hello! I'm so impressed by the amount of information and support on this site!

I am new to IP and i am a little concerned with the amount of calories on a daily basis. They say 1200 is the minimum for optimal health...I am fightinh to eat this many with upping my lettuce and veggie intake...

Any advice?

This diet forces our bodies to use our fat (and protein) reserves for energy, so although you are only taking 800 to 1000 calories a day, your body thinks it's getting more (I can't remember the exact calculation, but I remember it being like, twice as many at least).

For the best results, make sure you're only eating the amount that you should be eating. Lettuce is a "free" food, so you can eat that all you want. But I was told that you should have 4 cups of veggies a day, no more and no less, and only from the acceptable - and once or twice a week - the restricted lists.

I am hoping for some weight loss at my first weigh in tonight but i'm still feeling sugar cravings. I have two young boys (3 and 5) and I've always made the effort to make everything from scratch. This week alone I have to overcome double chocolate pecans cookies, smoothies, and banana pancakes.

it's tough *sigh*

I have no idea if ketosis has set in and if I am on my way

After reading some of the threads I'll make sure to be more strict with my veggies.

thanks for you response!

This brings up a question I have as well. I bought the Ketostix and THINK I'm strict on the diet (not even doing restricteds) but can't seem to get into ketosis. Any ideas? I have a 'trace' on the ketostix. I only have about 10 lbs left on goal and really want to kick this in the tail quick!.

If you were seeing more than a trace you'd probably be in big trouble. AND you ARE in ketosis. Lose the ketostix. They offer you nothing (but anxiety).

Pre IP!

Howdy! I am excited to start IP in a week and a half. Wish I could start earlier but I cannot afford my startup kit until then. Any advice on what I should do until then? Or should I just enjoy my freedom while it lasts?? :)

My goal is to lose 90 pounds :) :carrot:

JULIGAL21- Okay, I'm only on day 9 in Phase 1 so I am in NO way an expert, but from just have started Ideal Protein myself and from my few days I will say this: Before I started I made sure to eat everything I would miss in huge servings. Big mistake. I really believe it has made the transition from eating whatever I want to this regiment harder. Not that it would've been easy, but I certainly did myself no favors.

So, totally enjoy the foods that you will miss, but don't be like me and go waaay overboard. Best wishes on your upcoming journey and I look forward to making progress alongside you!

Okay guys, I am having a hard time finding out if Bragg's Liquid Aminos are allowed. It's basically like a soy sauce. Anyone know? If so, how much per day? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think Bragg's is essentially the same as soy sauce, just not fermented I think. Soy sauce is allowed so I would say Bragg's is allowed. I have some in a spray bottle and I plan to use it when I try making kale chips for the first time.

Hi,

You have to have been a member for 20 days, down to the minute, and posted 20 times. At that time, follow the instructions on the first page of the daily chat.
