Just Started

I just started the Ideal Protein Diet on Monday. So far I have lost 15 pounds. Today is the hardest yet.. I am craving pizza and ice cream badly.

My name is Vanessa and I am 31 yrs old. My husband is doing this diet too so hopefully we can stick with something.

My biggest suggestion is just to stick with it. The craving will only last so long but the benefits will far outway caving into the temptation. Keep thinking back to the way you felt when you stepped on the scale and saw the 15 pounds gone. Every WI gives me the drive to get to my next WI. Luckily, there will be some cravings that you can still feed. If you get a craving for a type of food, eat something in the same flavor profile. For example, I love mexican food. If I get a craving for mexican, I can cook up a little chicken and pablano peppers and add a little cumin, and put them in lettuce leaves like little tacos. Toss on some cilantro and maybe some home-made pico and you're set. You get the mexican food to fill the craving without the cheating. You'll thank yourself when you step on the scale.

I just started on Monday aswell. I'm with you on the pizza, but sticking with it.
My main problem now is getting down the veggies.

longhorn96 05-11-2011 05:07 PM

I just started Monday too! Are you doing the "real" IP program? If so, just think how much you have invested. You can't take this step and not see it through. You can do it!

ifeelwicked 05-11-2011 05:35 PM

I believe I am doing the real IP. I am seeing a nutritionist. Is there another version of this diet?

It is hard for me to get all the veggies down too!! I am so not a veggie person, but the past 3 days I have just choked them down.

Mizzthingaling 05-11-2011 05:38 PM

Welcome! I am in MS too. You can do this. The cravings pass, stick to it. Being at your goal will taste better than any pizza.

I guess I meant are you using the IP products and following it the way you're supposed to.

You can do it!!! I'm in my 7th week and have lost 23 lbs. I'm concidered a a "slow" loser but I'm totally thrilled with that amount! Trust me, I LOVE food but this diet is really worth it. Btw, I'm in MS too, Ridgeland. What clinic are you going to for the IP products? There is an alternative option to "do it on your own". Basically you can buy the exact same products online for much less but the offical policy of the IP is that they have to cut you off if you do. I suggest starting out with the nutritionist for a few weeks until you get in the swing of things then doing it on your own if you want. Good Luck!

I am going for my first consultation tomorrow and plan to begin Friday. Pretty nervous about downing all the veggies as well.
Quick question: Must you eat 2 cups at lunch and again at dinner or can you spread it through the day for extra snacks?

I just finished my first week on Monday and have lost 5lbs. I am EXTREMELY proud of myself for losing the 5lbs since I don't think I ever lost that much with any other diet program. I've been lucky and have not had any side effects or cravings. I am trying to be strong and committed to this diet plan. I hope I will reach my goal.

I started IP last week and I go in for my first WI tomorrow morning. I'm hoping it is good because I miss my carbs and some days feel like torture. About how long will it be before the cravings die down?

ifeelwicked 05-12-2011 03:29 PM

I live in Starkville and I see Dr. Allen. He is a chiropractor/nutritionist and I am following the Ideal Protein diet sheet he gave us.

so far 4th day I have lost 17 pounds.. not sure how but I am not questioning it :)

SweetTreats 05-12-2011 05:20 PM

I just started IP this week and so far so good.
No headaches yet and I'm pleasantly surprised at the taste of the food.
Anyone know if chicken/vegetable broth is allowed? Or just the water/coffee/tea on the list....
Thanks!

cartwheelmama 05-12-2011 06:58 PM

I started May 1, and had some moments in the first week, but I just kept telling myself that this is a short term deal. I will someday be able to eat a slice of pizza again, but just in moderation not a half of pizza :)!

losingitbaby 05-12-2011 08:21 PM

You are guys are definitely inspiring :D I'm waiting for my shipment to arrive...

THANKS! :)
Excited after my consult with RN Ann. She looks to be in her 60's and has body of a teenager!! Starting in the morning with the meal plan she made me. I have 12 days of meals & snacks all packaged and labeled to get started. She was great. Also bought Walden Farms Raspberry Vinagrette and Asian dressing/marinade. Considering the maple syrup and peanut spread as well.

Day 2

Day 2, and I have had a headache all morning. Will make sure to get some salt in with my lunch. Craving french toast, Pepsi, and mashed potatoes and gravy.

First mini goal is to lose 20lbs - that will put me at 199. Plan to treat myself to a massage as a reward. No more food rewards!!!

I LOVE IT!! Maybe I'll start mini-mini goals and treat myself to a trip to sephora.com. :D

SamanthaF 05-16-2011 12:42 AM

Oh nice! Sephora is so great - we just got one here last year. What other kids of rewards do you guys get yourself?

pselias 05-18-2011 06:44 PM

Wi1

WI1:-5.4 !!!!
Can't believe I lost that much my first week considering I also had my period and a plantar faciitis flare up (feet have been super swollen)! Also lost 2" from each thigh. Stunned.

Also must say - I loved the vanilla peanut bar. Tastes like PB and marshmallow.

pebbles123 05-18-2011 08:27 PM

Today is day 9 for me. I had my first WI yesterday and I was down 7 pounds and a total of 8 inches all over my body. It is still a little hard to believe.

Today I am seriously struggling. I can't stop thinking about cheese. What I wouldn't give for a variety of cheeses, some water crackers and a nice glass of wine right now...

Oh wait! I know what would give! I would give up about 3 days of progress and potentially blowing the whole thing because I "slipped".

So instead I will get on this forum surrounded by like minds, who are struggling with rich cheese/pizza/ice cream cravings and have myself a cup of green tea and perhaps a cucmber sprinkled with sea salt...

here's my list, although I admit I tweak it when I think of something else I want! :)

-7: pedicure
-12: fake tan (spray)... I am WHITE WHITE WHITE and hate wearing shorts!
-17: mani/pedi
-22: haircut, bikini and brow wax
-27: hair highlight?
-32: massage (I have gift certificates)
-37: expensive jeans/shoes/shirt (outfit)
-42: tatoo/pierce (not sure on this one)

Good girl! I've been having a rough couple days too. Craving pizza and bakery stuff (like banana bread and stuff). I'm NOT going to ruin this though. No way. No how. WE can do this!!!

2RIDEROLLERCOAST 05-18-2011 11:35 PM

I waited until week 10 but I make a pizza every week without cheese and I look forward to it... see recipe sticky there is a taco pizza and a chicken pesto pizza I made up when I had a craving. I love to try something that is similar to the food I use to eat but healthier. It is more a flavor palette that you are missing so I when I have a craving I try to figure out what I am missing and I try to make something with it.

mini goals, I have put them at every 25 lbs... first 25 lbs is to get new sleeper earrings (haven't found the ones I like yet) 50 lbs I am going to get my hair cut and maybe colored. 75 lbs (haven't decided) 100lbs a dog tag necklace with my two dogs paw prints... can't wait.

ifeelwicked 05-19-2011 10:47 AM

Second week of IP and I had my period.. of course right? .. I have been craving pizza for 2 weeks now..all I can think about... I have lost 24 pds .. but I really want a pizza..

Susie_Bee 05-19-2011 11:24 AM

Ice Cream Craving: I am told that puddings make great frozen treats (I haven't tried it yet).

Pizza craving: apparently, there are "pizza" recipes posted in the recipe thread (crust made with crispy cereal). You should have a look.

Hang in there! It isn't always easy but the results are so worth it!

Also remember: this is NOT a forever diet: it has a beginning (phase I), a middle and an end (maintenance)! The discomfort is only temporary. Stay tough and you will be able to eat your favorite foods again, without cheating or guilt, sooner that if you give in right now!

Do you want to stall your weight loss? :) Nah. You don't want a pizza. You want to see another big loss next week! Stay strong!

My best advice to get through cravings is to have something else that's allowed on the diet, but you also like. Steak, or fish, or your favorite veggies. Herbal tea with Truvia. Black coffee.

Also, think about that 15 pounds. How awesome is THAT? Totally worth suffering through a craving or two, right? Especially since there's another 15 right behind it. :-)

sunflow321 05-19-2011 11:48 PM

Wicked - I'm in Hattiesburg for the summer, but I go to State! When I come back in the fall, we should be weight loss buddies!! Don't think about pizza, think about how good it's gonna feel to be skinnier! Woo! You can do it! (Also, I love Wicked! Are you an Elphie or a Galinda? I'm such an Elphie!)

I am considering a tattoo for final reward too! Hubby also said he'd take me on a shopping trip for new wardrobe. Supportive spouses rock!

sweet1forever 05-20-2011 11:41 PM

Today was my first day. I totally thought today would be the easiest...so wrong! I have had a headache most of the day and feeling a little nauseous, don't know why. Biggest challenge is getting in all the water. The last few hours been craving carbs.....cake and bread :(

sunflow321 05-20-2011 11:51 PM

:hug::hug: You can do it, Sweet! We all can - I was so sick my first week, I wrote love letters to cheese and bread and ice cream to distract myself. But then, I thought about how awesome it was going to be to actually weigh less than my boyfriend (I have a thing for skinny guys, hehe :D) and I stuck with it! I just started my second week, and I still miss bread (he was a great friend, LOL) but I know I can do this, and if I can, so can you! It gets better, PROMISE. Stick with it!

pselias 05-23-2011 09:18 PM

Resisted bread and cake at a banquet I attended this evening, as well as the soda and popcorn being served during an earlier meeting. Thought about how my face has thinned out and how awesome it is to be losing the chipmunk cheeks. Makes saying no a little easier. The double chin is the next to go. :^)

W1:-5.4

Lost 3 inches from waist in second week!!! 10 pounds down in 13 days. Ordered a little something from Sephora to celebrate! :carrot:

W1: -5.4 W2: -4.6

I started May 3 2011 and have lost 10.2 lbs. My biggest obstacle is finding the strength to be strong during get togethers where there is lots of food. Week 3 included 3 potlucks where I was not successful in self control. I paid for it on the scale and lost 2 oz. It was a good reality check and have been determined since. Here is hoping to strength.
