I made garlic mashed cauliflower the other night for me, and potatoes for the family. they all liked my cauliflower better! I just cooked it until super soft, drained off the water, mashed it with the jarred garlic, sea salt, pepper, and some butter. My coach said I could use the butter as my oil for the day. I have made it previously without the butter, just didn't drain it as well, and mashed it with salt and pepper.

That sounds FABULOUS! I might have to give it a whirl on Thursday...

WELL! .... apparently "we" decided to not do Thanksgiving. Guess I have nothing to worry about.

Family is all out of town and BF has lost about 48 pounds in the past 6 weeks. He says, " I like this. Why do we need Thanksgiving? This way we can enjoy Valentine's day." Okay then! NO Thanksgiving of any kind. NO mock food, he says. SO, I am planning a normal but, nicer than normal dinner.

I'm IN!

i started IP 11 days ago... feeling pretty good. On IP for health reasons which led to weight gain and insulin resistance... so i am excited to be seeing results. No way am I cheating on Thanksgiving. I don't want to have to repeat the first 3 days and i have a specific goal of getting as healthy as possibile before going on our fabulous vacation in Hawaii in Feb.

Each day is just one choice at a time to increase wellness in my life. That is how i will approach Thanksgiving day.

Did you know that when we take control over 1 area of our lives, this mentality spills over into others? its true... i am much better at staying on an exercise schedule when i eat right... and my life feels more orderly.

just a thought i hope will encourage you...

Choose to Be Well,
Susie

Count me in!
I think just to avoid any temptation I'm going to make the actual Holiday (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Years Day etc.) extra strict. If I have that mindset going into it I think I will be much less tempted to "fudge a little." 1,000 "little fudges" is how I got to this point! There is going to be a Thanksgiving next year and for all the years after that. Why not make this one LIFE CHANGING :) Then in a few years I can look back and say "I'm proud of myself for having the will power to stick with it through the Holidays, and look at me now!"

Have a great Thanksgiving all! You're very inspirational!

I think you deserve a star on your forehead if, for nothing else, your patience and forbearing. :D

Thanks, Linden! :)

Unfortunately, last year when I was just starting IP and did my first non Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, I was envisioning having something a little more phase 4 for a Thanksgiving this year and Maybe, JUST MAYBE a cheat day Christmas. Ah, Well! Next year! :D

It is so worth it to see him being focused and losing the way he is. He is so dedicated. It really makes me PROUD of him!

Now he is teasing me that SOON he will be passing my goal. He just might! He only has another 40 or 45 to go. If I don't do something fast, I will be the one still losing even after he has finished. The shame I'll have to live with would be he started after and finished before me! :p I don't like that idea! I best get in gear.

That's kind of really sad -- a year-long expectation is nothing to sniff at. I think you're taking it awfully well. On top of the possible, male-generated-ability-to-lose goal. Beat him! Not that you both don't win. But it's the spirit of the thing. ;)

I hear ya! The only alternative I have is to go do a Turkey day somewhere else. I just don't have the heart.

I really do need to do something but the more I stress the harder it is. I am an emotional eater. My escape is exercise. That doesn't go too well with this either. If I over do it and haven't eaten properly, I will stall too.

So, to each his own. If he gets there, I will have to deal with it. I will do my best though to be at my goal before he reaches his. Unfortunately, he could make his 45 before I can do my 30! He is having some great success.

He refused to do IP. Says he can't. WHATEVER! He said "set me up on something low carb." (picture me smiling sweetly and saying "OK" as I put him on IP alternate style! :D ) He gets costco shakes, egg whites, tuna, lean protein, all my veggies, lots of salad, occasionally my puddings for a dessert and, my vitamins (all of them!). He says "so much better than what you did with all the packets." Uh Huh!! RIGHT! LOL. It is working great for him.

Sorry for going Off Topic (OT)!!!

Well, OK. But I think you are on topic, both for you and for others on the program. We all have some combatant to deal with, whether it's a live [friendly] one, or emotions, or no-time-in-the-day for, or no former pattern of, thinking about one's self.

I think I want to see you reach your goal as much as I want to reach my own. After all, you've been the one constant in this program over the last six months.

I'd love to join this! I'm doing Thanksgiving at my place this year. I'm glad because I won't feel the pressure to eat for the host. ;) I'll eat turkey, salad and I'll have a single bite of the following: stuffing, sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie. Then, I'll just sit back and sip on my hot tea. Yum! Oh and I'll give everyone the leftovers if I can. ;)

Freeze the meat in serving sizes. You can definitely use it.

This is my approach this year too:)! I'm having Thanksgiving at my house; and making a lot of traditional sides, but have made the decision to just stick to a little turkey, green salad with EVOO, and about a 1/4 cup of mashed sweet potatoes (I'm making these w/ just a little butter and salt and pepper). And MAYBE a few bites of my moms apple salad; which is just apples, pecans, and mayo! I'm getting so close to goal; and have even thought of calling goal at 147 (6 lbs to go to healthy BMI!); as I've made it into a solid size 8; and some 6's and feel great so I've been eating more phase 2 and 3 and I'm still losing just a little slower than on Phase 1; which BTW I never felt good on:(. So next year when I'm under control maybe Thanksgiving will be my "free day", but until then I've got about 10,000 "free days" I'm still trying to undue!LOL
Oh, and next week when I'm in the Bahamas still fitting in my size 6 shorts I'll be so happy, and proud that I didn't let a moment of food ruin my success!
Good luck to everyone, and have a wonderful IP Thanksgiving!
