100% OP and a GAIN...?!

  • Good morning, everyone! Tomorrow is my weigh in day. I have been 100% OP and I got on the scale this morning and I am up ~0.6 pounds! This is really discouraging... TOM should start Monday 8/27... could this be the reason the scale is showing a higher weight?

I'm really frustrated... and I haven't even had any restricted items the past few days, so I'm more than 100% OP, really... has anyone else experienced this?
  • Yes TOM can cause you to retain a little more water than usual. Totally normal. Just stay OP, drink some extra water this week, it will come off!
  • Throughout the course of one day my weight can fluxuate 2 lbs. yes, 2 lbs!
I even invested in one of those fancy pants scales that measures body fat and bone mass and such.
    Don't stress.
  • I know the feeling. It IS probably TOM, but it will be ok. Continue to stay on proticol and it will come off. My first weigh in I lost .6 pounds and I was pretty discouraged too. I was 100% on plan, but didn't lose much. I think our bodies need time to adjust...and it will work if you stay on it!
  • Don't be discouraged...I have been OP for 68 weeks now and GAINED 1.2lbs this week.....100% since day ONE..it happens, your body is adjusting or you are retaining water just keep going
  • I second what everybody else said. The week I started IP was the week before my TOM so I lost a measly 1.4 lbs. Then came week 2 which was the TOM and I lost .6 lbs. Just 2 lbs in 2 weeks while being 100% OP. I'm hoping for better losses this third week now that I don't have to deal with all the other extras. Oh, and did I mention I was coping with the big C during the first week as well? I was really discouraged and even planned to talk to my coach about quitting but she analyzed my losses (however small) and persuaded me to stick it out 1 more week. And I'm glad I did! I don't know how much I've lost yet but I do feel lighter and emotionally better knowing that I didn't quit. So hang in there, things will level out in the end.
  • This happened to me a few weeks ago - i gained .8 pounds, the next week I lost 1. I'm 100% OP. No reason for it - it's just your body adjusting.

I agree with everyone - this is a process, they'll be ups and downs. Just stick with the program and it will come off.
