I'm working to move back towards it more, though I'm doing SugarBusters right now. It's fairly sound, I think. Eat real food, in as close to its natural state as possible. There are a few books out there devoted to the subject of primitive eating; I've read NeanderThin & am now making my way through The Maker's Diet (I have an odd little habit of reading diet books for fun; I love the public library system), which is quite a bit more involved than NeanderThin, & more liberal in some ways as it allows certain grains & dairy, but it reminds me of NeanderThin quite a bit.
The basic concept, as I understand it from NeanderThin:
Eat fruits, vegetables, meat, nuts, and seeds. Nothing that cavemen didn't eat. Nothing that could not, in theory, be eaten raw. No dairy--as cavemen were hunter/gatherers, they didn't milk herd animals. Very few grains. No cashews, since apparently they're inedible raw (that's what the book said). No artificial sweeteners, obviously. No caffeine. If you want to lose weight, emphasis is on meat and vegetables, and off of fruit.
I did this a little while before finding out I was pregnant with #3. I did lose weight, but how much of that was the diet & how much being pregnant (I always lose weight in the first trimester), I couldn't tell you. I felt pretty good. But I like bread too much to stick to it.
