing how frustrating it is that it takes almost an entire week to take the weight off, and wouldn't it be nice to only gain a pound or two (as opposed to 3-5) over the weekend, and then take it off by say Tuesday!! Today is Hubby's Bday, and we'll be heading to our BFF's house for football and to celebrate! They will be making a deadly chocolate dessert for him (and we knew they were going to), plus there will be a meal and alcohol!! We both decided that today we will NOT go overboard. I know they're serving meatballs, so we'll be having meatballs and no bread. We will partake in the Birthday cake (actually it's Choc truffle....ugh), but plan on only having a little. As for the drinks, usually we have White Russians, but to cut down on calories/carbs we'll do 100 cal Margaritas instead. We're hoping tomorrow morning will be a positive experience on the scale!! LOL!! As frustrating as it may seem to have to "eat better" all week, it is certainly well worth it to see the numbers on the scale not keep going up and up and up!! As a matter of fact, I weighed 164 yesterday morning...one pound less than my goal weight....go figure!! :smug: If you ask any skinny person how they stay so thin, I think they will tell you...."if I gain weight, I watch what I eat until the extra pounds come off". This is exactly what IP is teaching us. Have a treat, but watch what you're eating until it comes off. I know I've said it a dozen times....but IP has changed my life....absolutely amazing..... Best wishes!! |
Hi, I'm following this although I am not near maintenance yet because with any other plan I've regained instantly. So I am already planning ahead.
As I am older and will be smaller than most IPers I'm wondering if anyone does a cheat meal instead of a cheat day. Like Disgirl mentioned, I wouldn't want to spend the whole week trying to get back to the precheat weight. |
Hey maintainers, I always read your thread to prepare myself for when I get there as well. Would you do this? / how would you handle this? I have two important events I am trying to decide how to do this for cheat days. I will be in Maintenance by this time.
Saturday, November 19th, My daughter's first birthday party. Thursday, November 24th, Thanksgiving and my birthday Have you ever spaced your cheat days less than a full week apart? I appreciate your expertise thank you so much! |

______ Also, this was part of a topic on Dr. Oz. a week or so ago which I found very interesting. They were recommending the same thing. I'm not sure that Dr. Oz was on board with the creator 100% but here are his (Tim Ferriss) reasons: 1. Pigging out once a week improves for example thyroid output, very important for women and mothers 2. Pigging out makes the diet sustainable, people don’t have to give up their comfort foods indefinitely and that allows people to be strict 6 days a week. There was a little more to his method about grapefruit juice and squats etc etc but I thought I would share this portion. |
Good Afternoon Everyone,
I am still in Branson and fly home tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to the challenge. I generally follow the phase 4 guidelines but have never really done it perfectly. I'm pretty sure I will have to start my challenge with a few phase I days. I have really tried to be good here but it is amazing what comes when you order a chicken salad with dressing on the side. I have to say that I was not as specific with the server as I was on phase I but really; avocado, tortilla strips, cheese and it was gigantic! Loneloser-I've never been good at Cheat days either. I'm more of a tracker and weigher. If my scale goes over a certain number, I go back to phase I/II for a few days. Disgal-I love reading your posts! You are your DH are quite inspirational. I've been trying to talk my hubby into eating like me but he is not now and never has been overweight. It's a tough sell. Determinedat47-Congratulations on getting to phase 4! Hope you will stick around and share your experiences with us. Sunnymae-We lost togetther and now we can maintain together. We can do this! Brandam-I missed you! Glad you will be checking in with us. We are starting a maintenance challenge tomorrow if you would like to join us! Cap-Your nieces are gorgeous! I don't think I have ever held two babies like that. I do routinely hold 2 chihuahuas:). Pxlkitty-I have ordered the RTD's from Lifestyles but haven't seen the RTG before. Looks interesting. Let us know if they are good. So for the challenge: Should we be checking in with each other here on this thread or should we be communicating on the fatsecret site? Hope everyone had a great weekend. |
