Big Mac Wraps

:carrot:When I've had some left over ground beef I've made Big Mac 'wraps' in lettuce. It really feels like a cheat.

ggsmile 08-25-2012 07:34 AM

i eat this 3-4 nighst a week. it is soooo filling!!!

cyndie 08-25-2012 12:17 PM

While I am waiting for my WF Thousand Island to arrive I have made this several times and it's always fantastic! It tastes like I am cheating, but I'm not. I have tried it with mustard and my own Thousand Island concoction and with WF Ranch. It's always good. Many thanks for this great recipe. It is a weekly staple in my menu. I use chopped romaine in place of the iceberg. Still tastes like a Big Mac. :D

Dresa 11-06-2012 04:43 PM

I am planning my meals for starting IP next week and I don't think I can wait....I might make this tonight for lunch tomorrow. It sounds amazing!

amberjules 12-04-2012 03:30 PM

OMG this sounds soooo...good. Can't wait to get my thousand island dressing..

sahmmommy2 12-04-2012 03:46 PM

Had this last night and added 1/2 c. chopped cucumber and 1/2 c. chopped red pepper to a mix of spinach and butter lettuce! Delicious!

whytokay 12-04-2012 09:09 PM

lisa32989 12-04-2012 09:21 PM

Having this tonight - a new favorite for sure!

whytokay 12-08-2012 07:46 PM

my WF 1000 island dressing hasn't arrived yet, but i've been wanting to try this for sooo long! So I am gonna try it with mustard and maybe a touch of WF ranch.

cactusflower 01-13-2013 07:24 PM

Let me know if you like it when you do find it.
Have a great IP weekend!:D

Our store is out of the WF PB so I assumed it was good. Got a rain check for it. Why was it so bad? I'm craving PB like crazy right now and thought it would be good smeared on the omelet (yes, I love fried egg and PB sandwiches...)

Suzali 01-13-2013 08:24 PM

Had Big Mac in a bowl for the first time. Will definitely be making it again.

Bellamack 01-13-2013 08:27 PM

I went to make it today and found that I bought 2 jars of sweet relish instead of one sweet and one dill. so I had 'hold the pickles" salad. lol

mpstaton 01-13-2013 08:36 PM

My wife and I had it the first time tonight.....really good and very realistic tasting vs the Big Mac - which I will never have again.

I was craving PB too. I had heard that the WF PB is disgusting, but I thought I would give it a try. Save your money, it is horrendous! The consistency is nothing like PB, and the taste is even worse! It doesn't even remind me of PB. If you are craving PB and hope this will cure that, you will surely be disappointed...sorry :(

IP43 01-14-2013 03:58 PM

I saw the Big Mac in a Bowl "bump" and hadn't had it in awhile -- now craved it -- and didn't have any thousand island dressing. I DID have the WF mayo and ketchup, so I mixed a bit of that and it worked ok as a substitute. But I did have a whack of pickles in there to help with the flavour.

So if you have some WF products that are gross, just goes to show, you may be able to turn them into something else :)

Have you tried PB2, the peanut butter powder? I love it. It adds great PB flavor to puddings, shakes, stir fries etc. I think you can add water and turn it into a sauce or even peanut butter, but haven't tried that yet.

I'm having this tomorrow night, can't wait! My second Weight in is tomorrow and I'm buying my WF thousand island dressing then.

The WF peanut spread is pretty gross by itself, but I use it in a Pad Thai sauce and when you mix it with the soy sauce and spices it isn't too bad.

.

Just a heads up - PB2 is NOT ok to use on Phase 1 of IP. Anything not on the sheet has to be 0 carbs, 0 fat and 0 sugars in order to be allowed. PB2 has 1.5g fat, 5g carbs and 1g sugar per serving. I do know that many people use it in maintenance though!

Betterthings 01-16-2013 03:32 PM

Tried this last night for dinner and absolutely LOVED it. Gonna have it weekly.

joefla70 01-16-2013 04:40 PM

I've never made this before and I have a question for those who have. When you've made it, do you brown the ground beef as you would to make taco meat... or do you form patties and make patties, and then chop up the patties?

If I have ground beef, I just measure it, brown it and do the crumbles on the salad. If I have pre-made burger patties, I take 2 of them (4oz each for a total of 8oz), cook them up and then chop them for the salad :)

All of the reviews of this recipe left me curious, decided to try it tonight not only did I like it but it was a hit with DH...Made jicama chips to go with it....still perfecting them but very delicious none the less..

Irene87 01-19-2013 09:42 PM

I tried something similar with ground chicken and I loved it :)

Cheekyskeeter 01-20-2013 08:18 AM

I made this last night and loved it! Very easy to make too.

Thanks Bella. Glad to save the $. Like with most things my cravings have passed. What's that saying "this too shall pass". I don't think they were talking about food but hey it works for me!

clarksgirl 01-23-2013 07:00 PM

I JUST made this!! I can't believe I am not cheating right now!! SOOO good!!

cactusflower 01-23-2013 10:19 PM

Welcome neighbour :) Here you go

* 1/2 pound raw ground beef, about 5 1/2 ounces cooked weight or 153 grams cooked *
* Salt and pepper, to taste
* 1 teaspoon minced dry onions
* 46 grams dill pickle slices or 2 dill spears, chopped, about 1 5/8 ounces
* 2 tablespoons WF Thousand Island Dressing
* 1 1/2 ounces iceberg lettuce, shredded

Brown the ground beef, drain off any fat, season with salt and pepper.. Meanwhile, soak the dry onions in a little water to rehydrate them. Put the meat in a large salad bowl and add the remaining ingredients. Toss and eat at once.

Since this recipe doesn't cover all our veggie requirements, what else do you serve with this?

Ktieman 01-24-2013 09:37 PM

I've got to try this!! Sounds yummo! Without the guilt lol

gazelle 01-24-2013 09:54 PM

You can add spinach to the salad, increase the amount of pickles and onions to equal 2 cups. I also use romaine instead of iceberg for more nutrition (although it still doesn't count as a vegetable).

Alohakiwi 01-24-2013 10:26 PM

Ah yum! Trying this weekend :)

This is my recipe, which DOES cover the veggie requirements:

Romaine or iceberg lettuce (as much as you'd like)
1 cup chopped dill pickles
1/2 cup chopped tomato
1/2 cup chopped onion (or sometimes I do half onion half mushroom)
8 oz browned ground beef, turkey or chicken
2 Tbsp WF Thousand Island or Russian dressing (I prefer Russian)

clarksgirl 01-25-2013 08:50 AM

I tried this again last night, and I am not totally sure what I did wrong if it was just how I was feeling, but I couldn't choke it down! Bad food night for me! I think I put in too many pickles and onions! I am going to try the mushrooms too, I was already using tomatoes, which definitely was delicious on it!

I saute mushrooms for mine and really enjoy that. Just try tweaking the amount of pickles and onions until you find the amount that is right for you. I had a big mac bowl last night and really enjoyed it.

We have this pretty much every week - it's yummy.

We just use the ground beef in crumbles.

For the extra veggies we'll make rutabega or celery root fries or I'll have rhubarb as a snack between dinner and my 9pm snack.

Maybe we'll have it tonight - not sure what DH has planned....

How would you describe celery root's flavour? Never had it, but a fan of rutabaga fries and jicama fries. Husband does not like clery though...so wondering if it tastes just like celery? Thanks

tbone39 03-23-2013 01:44 PM

Bump.... I had it yesterday... tasted great!

GraceMarie 03-23-2013 05:13 PM

Had it last night ..awsome

Jeaner 03-23-2013 09:29 PM

Hi all...this is day 5 for me. I'm doing better than expected!! Wanted to put in my 2 cents worth regarding the big Mac in a bowl...awesome! And I agree that I do feel like I am cheating.

My biggest issue is eating the large amount of protein and large amount of vegetables for my evening meal. I am doing ongoing tweaking and now doing 1 - 1 1/2 cups of spinach, kale, and or celery in my morning drink. That is great in the chocolate and not bad in the vanilla either. I still need to tweak the 6-8 oz of protein at night meal. I will start out trying to do about 2 oz in my lunch salad...and tweak more if needed. I am questioning if I am in ketosis yet...I really had no withdrawal symptoms (other than the emotional ones!!) But according to my home scale losing at least 1/2 pound or more a day this week. Lots of it I am sure is water weight from release due to no carbs. Anyway I must say this has been a pretty good week so far! Love to all you helpful folks out there.
