Hi all, I am a complete newbie and not quite sure where to post this.
I am on day 6 of IP and it seems to be OK except 1 little thing . I am ravenous! I have been trying the snack either in the afternoon or after dinner. Yesterday was starved 2 hrs after lunch so I had the snack in the afternoon. I was starved in 2.5 hrs. By the time I had dinner, I had a good dinner and woke up starved this AM. Am I doing something wrong?
How many packets a day are you having? And are you eating any of the restricteds yet? (bars, snacks, etc.) If you have a great deal of weight to lose, you may need to be having 4 IP meals, and on your first week, you can (should) have up to 5 per day. Let us know some additional info, and we can help!
Getting me through the hard days the unlimited lettuce with some WF italian dressing helps through the hungry times..
Also try chugging a big glass of water, and doing something to keep your mind busy.
Hope this helps!
thanks for the quick responses. My typical day (yesterday) is 16 oz h2o with supplements, then coffee w/ cappuccino mix in it then 24 oz h2o. Lunch would be soup or drink with a lettuce w/WF Caesar. During the day another 24 oz h2o but then starved so I eat a bar. dinner last PM was steak, spinach and some cauliflower with another 16 oz h2o. I drink a few additional glasses of h2o trying to fill up to no avail.
I am 5', 167 and trying to lose 35lbs. I am in ketosis according to the ketostix, but on the low end of the scale.
BTW, this is day 6 of IP. the headaches are gone at least!
During phase 1 Dill Pickles during the day for a snack saved me! It was just enough to get rid of the hunger, and hold me over until lunch or dinner, I still have one every day. I'm in maintenance since April 1.
That might explain your afternoon hunger then...especially on the days that you only have lettuce. On phase 1 you need to have 2 cups of veggies with lunch and dinner, with unlimited lettuce. Sometimes I spread my lunch out...eat the IP pack first, then eat my veggies an hour or so later. This keeps me going until supper time.
Let me know if you need a copy of the phase 1 sheet, PM me your email address and I will send it to you. (Your coach should have given you a copy of this). I hope this helps.
Thanks Brummie,
As I posted the lettuce/spinach it dawned on me maybe that was the mistake. I did get the sheet but it wasn't explained in detail to me. I had a pretty rocky start. After I signed up the next morning I called to tell them I was no doing this as I had real issues with the coach.
I am a very curious person and asked a lot of questions at the consultation. the first coach was aggressive and kept challenging me. She said "maybe this isn't for you" when in fact, SHE wasn't for me! It took a good night's sleep to figure that out that this wasn't going to work for me. Then when I called, I spoke to another coach and she was great. Unfortunately the first one didn't talk me through me the basics and the second presumed I was good to go. As the old saying goes " I didn't know what I didn't know"
WOHOO!I think I 've got it. Today for lunch I had my salad first, very little lettuce, mostly veggies then a soup. My tummy felt much differnt and much happier. Hopefully it will stay that way.
My Coach told me that it was important for me not to be hungry. If you are hungry, you can have some extra protein (hard-boiled egg whites, low-sodium cooked ham, an extra packet) but only when and if needed. You could also munch on celery and dill pickles.
Make sure to follow the protocol sheet, have all of your water and take your supplements.
I find that hot drinks are better at supressing hunger than cold ones (teas, coffee...).
Also when you wake up in the morning have a big glass of warm water with some lemon before you start your breakfast. Also give yourself some time in between drinking your water and having your meal. This will reduce the period of hunger pangs in between meals.
The first glass of lemon water is also great for constipation. My grandmothers old trick

That's great! Glad to hear it worked out. Here's to another great week OP!!
Thanks for all the encouragement and tips. I made it thru the day but by the time I went to be my tummy was growling again :-( This is what I get for splurging big with carbs before I started IP. :-(
