Has anyone stalled their weight loss by using the EAS Carb Advantage shakes. I'm moving my daughter next week and the IP Ready to drink shakes are not available. They keep promising but no delivery. I have stuck it through this far don't want to blow it.

I started out using only IP products, but now I use these shakes almost exclusively (I occasionally use Syntrax Nectar protein powder) and I haven't noticed a difference in my losses. The strawberry and vanilla are my favorites. Chocolate is just ok for me, but I'm not a big chocolate person.

I use AES Advantage every other day. I'm trying to make my IP shakes last till the new orders come in. The strawberry tastes like strawberry milk.
Kelsey, it is a little tough right now, but you will start enjoying it more and more. This is my son's third year and I am ready for him to go back. I'm looking forward to getting my house back. Love him dearly, but .........
By the way, have you heard about the job yet. I may have missed it. Sorry if I did.

The real test will be tonight. Our State Fair is in town and I haven't gone to a fair and NOT had a funnel cake in years. I can do it, I can do it!!!

Carlasherea, thanks for posting your struggles (and successes!). I know when I get to the next few phases and ultimately maintenance, I'll be so much more prepared due to posts like yours (and from the other wonderfully knowledgeable women on the "Life after" thread). Have fun at the fair!

Thanks, my friends for the words of encouragement. Yes, I've talked to him several times a day, and plenty of text messages... he's so happy. He's doing great. He even sent me a video message showing me his apartment is all "put away". I will be happy when I get to that point of looking forward to this EMPTY house! Having DH on nights doesn't help.

No, Wyso, no word yet. I heard they had the last day of interviews today, so maybe soon. It makes no difference to me any more.

Could not getting enough sea salt cause dizziness?.. I used to get about 3/4 tsp. per day, but recently cut back to 1/2 tsp... yesterday, I had 3 flashes of dizziness, spread out through the day, & then yesterday evening, I just happened to remember I hadn't had all my salt... after I dumped what was left of the 1/2 tsp. in the shaker & licked it off my hand, I didn't have any more dizziness... today I increased it back to 3/4 tsp. & haven't had any problems... just wondering if it's related or just coincidence...

hugs

Thank you Showgirlaz! Good to know all that about watermelon. Make me feel a little better about my little cheat.

I have been getting a lot of family comments on the fact that I am loosing my weight too fast and my family members are becoming concerned. Has anyone had the same reaction from family or friends?

WyoSun 08-19-2010 11:09 PM

Many people don't understand the diet. The point of the diet is to lose weight quickly. Wait till you tell them how many calories a day you eat. I have found it easier to just say I am under the care of a nurse/coach(mine is a nurse) and let it go at that. Lots of people have their opinions, but I am doing this for me and I feel good!!!!!

petiteandcute 08-19-2010 11:49 PM

I would like my weight loss to be a little faster. I have lost an average of 2.4 pounds per week, not cheating and following instructions. I haven't gotten discouraged and don't intend to stop. Any ideas?

Yes! If you don't get enough salt, it can cause added dizziness. Probably not a coincidence.

I totally caved and had a small bowl of watermelon. I figured that I could have indulged on something much worse than watermelon. Today is a new day and started out with my morning cappuccino. Here's to Friday-Eve!!

Congrats on getting back on track this morning... just remember next time that big red fruit starts calling your name, Dr. Tran Tien lists watermelon as a high GI food, bad sugar... & quoting his book, "Even the slightest amount of sugar will put you back at square one, and you'll have to wait two or three days to start losing weight again, because that's how long the mechanism will take to get going."

Thanks, Carla... it was the only thing I could think of, since I hadn't experienced any dizziness since I started IP... so, I'll stick with the 3/4 tsp. for the time being...

According to the revised international table of glycemic index and glycemic load dated 2008, watermelon is a high gi food but a low carb and hi fiber food with a LOW glycemic load.

"The GI is of foods based on the glucose index–where glucose is set to equal 100. The other is the glycemic load, which is the glycemic index divided by 100 multiplied by its available carbohydrate content (i.e. carbohydrates minus fiber) in grams. Take, watermelon as an example of calculating glycemic load. Its glycemic index is pretty high, about 72. According to the calculations by the people at the University of Sydney's Human Nutrition Unit, in a serving of 120 grams it has 6 grams of available carbohydrate per serving, so its glycemic load is pretty low, 72/100*6=4.32, rounded to 4." A glycemic load of 4 on a scale of 60 indicates that on average the item creates a very small glycemic change in a person.

I won't argue Dr Chanh's words but, thought I would share the basics on the watermelon.

I think it's related. I am very sensitive to changes in my salt intake while on this diet. I have had all the symptoms described above many times when I don't get all my salt.
