Slimfast - May!
We are starting a new thread for a new month and we are just starting a challenge.
What you do is spell Slimfast everyday. You earn the letters like this S - shake your tushy (exercise) L - Limit your fat intake I - ice water (drink that water) M - Motivation (whether you encourage someone else or journal) F - Fruit and veggies (are you eating them?) A - Avoid picking and grazing between meals and snacks S - Sensible snacking (that means healthy ones) T - Taking time for YOU! We can do this for a week and keep a tally of each day how close we get to spelling slimfast. For example lets say Monday I did everything but exercise so I'd have LIMFAST, Tuesday I did it all so I get SLIMFAST, Wednesday I didnt exercise or drink water so I'd have LMFAST. For Monday May 1, I got SIMFAST...was a little up on my fat because of olive oil in dinner so not too shabby. Got in my 30 minutes on the elliptical! Have a fantastic tuesday everyone!! ~melissa |

Ok, for the challenge...on May 1 (yesterday) I got LIMAS. I only ate 1 orange, so that doesnt really count, plus no veggies and I really didn't do anything special for myself. I find it hard to eat all my fruits and veggies. The most I ever do is 1 fruit and 1 veggie a day. Anyone else have that problem?

Good Afternoon everyone!! Well I was down 5 lbs today! Yay!! about time that darn scale started moving in the right direction again!
Looks like everyone did pretty darn good their first day out of the challenge! Crazed are you drinking your water? Rebel...I think you did just fine with 2 fruit/veggie items, I'd just try to up it. Veggies are harder for me since there are only a few I really like and hardly any my family likes. But fruit I love! Well I hope everyone is having a GREAT day today! Well my scale moved down 2.5 pounds..... it looks like I may not meet my goal but I am still EXTREMELY happy!!! We are heading to Tampa tomorrow and getting on the ship Thursday AM!!!!!!! I AM SOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!! I know I will NOT stay on plan during my vacation but I will work out since they have a full gym on the ship!! But I can hit it hard again when I get back!! Not sure where my post for yesterday ended up??
Not a good day yesterday- for the challenge I got.. :dizzy: LT :dizzy: BAAAAD Day! Not sure why, thinking it might be PMS. Melissa- Way to go! 5lbs is awesome! That's fantastic!! :cp: Crazed- I also struggle with the water, it helps me if I carry around my gigantic mug of water. My family makes fun of it, but I get my water in and I get a workout in one arm!!! :D Rebel- I can get the veggies in, it's the fruit I struggle with. Stephanie- Have a great time!! Well, I haven't worked out yet but I WILL. So I guess I got slmfast again. I just can't drink that water, never have the time LOL. I had a coupla diet cokes though. (Okay, more like 3!!) What can I say, the water here is really nasty.
I'm getting a little put down that I'm not losing any more weight. I weighed myself again this morning, although it is awful hard to tell with my $6 Wal-Mart scale. I've been eating the right things, excercising 3 times a week. So I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I'm eating the minimal amount of calories suggested. |

I have a question for those of you that have been on the diet for awhile. I don't go exactly by the slimfast plan, because I don't have time to be eating every 3-4 hours. So I eat bigger meals and 1 snack a day. Will ya'll tell me if this look okay (I am at the 1200 calorie level):
breakfast: 1 slimfast shake w/ banana lunch: 1 slimfast bar w/ apple or 1/2 cup fruit dinner: a 500 calorie meal (lean meat, veggies, bread) snack: 1 f/f pudding cup or 100 calorie pack or slimfast snack bar That's my usual day. This is not what slim-fast suggested for me, I tend to eat the fruits along w/ my slimfast shake or bar rather than as a snack. I'm just trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong, LOL. |
Good Morning all! I got SIMFAS yesterday. Little high on the fat and didnt do anything for myself. Just too much going on yesterday and of course I put myself last. Other than that I had a fantastic day!
Crazed...try not to put too much stock in the scale, they are so inaccurate especially when you use it daily. Try to get in the habit of only using it once a week to reduce that frustration factor. You are doing GREAT!! How are you feeling? do your clothes feel a little loser? These are much better measures of how you are doing! Dont give up on you just because of a number on the scale, the changes you've made in your health are worth hanging on! You can do this! I think your menu looks just great! There is room for adding more calories even though I know you probably dont want to, sometimes upping the calories a bit will get that ball rolling again. Just an idea. I'm off and running today, may not be able to check in later. Yesterday was good for me up until dinner time, did a little snacking. PMS monster! SLMFT for me. Today I plan to do much better :) Melissa- 2 more days of classes until graduation or until summer break?? My hat is off to you!! Crazed- your plan looks pretty good. Maybe try to have a small salad (or some kind of veggie) and a little protein (cheese stick, etc.) at lunch. Try to drink water as is always suggested (I struggle getting 64 ounces in), the water does work. All the best to everyone today. Deb |

Keep up the good work! Its the last day before summer break for me, I've got 3 more semesters till I graduate and have to grow up! LOL! I had a fabulous day yesterday, did my elliptical for 30 minutes, that makes 4 days in a row!!! Drank tons of water I think I got about 120 oz yesterday. Got myself a Weight Watchers digital scale yesterday, so now I can track my progression more accurately. I weighed myself today, and will continue to weigh in every Friday now. So hopefully this time it moves a little! I got in more fluids, but I don't think I'll ever get in those 8 glasses of water (do diet drinks count as well?). I've also only missed 2 days of working out, so as long as I work out both today and tomorrow, I've achieved my goal!
Way to go with the workout Hun e.B., it sounds like you're doing killer! On a little side note, did you guys know if you e-mailed Slim-Fast about coupons they will send them to you every month if you request them? Good luck with the plan everyone, and have a great day!! :) |

Sorry I haven't posted. It's been kinda of a nutty week. My grandpa has been sick so I've been helping out with family stuff. I lost 4 pounds this week, but I am going to a Cinco de Mayo party tomorrow night with beer and food. I have to behave! So, Tue I got LIMFAS Wed was LIMAS and Thurs was LFAST You all are doing great! Crazed- Thats a great suggestion about the coupons! I also saw somewhere that there will be coupons in the May 7th Sunday paper. I also weigh in on Fridays now, too. Hi ladies! I hope you don't mind me sneaking in here to ask an incredibly embarassing question.
Do slimfast shakes give you gas?? :^: I finally figured out that they are the culprit behind my stinky farty gas! I'm so mad, what am I supposed to do now? :?: I use the powder to mix my own shakes. Is it just me? Has anyone figured out something to counteract it? Any ideas? Or should I just shut up and leave you poor ladies alone? Christine |

For me, I noticed that the powdered Ultra used to make me gassy and my stomach acted funny. I tend to be lactose intolerant anyhow. Now, I use the ready to drink Optima and I don't notice a problem, but I do also take a Lactaid -type pill before drinking the shakes. Good luck! |

Christine...Hello and welcome! for me the slimfast doesnt make me gassy its eating higher fiber which you are generally doing on a lowfat/lowcalorie plan like Slimfast. If I have alot of veggies in a day my tummy gets very gassy. You could maybe try beano, I've used it before having stirfry and it works like a charm. I hope you get some relief from it soon! And please dont shut up...we love'd love for you to join us! Good luck! Crazed...I'm so glad you got a better scale, does the one you got do tenths of a pound..I want one like that. Diet drinks do count as water, but its my understanding that you only want those to be less than half of your water intake. and if you can do them non carbonated even better. And yes, Slimfast will send you coupons everytime you email and ask them to. Well I am officially done with classes, just have one final next week, should pull out straight A's again this semester! I noticed we've got alot of friday weighers...should we all do it friday? I normally do tuesday but I dont mind switching. I sold back my books and have an extra $160, now I'm trying to decide if I should put it all into our Disney fund or if I should take $60 and go buy a bike so I can go on rides with my girls. All I have to say is that I messed up on the diet the past two days. I'm back on track today, but I feel like crap about myself. Like all the hard work I've put into it has been ruined. :(

me too! Its been a very off weekend! I've got noone to blame but myself but I'm ready to get back on plan tomorrow and knock this weight off! I'm getting closer to my goal and weekends like this dont help! Tomorrow is a new day and I'm ready!

Good Monday Morning all!! well today is the new day I need. Peeked at the scale this morning and it said I was up 6 lbs. Now we all know its not physically possible to gain 6 lbs in 3 days so I'm not stressed out about it because I know all I gotta do is get that water going again and cut out the salt and poof, back to normal. Today is the day for that.
I went ahead and got that bike, took the girls for a bike ride on Friday night and again on Sunday for a short one. My legs were screaming! Okay Ladies I'm BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCKKK!:)
Well, I graduated last Saturday on April 29th! It was so hectic with family coming in town and I had one final the day before graduation, aaaggh. But, I'm happy to say I received a bachelors in Exercise Science. My grades were two 'A's, one B+, and two 'B's....I'm happy. No more exams to study for...until September!lol! I'll be starting a 11 month acclerated nursing program in Philly can't wait! Melissa-How's your finals going? Ladies I'll be posting more frequently. My Aunt flo just left and I'm weighing at 168.8lb. So I'm happy I havent gained remaining the same. Now I came back home to South Florida to cover for my sister while she's on maternity leave. I just bought some 15lb dumbell to start working out. I went to LA fitness across the street to see how much it would be for a month membership since that's only how long I will be here. But when they told me $80..I was so straight I turned and walked right out. Looked up a high school near by with a track and went to sports authority and purchased some weights. Got my slim fast for my snacks and I'm ready to build some muscle and burn fat. Keep it up ladies I see you've been doing great in my absence. Until tommorrow good night. I'm off to the track with my weights in tow:). |

Good Evening Everyone! Well I'm done with finals....only had one LOL! Keeping my fingers crossed for straight A's now. Got back on track with plan yesterday and have been doing fine, sticking to what I'm supposed to be doing except exercise. Havent done it for 2 days now. Not sure why not need to get back to it. I'm just not feeling committed to myself today at all, I'm surprised I havent sabatoged myself yet with my mind set. I think its PMS and maybe stress of the past 2 weeks is wearing off. Kicking myself still about last weekend and the numbers I've been seeing on the scale. I wish I knew why I did that. I get going so great I saw 223 last week, and here I am struggling to get back to 236.5 which was my last weeks weigh in. Stupid! I take 1 step forward and 2 steps back. Not gonna get me very far! sorry for my state of mind, I'll keep fighting, I'm not giving up yet!

I have been MIA this week b/c of my work schedule and just plain crazy life! I did horrible this weekend, but I finally got it back into control Monday. How are you all doing after the weekend? I think that in general they are getting easier for me, but this weekend we had 4 different parties to go. All of which involved cakes, pizza, and other goodies. Ughhh... Hello Ladies! I was part of this thread a few months back before I decided to try another weight loss program. Needless to say, it was a very bumpy road, not just with my new plan but life in general. I am SO glad to be on steady ground again, and am ready to go back to my tried and true mode of weight loss - SlimFast.
It's great that this thread is still active and people are finding such success! Looking forward to meeting and getting to know all you girls soon. Haven't started back on SF as of yet, but will be by weeks end! I hope you're all having an awesome day and taking care of yourselves. |

Hi, do you mind if I join in your slimfast group? I have been doing the diet since Monday and so far am quite happy it. I am a WW gold member that has been on holiday and slipped down that slippery slope of over indulgence, you know the one you slide down after the holiday as in last December!:rollpin:
We are going on holiday again next Sat so I am trying to get rid of a few pounds now and am hoping that I won't gain too many while away. We have just got back from a trip to the Grand canyon/ Vegas and I didn't gain any on that one. Well nice talking to you, I guess I'll go and change my siggy now :( It's great when you change it for good but OH dear, I have to add pounds this time. Chezz |
