I too have PCOS, Insulin Resistance, and Hypothyroidism -- a combonation to be overweight!
I was diagnosed at 15 and have struggled every day with my weight. It is so funny to hear others who do not have these same struggles go on and on how exercise will do the trick. You just need to get moving. I, along with many others, have tried pretty much every diet in the book ... and yet have never lost the weight that I need to. I agree, exercise is needed for everyone because it is good for your body, heart, etc. So, definitely keep doing it, but for those of us with "other" conditions that affects our weight, we can't lose it!
So -- when I heard about IP, I went to the information session. I was so happy to hear them talking about insulin resistance. Prior to this, I have never heard anyone ever mention it, other than my doctor. So when they said that this is focused on people with insulin resistance, I felt like this was my one miracle to get the weight off.
Since starting a while back, I am down 30 lbs ... I could not believe it. 30 lbs ... that is a lot of weight!!! Years and Years of diet and exercise got me around 7-10 lbs ... that was it.
My only problem, is I am having the worst time staying OP! I do really well, then I cheat and I fall off the wagon. I am finally back on, I gained about 5 lbs back from falling off, but I know that I can get it off and the rest!!! I am determined. I have a goal in mind -- plus a hefty reward for reaching my goal!! :)
This diet DEFINITELY WORKS for us with "conditions" :)
