I was diagnosed a few months ago as "pre-diabetic", and since then have struggled to find a weight loss method or program that will work for me. A couple of my relatives are using IP and have had so much success that I'm thinking of starting the program too.
If anybody that is pre-diabetic could share their experiences on IP, I would be so grateful. Specifically, I'm curious about how your blood sugar levels are reacting, and how you feel?? For me, I sometimes get that feeling of MUST EAT NOW if I haven't eaten for a few hours (due to low blood sugar), and I'm wondering if I will feel like there's not enough food on IP to keep my blood sugar levels steady.
I was trying to be so careful about editing my post, looking for spelling mistakes, etc. but I realize now that I put a big "thumbs down" on the subject line. Totally not intentional - I thought it was a question mark.

Would your relatives' coach be willing to talk with you, even over the phone to answer your questions about how IP addresses these issues?
The answer may be that you eat a little more or slightly differently than Phase I, another packet or maybe more protein at lunch. Maybe they'll suggest adding extra oil, which helps satiation and fullness.
Me, though I haven't been diagnosed pre-diabetic, if I'm hungry, I eat. I carry a foil pack of tuna in my work bag as well as 3 packets and my shaker. There have been days where I've had 5 packets.

Unfortunately you can't edit the thread title or the symbol/smiley. However, if you want to edit your post, you can do that. Just look at the bottom right corner of your post when you're logged in. There's a "button" that says "Edit" Click it and edit to your heart's delight!

Any advice would be wonderful, thank you!!

There is a separate protocol for diabetics and, after consulting, it may be decided by a coach that something like it would work for you.
I know we have several diabetics on the program and this forum. I believe Christina is a pre-diabetic so, hopefully she will see and respond to this. If not, post a question directly to SweetStina on the general chat and see if she can help you out.
I am a bit hypoglycemic and find this diet is just fine for me as long as I "nibble" or eat every 3 hours and drink my water.
Good luck! I hope you can, and do, decide to do this plan. It is wonderful!
I have been told that I'm pre-diabetic and insulin resistance. I was even taking medication for awhile, but I found I could control it with proper diet and was able to go off of it. I can say I haven't had any problem in the 6 weeks I've been doing IP and I'm not on a special protocol. I usually keep a bar in my purse in case I am too long between meals but if you eat everything you are allowed, I don't find my blood sugar giving me any issues. My coach had actually told me this would give my pancreas a rest because it's not having to produce insulin to keep up with all those carbs.
Obviously, talk to a good coach and see what the special protocol is and if it would be best for you but I used to have those blood sugar spikes and lows and I just don't have them anymore.

I have hypoglycemia and pre-diabetes/insulin resistance, so I know exactly what you are going through. I did a lot of research before starting IP and decided that this was the best option for me. When I signed up, my coach said to keep a packet of the chocolate soy crisps in my purse. This has been a lifesaver for me. If I start feeling my blood sugar drop, I just eat a few crisps and I feel much better! I also need to make sure that I eat every 3 hours or I get a headache. Spacing out my packets and my salads every 3 hours has worked great for me. I hope this helps! Best of luck to you

I'm not a pre-diabetic. You must be thinking of someone else, Carla. I'm the former migraine sufferer who hasn't had a migraine since day 2 on IP.

My experience with diabetes and IP has been wonderful. I am actually an insulin dependent diabetic and before the diet I used huge amounts of insulin. I took a short term insulin and a long term insulin and as many as 9 shots a day. Ip has changed my life. I don't have to take so much insulin because I am not eating large amounts of carbs. IP balances out my insulin levels and I feel fabulous. By the second week I was off one of my insulins and by the third week I was taking a minimal amount of the long term insulin. I have spoken to many people that are now off their oral medications because of the diet. It is the way to go. Good luck!
Just thought I'd share a quick update with everyone....
Today will be day #4 for me, and so far, I haven't had any issues with my blood sugar ---- not too low, not high, it's the most steady that I've seen it since I started testing in April.
Strange thing is that my blood sugar this week has been between 4.2 - 5.9 each time I tested (I don't have to test regularly), and normally at those levels, I would be a shaking, jittery, hungry mess. Now, I feel fine. Never mind the weight loss so far (though I do look at the scale constantly and am happy !!!), regulating my blood sugar is a huge NSV for me.
