Barbara, Good Luck this weekend. I'm afraid potato salad is one of my favs, too. We have a 50th BD party to go to tonight. Several of the girls are on IP, so there will be friendly food there, but also mucho bad food. Over the next week I have to make 10 doz. cookies. This will be my challenge of a lifetime!!! I am working on my mind set. I have gotten out my book and paperwork and am going back to boot camp. It is the only way I can stay on track. I have let myself stray some. Not major cheats, but cheese, jerky, nuts, etc. So, starting today it is back to the basics of keeping track of what I eat, how much water I drink, etc. I have less than 15 lbs. to go and it is time to be done. I have my busiest week of the year starting tomorrow(Sturgis Motorcycle Rally). My B&B is full plus I rent out a room in my house. Sooo, besides all those cookies you can just imagine what I need to fix for breakfasts. Anyway, it has gone pretty good so far, so just one more week then things will slow down a little.
I would have guessed that your coach was a man. They really don't get how our bodies are so different. You may have had something that caused you to retain some water. That has happened to me. The humidity is a real pain. We don't have much, but I can always tell when it is higher than normal.

SO, I was uneasy and not feeling too good about the interview. Last night a friend of mine who works in that department told me they do that because they want to see how well you react under pressure, how well you think, and how quickly you are able to respond. WELL THANKS, NOW YOU TELL ME!!! Once he told me that I actually felt better. Given that information, I actually don't think I did badly at all. I can't imagine many doing much more, or much better. When I sent my thank you note/email I asked that they take a look at some of my work on our company-wide drive. If they do, well that should help. Not sure if they will or not.

Sounds like you did very well! Fingers crossed and hoping for you to get what is best for you and your family! :)

Take care everyone !
Emma Jayne

I don't have PCOS but I did have a few skin tags on my side near bra. I have read that they are not uncommon and can result most often in persons with hormone imbalance, insulin resistance, and diabetes. Mine are gone now and have been for awhile. I have wonder if, as our body is correcting the insulin issues the skin starts to reflect the healthier state.

Let's see how this reply works and what it looks like. Can someone help me out? Should I be going to see my doctor? Is this a result of "resting/resetting" your pancreas? If I go see my doctor he will probably tell me to get off this diet. HELP!

Hi. I know that one person responded to having had this experience. It was a few pages back. It sounds like one of those unique to you and less common experiences unfortunately. Like Natchamp says, we are detoxing so this could be a part of your body detoxing. Very often persons who are having sugar imbalance or overweight/obesity issues they also have yeast (candida) issues. This diet really does benefit that by removing sugars, starches, processed foods, and most fermented foods. If this persists, yes, see the doctor. He may or may not tell you to go off the diet and, depending on the reasons he provides you are still in charge of your decision. By all means, if you need to do something for your health you should do it. If he just doesn't like the diet, that is a different story.

My biggest problem is my nightly snack. I don't like to eat at night, and I'm never really hungry after dinner. I do a drink because I just don't want to eat anymore. I feel like this is a bad habit to get into, eating when I'm NOT hungry, but I understand I need to not have such a large timeframe between fueling my body at dinner and breakfast. If I do eat right before bed I have a bad time sleeping, so I at least try to do it a few hours after dinner. It is quite unfulfilling :(

Great Job Xanthia! Sorry to hear about the snack issue. Question for you. do you wake up early, stay busy during the day, eat a fairly normal to late dinner, then go to bed at an early hour (9-10p)??? If so, you might be a candidate for the afternoon snack, later dinner and no PM snack route. It isn't the most desirable way but, each of us burns food differently. Dr Tran originally said it could be either an afternoon or a night snack. Maybe for you that would work. You would be able to tell because you will wake up in the morning really hungry or light headed if you have gone too long without the food. You would know within a day or two.

Some people burn foods off very quickly and other don't. Some people have a body that stops being hungry at night and doesn't burn food well after dark (it really is a body/hormone regulated thing) and so late night food can putrify for them instead of helping.

I would say, try using the food the way you want eat. You will be able to tell if you aren't feeling right and can shift it back.

I'm determined, though, to stick to Phase 2 all week, & I think I can probably do it successfully... the worst part, I probably won't get a chance to visit the forum all that time!.. as I've written in another thread, my parents are just about the biggest naysayers I know, but maybe when they see how much weight I've lost, they'll be a little more cooperative when it comes to my food choices... I don't know, they're sorta unpredictable!.. anyway, I've never been much of a breakfast eater, so it should be easy to get in my protein shake then... then another one before bed... I've never tried the EAS pre-made shakes, but I've read posts from many of you who seem to like them... so today, I'm off to Walmart for a week's supply...

Any suggestions, things I might not have thought of?..

hugs

That is so nice of you to help them out. I know it really means a lot. My grandparents are 94 and since my mom passed away, my sister and I take care of them in that way. They really appreciate having someone to hear what the doctor says and to remind them what they wanted to say.

Expect the best. Look for the positive. I may be wrong but, I think when your parents see you they will see a changed person and, given their love and concern for your health and well being, they will be happy/supportive. Of course they may have their own opinions and concerns. All people question what is different. The nice thing is you are on phase 2. You get 2 normal meals a day. AND, they should be appreciative of good simple food... that is what you get. Take some bars or snack style restricted foods if you eat them. Take some hard boiled eggs, or sliced cooked chicken breast, take some cut up veggies. These will help with snacks if you need to and are driving. Remember to keep plenty of water handy, and drink more, especially if you are eating out often and at buffets (too much sodium). Keep plenty of protein drinks available. Your parents are familiar with things like boost so, supplemental nutrition is not unfamiliar territory.

This reminds me of an old story about a town up ahead.

"Once, a man pulled up into a gas station in the country, and asked the gas station attendant, "What are the people like in the next town up ahead?" The attendant said, "What were the people like in the town you just came from?" "Awful people," the man responded. "Rude, cold, hostile, abrupt, unfriendly. They wouldn't give me the time of day." "Well," said the attendant, "I'm sorry to say it, but you're going to find exactly the same sort of people in the next town up ahead." A bit later, another driver pulled in, heading in the same direction as the
first. "What are the people like in the next town up ahead?" the second man asked. The attendant said, "What were the people like in the town you just came from?" "Wonderful people," the second man responded. "Friendly, warm, helpful, patient, kind. They went out of their way to help a stranger." "Well," said the attendant, "I'm happy to tell you that you're going to find exactly the same kind of people in the next town up ahead." ."

I have always taken that story as a reminder that sometimes what we get in life is what we reflect and/or expect. If you expect your family to be supportive, maybe, they will be.

Good luck on the trip! We will miss you!

Anyway, went shopping yesterday to find a couple size 10 suits. Everyone must be a 10, cause I could only find one. Luckily it fit really well. I am very excited. Just need a little more off my tummy to make it look the best. Also got a coverup...drum roll....in a SMALL!!! Wore a tailored jean dress. It was fun. Still working on posting some pics. Just don't have the time right now.

I am so happy for you! It is so much fun to change sizes. I can't wait to see your new pictures. :)

When I travel, especially road trips, I keep a small bottle of my oil with me. I just add it to salads while I am out, take it off a spoon, or dip my veggies in it with a little salt on them. It isn't perfect but it works.

At my weigh/measure on Tuesday evening, my coach asked if I had been cheating - some of my measurements didn't drop. No, I hadn't. He asked if my period had started and it hadn't. But I feel kinda bloated and *****y today, like it wants to start. However, the last one was July 21st - so this one would be pretty early! I just wondered if IP does some funky things with one's cycle?? :?:

Sounds like you are really doing some great preparation for the reunion. I am sure you will have nothing but successs! Sometimes, measurements don't change much. Especially if, for an unknown reason, you are retaining water or a bit constipated. I wouldn't worry unless it continues to not change.

yes, IP does lots of crazy things with cycles. I was only going about 20 days between starts at one point. That was a real JOY, let me tell you! NOT! :dizzy:

WyoSun 08-06-2010 04:21 PM

Oh, I forgot to mention. I have lots of tags.(thanks, Dad) My sister and I both do. Haven't noticed any of them disappearing, tho. Glad to know there are others out there with that sort of fun!!!

JessicaCourez 08-06-2010 04:46 PM

Well, two major meals down with no cheating, just have to make it to Sunday! Last night we went out late since everyone got in late, and I had no trouble not caring at all.

Had a food pusher at the rehearsal dinner (EAT THIS PIE I MADE, no thanks, NO, YOU HAVE TO...I made it...) and she knows I'm not eating that kind of stuff. Irk.

Had some extra protein at breakfast because we had everyone over for steak and eggs (and french toast, and fruit, and mimosas, and cake, and...) not going to kick me out of ketoisis, tho. Everyone seems really uncomfortable when you aren't eating with them...so I just grabbed some stuff for the plate.

Carla: WOW!
Kelsey: Good luck!!

Everyone else, great job on your success!

Hi Emma,

I'm not sure if anyone answered this one yet but I will add my two cents. Skin tags, especially on the neck and axilla are strongly linked to insulin resistance (common part of PCOS). IP is resting your pancreas, meaning you are releasing less insulin and your body cells are becoming sensitive to insulin again. Diminshing skin tags are a wonderful sign!!

You made a really good point. I do get up early and go to bed early. I do eat dinner earlier now too because I'm pretty hungry. Maybe next week I'll switch to protein snack in the afternoon and a later dinner. Then I might be able to eat with my husband! I generally can't hold out!

Hi,

I always had my snack before dinner, basically between hours of 5 to 7. Was a great way to stop me from snacking even on vegies etc before dinner.

Hi I'm new here and have been reading your threads but not sure which to join. I believe this is the one I have been looking at from prior months.

I went to a seminar last night and meet with my ?Coach? Monday. Any tips and pointers you can share as to what foods you really like and really hate would be appreciated.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you.
