Ready Made Vanilla Ip Drinks - Help!!!
 

Hi Everyone!

I've been on the site before and have read the success stories. It wasn't until today that I decided to get registered!! Congrats to everyone who has been doing so well!!!

Here's my dilemma. I was told today @ my IP clinic that we are currently unable to purchase the IP ready made vanilla drink; something about a shortage due to reformulating the product in Canada? Has anyone else heard about this? I'm totally panicked as it is the only product that I eat daily. I love it and can't imagine another 7-9 weeks without it.

If anyone can verify hearing this that'd be great. Also, if anyone knows how to purchase the drink elsewhere....I'd be willing to get the whole 9ish weeks worth at one time. Thanks in advance!!

my clinic has no problems but I think they had just gotten a lot. Regardless, lindora sells some and they are the same and cheaper.

$6 a piece at the clinic; so $36 for a 6 pack. Yes, I was worried too when I bought them but they are the same. Even says Made in Canada like IP, packaging a bit different.

$6/packet?! I pay $4 and that includes the extra postage to Hawai'i. AND the tax.

A pack of 6 IP ready mades at my clinic is $28US. The same price as a box of 7 "dried" packs. So, $4.60 apiece.

New Lifestyle, $67.50 a case of 24; if you buy three cases (total over $200), shipping is free. It is the same nutritionally as the IP drinks, is made in Canada, and packaged in exactly the same boxes IP used to carry before they got their own labels.

The vanilla is in stock as is chocolate; mocha on back order. I still keep a supply on hand.

So interesting to see the price differences! I paid $29 for 6 at my clinic.

I ordered from Lindora last Tuesday and they came in yesterday. I am sooooo happy to have my morning routine restored. I was beginning to struggle without the vanilla RTD's to put in my coffee.

Thanks to everyone who has replied!!! NOVAK.....do the ready made drinks from NEW LIFESTYLE.....do they taste exactly the same as IP? That's my biggest dilemma is that I LOVE IP's vanilla and don't want to compromise on flavor!!

They taste the same... delish. I believe they are (or at least were), produced by the same supplier. IP now has their own labels, and all the shortages and talk of being reformulated leads me to think that they are perhaps setting up a premade operation in their own facility.

Just my theory...

Anyway, I've ordered 3-4 cases at a time on three different occasions and they are excellent.

Yikes! I thought it was only 100%, lol.

I will definitely be ordering from Lindora again when the RTD's go down to $8 for 4. I love Pure Protein frosty chocolate but tired rather quickly of the vanilla and it didn't go as well in my coffee. I'll try to remember to let you know in advance in case you want to add anything to the order since shipping goes down the more you order.

i think that geri cuts back a little on that, since i have seen people talk of WAY higher prices. good thing about her i guess.

i've never tried the ip or the lindora shakes!

I have found the Pure protein pre-mades but no powder. Is that what you are using and if so, where are you getting it?

Do the Lindora vanilla RTD also taste exactly like IP? I've been ordering from New Lifestyle, but Lindora would be even cheaper given that they so often have sales and free shipping. I tried Muscle Milk: way too sweet. Tried EAS: too chalky/vitamin-y (although I use the EAS strawberrry RTD, if its really cold it tastes like strawberry Quik). I love the IP/Lifestyle ones, but wonder how Lindora tastes. (I am the world's pickiest eater, makes you wonder how I got so fat, no?)

Yes, in my opinion it tastes the same. In fact the very last purchase I made from my coach, she actually sold me a Lindora vanilla RTD. I wondered why the packaging was different and now I know why! ;)

Vanilla Drink
 

I tried to get the ready made vanilla drink as well and could not. I read an earlier post chocolate pudding diluted tastes like the ready made chocolate drink so I am wondering if you could try the vanilla pudding diluted for the same flavor as the vanilla drink. I used the ready made in my coffee for creamer and it was truely delicious

The only question that I have at this time is if my clinic will keep me if I am not purchasing the product from them. You know that's how they make their money (obviously w/the price!!!) so hmmmmmm. I want to get to the end so that I can learn what I need to know about the maintenance of the program. I've always been able to get it off, just can't keep it off going back to my old habits!

In addition, I feel really disillusioned by Ideal Protein's claims that it is to medically standardized. If these other companies are selling the exact same drink....what makes it any different than IP.....other than that it is supervised.

I'm "hooked" now and don't want to quit til I lose the last pound. I'm just venting!

I also use the vanilla RTD in my coffee and love it. Tried the vanilla pudding when it was unavailable and in my opinion it was not the same. Honestly the word I previously used to describe it was horrid. :D It works for some folks but for me... not so much!

In regard to NOVAK's post about IP having their own facility......really makes me wonder too. I find it strange that IP can't get the product out to us (who have been forking out $30/box of 6 since we started the program), but New Lifestyles has plenty of it in stock. Hmmmmmmmm????

Frankly, the amount of nutritional information I P and "the other companies" give is so minimal I don't know how anyone can say they can compare them. Is the amount of potassium the same? are the amino acids the same?

One of I P's claims to fame is that it covers all eight amino acids in everyone of it's products. If that is so, you'd think they would want to brag and include detailed nutritional information on their boxes or, at least, on their website.

Regardless, I'll give you an example of what I mean about comparison. Someone on the program highly recommended Nectar whey protein isolate. Since it does list nutritional information it is possible to compare it with I P, or with I P's claim.

On the surface Nectar looks better -- higher protein, no carbs, lower sodium, no fat, cholesterol, sugar or, unfortunately, fiber. And it lists eleven amino acids. But only one of them is an essential amino acid. You can draw your own conclusions about whether or not the trade off is worth it. But at least in this one case, you can compare. I think its too simplistic to compare on the basis of calories, protein, and carbs alone even though those are the only points of comparison available.

Are other companies selling the exact same thing? You mention New Lifestyles but I can't find anything there that has the same nutritional values as I P. In fact, for the ready made chocolate drink the values are WAY different:

Serving Size: 1 container, Calories: 160, Fat: 316g, Carbs: 19g, Protein: 15g

I sure hope that fat figure is a typo on their part.

Not sure what you are looking at, but the New Lifestyle ready made drinks are the same as IP. For the chocolate: 100 calories, 4g carbs, 4g fat, 15g protein. The vanilla is only 3g carbs. The list of ingredients is exactly the same as the ones I originally got from IP. They are made in Canada, and are packaged in exactly the same manner as those I purchased from IP in the January-February time frame, though I believe IP now has boxes showing their name and logo.

I hope people understand that a major difference between IP products and others that look or taste the same is the manufacturing process, which is compliant with Canada's pharmaceutical and food standards. This is one reason why the products are more expensive than others. When a piece of equipment is finished making one product and they switch to another, it goes through a cleaning process that takes a full day, and costs $16k. This is why IP products do not contain the heavy metals that Consumer Reports recently found in other protein drinks on the market (cadmium, arsenic, and lead.)

You may ask, if Lindora, New Lifestyle, and IP all use the same supplier for premades, why does IP charge so much more? Are they just marking them up to make more money? Perhaps that's part of it, though my assumption is that the other products carried by Lindora and New Lifestyles are NOT manufactured in compliance with the Canadian standards, making them less costly to produce. But since all IP products are manufactured to those standards, there is no way to offset the higher cost of one product with those less costly to make.

Whatever protein or supplements we use, we should take into account the quality, in addition to the list of ingredients/nutritional information on the label.

But more to the point, I really appreciate your information about the formulation and processing of I P products. I think, in some ways, we are kind of making the same argument -- that, on the micro-nutrient level, and in terms of processing -- that I P products are different than those that appear to be the same?

Couldn't make your link work... I got it right off the New Lifestyle site that I go to when I purchase the products, as well as the sleeve on the boxes I have in my kitchen! :)

And absolutely, there are differences that are not immediately obvious without the research.

Hi Girls: Can someone that has Lindora bars in their cupboard please go and look at them to see where they are manufactured? I'm still researching this whole thing and I'm curious!! Thanks!

Linden: I'd be curious to know where you are getting all of your info on IP's process of making the drinks. I know the info that you get off IP's website, and what the reps told us in the seminar on "how" the products are thus "why" they cost so much. What I question is "WHY" are New LIfestyles drinks packaged in the EXACT SAME packaging as IP's previous ones BEFORE the new IP label. There is a copyright infringement if IP/Pharmalab 1982 Inc uses the same exact packaging unless it IS the SAME product. Does that make sense to anyone else? I think IP is AWESOME.....don't get me wrong. It has worked for me and I'm excited w/the results & process. I, however, don't wish to continue to pay $105 dollars a week if I can get the SAME product at almost half the price. Comments please!!!

I believe you might be overthinking this. :)

Why don't you just order some drinks from New Lifestyle, and give them a try? Many people on these boards have used them with excellent success, myself (and my sister) included. Stressing about possible copyright infringement might be a counterproductive activity re: your weight loss process. ;)

(They are marked, "not labeled for retail sale," BTW.)

If you have concerns about them not being the same and are more comfortable with the IP label, then continue to order through IP. But I am quite certain that IP--at least in the past--used the same premade drinks offered by New Lifestyle. That may have changed, or may be in the process of changing, but I believe that to be the case. If I am wrong, then I can only say with certainty that the NL premade drinks work just fine on the IP program, as you can see from my ticker. :D

You are so right on Novak!!! Are you still able to go to IP and weigh in....or are you on your own with it? I really want to get to the end with the IP program,,,,,but am unsure if I'm not purchasing all of the foods if we (my sister and I too) will be able to continue w/weekly weigh ins as that is how they are making their money to continue w/the clinics.

At my clinic, they never even noticed... but I had purchased packets earlier, and they had no idea what was in my inventory. My sister has done the online version, put in an initial food order, and supplemented with the NL drinks.

I would just continue to go regardless and don't even mention it. Did you pay a fee up front or have you purchased other IP products from them? Or are you only using the premade drinks?

Hey, if they catch up with you and decide to toss you out, you can buy a good scale and a tape measure with the money you saved. I had no real coaching except this forum, so I stopped going to weigh-ins, bought a scale and kept my own stats. I'm none the worse for wear because of it! :D

I just checked the IP dot com site. The Canadian site has changed in the last two weeks.

They don't have a UHT drink offered, only UHT puddings - vanilla and chocolate.

I agree Novak! My sister even said that she has no idea how they even keep track either.

I think we are also leaning toward going to Weight Watchers as we get closer to goal so that we have a reason to weigh in once a month to be lifetime members. I have always thought WW was a good plan, just not quick enough wt loss for me to stay with it. IP on the other hand has been amazing that way! Keep up the great work on your own. Do you know how you will handle the next phase? Or do you have that info.

One additional side note.....for the member who said that IP has particular amino acids etc.......I just found something really amazing. The actual PHOTO of the bars on IP's website....is the exact same photo that is on Lindora's site for the vanilla peanut bar. Coincidence.......????.....or is it the same product with different packaging when it comes to us. I know Novak said I was overthinking this, but I feel like I've been baited and switched; Especially at $13.50 for a box of bars vs. IP's cost of $30 per box!!!

Icw32...you are right....no more premades on the IP website! Good catch. Wonder what the deal there is. Wonder why their drinks are "curdling" (as our IP rep said) and the others are available on NL?

You can learn about the other phases in the "Life After Phase 1" thread, which I suggest you read before you switch to WW. It is crucial that you complete Phase 3 if you are planning to stop the program. Or you may decide that IP is a better weight management tool for life.

Novak, you have had wonderful results. I've read some of your previous posts and I'm curious which clinic you used to go to? Didn't you say they really coached you about Phase 3? I also live in Northern Va and have not gotten alot of info...thank goodness for these boards! My coach told me since I had been dizzy alot, it was time to go to Phase 3 when I went on vacation and I didn't realize the importance of strickly following it...gained 9lbs in 2 weeks :(

I go to a clinic in Reston. Not much coaching, except the visiting nutritionist/IP coach who did my initial workshop, and then did one for Phase 4--during that, she addressed Phase 3 as well, but I was already in Phase 4. Still, I learned a great deal about both. I was pretty much on my own to research Phase 3, which is why I started the "Life After Phase 1" thread--so other folks wouldn't have to go in blind. :)

I just checked Lindora on the Redy Mades and they are out of stock there too!
