    Yesterday's IP Daily Chat - Friday, December 3, 2010
  • If you missed SallyM's post entitled "The Cause of Weight Gain People Don't Talk About" in yesterday's thread it's worth going back and reading. It covers anti-depression medication well. What it doesn't mention is pain killers that people are routinely prescribed for headaches, fibronyalgia, etc. They all contribute to weight gain and make trying to lose it very, very difficult.
  • Sorry for the double post. I meant to post this in the weekend chat:

Your coming on early, Carla, reminds me of something that has occurred to me off and on the past few weekends. What if we started the weekend thread Friday? Usually Friday is a light day for posts, and combining Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shouldn't get us nearly to the maximum number of posts. It would be easier on the people who start the thread (you all really could sleep in on the weekends, if you wanted to). And we readers would benefit from the continuity of three days of posts.

The downside, of course, is for the person who is daunted by 60 or 80 posts when they sign in Sunday morning. But those posts would still be there, waiting to be read, whether they were segregated into individual days or the longer weekend thread. Just thinking out loud
  • The low-down on sweetners.
    http://www.organiclifestylemagazine....ternatives.php
  • This was very interesting. Stevia looks like the only sweetner they recommend, because they grouped everything else together. When I started my coach said that we were only to use Splenda sweetner. When I hear others, they were told to use Stevia. What are others' opinions? Iwant to get this right. (I don't have a paid coach anymore, I use the group).

Linden, I received my T Tapp DVD's yesterday. I am going to start exercising today. I am kind of excited and since I am not an exerciser, this is big news. Thanks!
  • Goodmorning!

This morning, I come to stand before the mercy of this group...Last night, at my husbands xmas party, I cheated.

They had single serving munchie platters, 1 for everyone!! (onion rings, deep fried zucchini, wings, ribs, NO VEGGIES)
    - I had 2 onion rings, and 3 or 4 battered zucchini.....UGH!!!!!

I did have the chicken chef salad with WF dressing for the entree - but STILL!
This morning I FEEL like I ate it. Which I knew I would!

    I think I need a talking to....lol
  • Dont feel bad Lesley! I cheated last night too, i felt like i had my head wrapped around this plan so well...I had a piece of cheese of the cheese platter and like 8 meatballs!!! o cant forget the light beer i drank too uggg lots and lots of water today for me Have a great weekend!! BOOT CAMP FOR ME TODAY!!
  • Happy Weekend everyone! Hope you are all having a good one. For those of you that progressed to Phase II, do you find you still lose weight at a steady pace? I was going to phase out before Christmas and am into week 2 of Phase II and am liking it for several reasons. I get to choose my protein rather than the packages and it makes the IP program cheaper. My printout for phase II says I can stay on it until I hit goals with a min 2 week stint. Didn't seem to affect my weight loss much the first week so am interested in what other people are finding.
  • Good morning everyone! Thank goodness for weekends (even though I do have to go in to work for a couple of hours to catch up on some paperwork )
I have a NSV to report! Yesterday, not one, but TWO people commented on much smaller I was! I'm not sure if it had to do with the clothes I was wearing that finally showed it off more or what, but it was GREAT to hear!
SV : I am not changing my signature yet as official WI is on Tuesday, but my Wii this morning has me at 198.8 lbs!!! I'm finally in Onederland for the first time in about 14 years!!!

Great article Linden! You know, when I started IP, I thought Stevia was another brand name of a sucralose based sweetener. I too was told to use Splenda and had never heard of Stevia. I am going to go look for it at the health food store today.

Okay, so here I go being controversial again. After much back and forth, I have decided what to do about the Christmas season and the IP program. I was going to transition off entirely for about two weeks over the holidays, first doing a week in phase 2 and a week in phase 3 (my coach's recommendation).
However, I realized that I don't want to go off the plan for that long, I just want to enjoy a couple of days/events without having to worry about measuring my veggies and making sure how my meal was cooked and, yes, being able to enjoy a few glasses of wine with friends.
So, new Christmas strategy is to stay strictly on plan except for 5 days (evenings really) this month which will be my planned cheats. I fully realize that this will set back my weight loss, and I am okay with this. I don't plan on going crazy and know that I will make good food choices. I want to view these evenings as the way I would behave when I am in maintenance.
Tonight is one of these events - our work Christmas party. I am very much looking forward to wearing new smaller size clothes and dancing the night away! My goal is to still lose about 6 lbs this months, about 1/2 of what I would normally expect to lose. I'll keep you all posted!
  • Lesley and MaryKate!! Tsk tsk tsk! Ok you're about to be taken to task, read this then get over it and flush your body out with a lot of water.

Next time you want to cheat say this to yourself... "Is this "onion ring" (or whatever you want to eat) worth $50? Because that is what your wasting to get yourself back into ketosis every time you cheat. It has helped me stay on plan, I hope it helps you!

On another note... every time you cheat you are running the risk of not being able to get back on plan. Carla has posted some really great information on this. I don't have the time right now to go look for it. But what I pulled out of it is this, if I cheat I may not be able to lose as effectively as I am right now even if I get back on plan. You really have to look at this plan as a 100% no cheat plan. I had one big cheat when I was about 4 weeks into the program. I had lost 30 lbs in that first month, and I've never been able to get back to that rapid of a weight loss since. I'm still losing weight but at about 13 lbs a month. I wish I had just stayed on plan instead of doing that one cheat. I'm proud of my 50 lbs weight loss but I would be happier to be at a bigger loss as well

    Good luck girls!
  • As of this morning, I only have 7 lbs to go until my initial goal! Woot woot! I do have my first planned cheat day coming up next weekend for my best friend's bachelorette party, then plan to go straight back into my diet the next day. I am just hoping I don't get too sick from having the planned wine as I haven't had any alcohol in over 3 months!
  • I made jello jigglers last night! I was digging through the recipe threads this last week and found a recipe for SF jello in it. Jello jigglers (or Knox blocks as they're known in my house) were always a treat for me as a kid and I still love them as an adult. I made them up last night and got to try them this morning - I think I like this new version better! Perfect for when I just want a little treat or have a fruit snack craving...

I've posted the recipe in the Recipes #2 sticky. :-)

Hey Lesley! I had an " off night" two Fridays ago, and I paid for it too, with a case of the icks! You don't need to be told, you are feeling it. Sometimes a demonstration (oh yes we do experiment on ourselves) is worth well more than a thousand words of warning from anyone else.

AND you will get back on track and do fine having had that experience.
  • jency! i completely agree and i really regret doing it! but its done its over with and ive already had 3 bottles of water this morning and a shake so far my weight is the same and i am commited to this diet and the money im spending to do this to get myself where i want to be! i am proud of myself for the fact i didnt eat the chicken wings, the rolls, or all the other party food i was prepared for a veggie tray or something of that nature to munch on and not a dern thing like that so i did settle for the meat balls which i guess it could of been worse the beer is what will most likely ruin me for the week! dern it! Im back on track im commited!! I CAN DO THIS!!!
  • Soooooo, I've suspected this since I weighed in on Thursday but dug out my old medical records this morning to verify it - I'm at my lowest weight that I've been at since my wedding 5 years ago!
