A Good Monday morning to you!

It has cooled off a bit. We now are able to open up the windows and let some fresh air flow through. We are supposed to have a delightful weather the first half of the week anyway.

ledom, you have come a long way with your exercising and it shows in your jeans ;) Way to go! When I was going to WW meetings something our leader said about losing weight slowly stayed with me. She compared weight loss to the story of the turtle and the hare, and said in the long run it's the turtle that wins in the long run. :smug:

judi, hope you had a good weekend.

Hey Cheryl, Cher ..hope you both had a good 4th.

Take care and have a great day.

sometimes I get on as esteban and other times judi...I dunno

Guess what? I have been out for my walk already...hooha! It is nice not to have it hanging over my head.

I found for my weight I should drink 114 oz. of water a day!! Screech!! I usually manage about 80 oz. But it does seem to make a diff to the scale.

Alice thanks for sending the website for the syrups. I am going to order some, the sf ones. There is a lot, eh?

Ledom, you ARE working hard. I am journaling my exercise and food. I am the kind of person that likes to keep track of things.

DH is coming home ... should be here tomorrow.

Marley is getting his hair done so I am really a free woman today. He has to go into Vancouver so he is gone all day. Sometimes it is nice to even have the dog away for a day:lol:

Have agood one everyone!

Hey everyone! Just a quick drop-by to say hi and I haven't forgotten y'all!

Hope everyone had a good 4th, even our Canadian friend :)

My trip to New England is getting closer and closer! Yea!!! My co-worker just returned from Maine and she said it was H-O-T up there! No escape, huh?

Ledom, how's your fat-loss phase coming? The 5 lb. loss is great!! My trip to Hot Springs is getting closer and closer, too :D

Hey girls, judi, doesn't it feel good to have your workout finished when others are just having their first cup of coffee. It makes me feel virtuous anyway.

Ok guys, I am so freaked out. The last 3 days I have horrible gas attacks after eating lunch. They involve, lots of belching, throwing off any contricting clothes, and writhing in agony. After 30 or 40 minutes it passes and I'm fine. Kind of like a tummy ache after dieting a year and then eating a large pizza w/ everything. I am so afraid they may be gall bladder symtoms. Do any of you have any experience with that sort of thing? Today I am eating differently. All three mornings I had a protein powder shake, the attack didn't occur then but later after eating veggies, meat, and a carb. I am just really holding back on food today to break this cycle. Hopefully this is just something that is going to work itself out, but it definitely has my attention. Not working out today, thought a day of rest was in order.

We went to see Gypsy yesterday. It was such fun.

Cher, you won't be getting away from the heat here I am sorry to say!

You asked how the fat-loss is coming. Not fast enough. But, today I wore the skirt that I was wearing a couple weeks ago that convinced me to quit eating BRx because my clothes were fitting way tight. It was comfy again.

aleka 07-07-2003 02:24 PM

Hey ledom,

Sorry to hear about your problem. I don't know what could be causing it. Have you been eating any differently these past 3 days than you usually do? Do you usually have protein shakes for breakfast? If it keeps up I would go see my Dr. to find out what it is. No, I haven't had anything like that. Sometimes when I eat a salad it creates a lot of gas, and at times it can be painful, but not like what you described. Hope you're feeling better soon.

ledom 07-07-2003 08:09 PM

Alice I have been having 5 meals a day and the protein shake is my mid-morning meal. I skipped it today and so far no problems. I have added a lot of vegetables to my diet the last 2 weeks which you would think is a good thing. I wonder if the weird protein loading I did up until last week could be the culprit. Anyway, I am really keeping track of what I eat and am trying to eat a litttle less too.

esteban 07-08-2003 02:21 PM

gas pains

Hi Ledom! If you have added raw veggies, especially brocc. that will happen...if you haven't been eating a lot of veggies then add them again it takes awhile for your tummy to get used to them. I had that once and it felt like I had eaten ground glass. It is the fibre. Fat too will do it if you had a no fat diet.

Hubby is home:smug: and the kitty! It is so nice, he brought me back all kinds of Ca. groceries. All good stuff. My fridge is stuffed. Today I am going to take him to the English tea place.

I bet you are looking forward to your trip Cheryl. Next week we are going to Vancouver Island, hoping to leave Tuesday. We will go to Victoria and then up to Tofino (we have been whale watching there before and saw grey whales). I am looking forward to it. It will be nice to have a trip that isn't connected to a work trip.

Hi Cher! What is up?

How is Sommersizing going Alice? What is your protein that you usually have?

It is 11:30am and I only have had 16 oz. water:p

ledom 07-10-2003 09:47 AM

judi, Glad to hear DH and Estaban are back home. AND, a vacation, it sounds like fun.

Thanks for the encouraging words on my gas spells. It hasn't occured again. I have not eaten any vegetables or protein powder since then. I need to start adding the veggies back slowly though.

Remember PMD, you know that diet got me down more on the scale than anything. I am going to pull it out and look at it again in the next few days. I have radically curbed the amount of food I was eating. I am seeing a little action on the scale to. It feels like a really delicate balance at the moment. I want to eat enough to fuel my strength training but so far I have been able to eat less and maintain my strength. I am in a more freestyle place now and I have to say I like it as long as I can maintain my integrity with it. I am continuing the 6 weeks of eatiing really clean rule. I'm on week 4 this week.

Haven't heard much from you ladies in the last few days. What's up? Hope everyone is doing well.

aleka 07-10-2003 07:08 PM

Good evening....

We have had computer woes these past couple of days. Our internet service was down and we just got reconnected earlier this afternoon.

Yesterday a friend and I went out to lunch then to a summer theater production of Footloose. It really was good. Some of the music was fantastic..my toes were a-tapping! A couple of times I had to restrain myself from going up on stage to boogie right along with them!:dancer:

My cousin is coming on Sunday for her 2 week vacation. So I am heading down to our summer cottage for 2 weeks. DH has other things to do and places to go while she's here. So, it will be mainly us girls.

ledom, glad that you haven't had anymore episodes. I had a long post the other day when our internet service went out. I thought your problems may have been due to the veggies you were eating, especially if you were eating a lot of them. Have you decided to go back to PMDing? Now that you have done a couple of different woes, going back to PMD will be new again. That's great news you seeing the scale moving.

judi, glad that DH & Esteban are home. How did your DH like the English tea place? Were Marley & Esteban happy to see each other after such a long time apart? I usually eat some sort of meat, chicken, or eggs for protein. Somersizing is going so..so. I've been eating more carbs than I should. How is MT going? I saw his infomercial again the other night.

Cheryl, when do you leave for New England? We are having such delightful weather now. But, later on in the week it's supposed to be getting humid again.

Hi Cher...what have you been up to?

Have a great night everyone.

esteban 07-11-2003 01:55 AM

Hi! I am beginning week 5 of MT. In total I have lost 10 pounds but I have added Pbutter in and dairy so that is why I am not losing as fast as the diet says one can. That is ok though, it is liveable now.

Yes, PMD is a very good plan...good healthy eating and something that one can stay with. I think it is too high in carbs for me at my present weight though...it will probably be good for you Ledom because of all the exerercise you do. There are some PMD things that really stuck with me though..9 fruit/veg. and daily eating of blueberries.

We didn't get to go to the tea place because it was closed for some reason. We are going to go tomorrow.

Lucky you Alice, having a cabin .... that must be so nice! I bet Laci loves it.

Next week we are going to go for a couple of weeks to Alberta and Saskatchewan in our motor home. We are just going to take our time driving and go to Jasper, Banff and Lake Louise. It is going to fun I think. I have to get lots of stuff ready in the next few days. When we get back DH will have to go to Ca. but I will stay home I think.

The cat and dog are in a love/hate relationship...they are spitting or growling at each other but always following each other around.

We are at the weekend almost...sheesh...where DOES the time go?

aleka 07-12-2003 06:31 AM

A good Saturday morning to you....

Lacee and I will be heading down to the summer cabin tomorrow, as my cousin is due to arrive then. I've been getting stuff together all week and going to bring it down there later on today. I will be checking in now and then to see how you girls are doing.

judi, you lost 10 lbs.!!! That is fantastic!!:bravo: You have to tweak an eating plan to make it right for you, otherwise you will not stick with it. Your trip sounds so exciting. Have a wonderful time.

Hey ledom, Cheryl, Cher

Have a good weekend!

esteban 07-13-2003 10:56 AM

Sunday

Alice, have a wonderful time at the cabin!!

We had to cancel our trip. DH is setting up an office at home and all the computer and furniture stuff is arriving this week. We are cleaning a huge room which has been storage for 8 years. It is going to be his office, it needs painting and some building as well. Sheesh, what a lot of clutter we have gathered. Well, it is going to the dump.

We have had some rain. It is good because some people on the island water is low. We have our own well so we are ok.

MT is becoming a way of life, so that is good. I wish I was losing faster though. I feel so much better and have way more energy.

Hi Ledom, Cher and Cheryl.

Check in when you can Alice we will be waiting to hear from you. Big smooch for Lacee.

ledom 07-13-2003 11:47 AM

Hey Girls - Have a great holiday Alice!!!!

Judi, sorry you had to cancel your trip, but it sure would have been lonely here w/ both you girls gone. Your project sounds like a lot of hard work, but fun too.

I have been in costuming coma for the last week or so. Opening night is Thursday and the first dress rehearsal is tomorrow. I have been sewing pretty much nonstop. I discovered a cool thing to help me out - our library has 5 seasons worth of Upstairs/Downstairs tapes from the TV show which I had never seen. So when I do my handwork I watch those. I have actually had a good time with this though a part of me resents that I am not spending time in my darkroom.

judi, that is so good about your MT. I think we have learned so much here on this thread about what works for us. I am with you on not losing faster. This morning I hiked w/ my girlfriends and I had a little hissy fit telling them how I haven't had icecream, or pizza, or drinks in months and that it didn't make a damn bit of difference because I am still wearing the same clothes, still weigh the same more or less. They both said yes it does matter, go look in the mirror. That was so sweet of them, and they are right - but.....sometimes I think I'll never be able to lose the weight. It is so slow.

4myloves 07-14-2003 10:34 AM

Judi--10 pounds is great!

I wish it would come off faster, as well....Of course, it would probably help if I was consistantly doing something to MAKE it come off :)

Alice--hope you enjoy your time at the summer cottage. My that sounds so nice and relaxing. My niece tried to back out of our trip (silly teenagers!!). I very firmly told her "No, ma'am." I've paid for this trip, planned it, and she's known about since FEBRUARY....No way is she leaving me to go to New England on my own!!

Ledom--do you REALLY want pizza and ice cream?

Cheryl

esteban 07-14-2003 10:39 AM

Goodmorning!

Upstairs/Downstairs....I love that series. A library in Vancouver has them and I have watched them several times and now have them memorized. BBC things are my favourite.

Also about being on this diet and not eating pizza etc. think about how much healthier we are...I know since I started MT I feel like a diff. person energy wise. But it is frustrating that it so slow, I know.

We have rain today.

The clean out in the room we are going to make my DH's office in has been going great guns. Whew! The furniture will be here this week. We are going to make more bookshelves. He took some boxes of books away to sell at a 2nd hand place but we are always getting more books so it won't even make a dent in the book situation.

Good luck on the costuming! That is a very creative project.

Have a good Monday everyone.
