question about my weight loss?

  • I have been on IP for almost 11 weeks. I have lost 45lbs and honestly thought that i would be smaller after losing 45lbs.

I seem to be losing on my upper body but my lower body looks MUCH bigger than the top?

has this happened to others? I was wondering if you went through this, when did the hips/butt/ and legs catch up?

Also I have never in my adult life been under 200lbs. Now that I am in the 180's I am wondering is the weight loss going to look more noticeable with the smaller numbers on the scale? I mean, after losing 45lbs I wish I was smaller. When I go from 180-170lbs will it be more noticeable? and then from 170-160 even more noticeable?

I look back and KNOW I have come really far, and know it is not a race, but my wedding is July 23, I was really hoping to be smaller by now.

    Thanks.
  • My wedding's July 23rd too!

And yes, those ten pound losses will become more and more noticable each time the smaller you get. Don't get discouraged.

the same thing happened to me. i've been on for 22 weeks and i am just now starting to lose from my thighs and legs. it didn't really become noticeable until the 160s for me. i've been skinny on top since the 190s, then my hips started going in the 180s-170s, and now, finally, my legs and arms. i'm almost into the 150s, and i'm hoping that the real weight will come off my legs and love handles there. i've lost 72 lbs and i still feel like i should look much smaller after all that! but stick with it and your body will catch up!
  • Unfortunately the body loses weight where it wants to. In women this often means the upper body leans out first and the lower body later.

    Great results so far!
  • I get married July 23 as well!! That makes three of us... anyone else?

I am the same way. I put a picture of myself today beside my before pictures and I can't really see a difference, yet people tell me otherwise.

The inches showed I lost most from my upper body, at 50 lb loss (before I went crazy off protocol) I had only lost 1.5 inches from my calf and 2 from my thigh, and over 20 in my upper body. I think we all lose it differently. And I think the extra skin that seems to hang around makes us feel bigger than we are.

Hang in there! Together, we can ALL do this!!
  • I'm still bigger on my bottom half than I want to be too. Grr. I did expect that though so I'm not surprised. It is why I dropped my goal to 140 though. I was quite sure I would look like I wanted to at 150. Good luck I'm sure you all will look beautiful on your wedding day!
  • All I have to say is...July 23rd is an AWESOME day!!

    Tis my birthday...LoL!

But I have lost in wierd spots myself! thighs...calves...wrists, and chest/back... The rest...doesn't look like it's done anything since I started IP...LoL!

So hopefully it'll get there...I'm sure it will.
  • Thank you all for your kind words. I hope the other July 23 brides will experience awesome weather.

Laura...Thank you. I am glad I don't feel alone. I am hoping with the next 10lbs I will start to see some weight come off my hips, butt and thighs.

You have done amazing! Have u worked out at all? Strength training really helps with loses inches/toning, especially for the legs/thighs...and interval cardio is the best. I'm just in my 3rd week and I am thinking that excercise is much needed.

WOW!! Congrats on the 72lb loss that is wonderful.. can i ask u if u always were on IP 100% during this time, did u work out, etc... I am finding that during the week at work I am okay, at night it depends how i feel but sometimes i tend to eat a bit more chicken than I should, but the weekends are my biggest problem... any advice????
