Water chestnuts and bamboo shoots

Allowed or not? I am going for mongolian BBQ for our anniversary and I was scouting out veggies I could do - what have you heard about water chestnuts and bamboo???

No water chesnuts - way too high in carbs. I don't know about bamboo shoots... Just looking at the nutritional information for them though, I think they look okay. Just make sure to keep an eye on what sauces they use!
