Default 3 Day Cleanse Question? [Not for Weight Loss]

Good Afternoon, Y'All!

It's been a long long long time since I have posted anything and I am very not happily so far off my wagon. I have ballooned up to 280ish (I haven't even stepped on a scale recently - I am too afraid) because I haven't been able to get a handle on the stress in my life. However! I am working on getting back to looking after myself better.

My question is - has anyone done a 3 day cleanse? Whether juice or smoothie or anything? My stomach has been very sensitive lately (for example - I ate a "roll up" a few moments ago of 1 slice or LS Ham and Lite Swiss - and my stomach is now not happy) to anything I seem to eat and I am not sure what's causing it. I was thinking an overload of crap but I can't be certain. So I am looking into doing a simple cleanse to help try to re-set my tummy and give it a break on hard digesting.

Has anyone else done this? Have you had success with it? I am not looking to lose weight doing it - that is what exercise and better eating habits are for but I would like opinions from people who have done this (whatever your reasons!).

Thanks!

One thing you might want to try is an elimination diet. A cleanse really won't help you here but if for some reason you have become sensitive to something, an elimination diet can help you figure out what it is.

I've never officially done a cleanse, but I do a form of intermittent fasting so I can attest that giving your GI a break will absolutely help with the tummy issues. (I have gotten rid of my IBS this way!) I've read very positive things about juice cleanses for that reason.

Here's a really interesting an honest perspective on a juice cleanse from one of my favorite bloggers, Dooce. She doesn't talk about the intestinal affects at all, but considering juice is removed of most of the fiber, it goes through the system really easily (unlike a smoothie where you wouldn't actually be giving your GI a break at all). Just make sure you have a good plan set up following the cleanse so that you don't go off the rails and wreak havoc on your system again.

Of course I would personally suggest fasting, but for me it's a lifestyle (I follow 5:2) not a one-off thing so I'm not sure how you would incorporate that into what you're trying to do short-term.

A water fast wouldn't hurt, I'd do it for one day but from the things you mentioned, they seem to be things that would irritate your stomach potentially (fructose, dairy).
