May 2003 Booty Camp

A day late and a dollar short....the story of my life. Sorry I didn't open this yesterday.

I feel a bit better today and some of the gloom has lifted. My therapist recommended the Renfrew Center to help me with the weight loss doldrums. This is not a diet plan but very focused therapy for problems with eating. Actually my eating has not been bad...no losses and no gains...but the menopausal doldrums and obsessing about my weight is really getting me down so I am going to give this place a try....my therapist has other patients who swear by it so let's see if these folks can get the demons out...but not worry I have dealt with worse than this before....I just need some motivation.

Good luck to everyone at Curves!!!!!!!!

Jello 05-02-2003 03:18 PM

Oh sure Nurse! Now I have to remember what everyone said on the last thread! Ah, but I checked there first! :s:

Semo and Tiger, I really do like Curves a lot. Going back tonight for my next "session" so I'll see how it goes ... and if I remember how to use all the machines! P.S. Tiger - no bambies!!!!! :D There really is a wide (no pun intended) variety of women, young and old there. And we all have something in common - weight to lose!!

Quilter, an hour a day!?!?!?! How'd I miss that report? I could never do it. I mean, who's even got the time, much less the ambition!? I'd end up absolutely HATING it and stop going. Curves recommends 30 minutes every other day and, believe me, it's quite a workout. Good thing they supply the hand towels! My shirt was stuck to me by the end of it. They make you stop and check your heart rate every so often (about 3 times during the 30 minutes you're there). Mine was certainly up there!

And most amazing ... it was ... dare I say it ...?

FUN! :cp: Who knew?

Have to go now. Lots of stuff to finish before the weekend. Oh and think of me fondly on Sunday if you would. :^: I'll be surrounded by thousands of people, mostly kids, all demanding hot dogs and cotton candy and extra jumps on the moon bounce.

... and more face paint.

... and another prize.

... and more napkins to clean up the spilled birch beer.

... and ... well, you get the idea.

QuilterInVA 05-02-2003 03:19 PM

DNW thanks for starting the new thread and it was great to hear from you. Let us know if you hear anything that can help us, too. I need help with motivation so often it seems.

Today has been a bad asthma day and I had to leave work to go to the doctor for a nebulizer treatment. Just too much pollen and then it's very humid so I hope it rains and clears everything up. When you feel like there is an elephant sitting on your chest while someone is holding your nose, it isn't a good day. But at least I'm still alive!

Jello 05-02-2003 03:20 PM

Back one last time to say a real "hi" to DNW. I'm glad to see you here, girlie. Sorry you're going through such a rough time but it sounds like you've got a plan.

Take care of YOU!

:balloons: for you!

Tigerlily 05-03-2003 10:26 AM

Hi. I have sore stomach muscles! That means they are still there!:D
Youngest has pink-eye. Both eyes. This morning I had to fight with him for 2 hours to get the drops in. My nerves are shot. Dad will be home for the afternoon drops.:s:

Jello, nice to hear there are no "Bambies". Even when I was "normal weight" and going to the gym, I hated to see a "Bambi". I just can't understand the mentality of a thong. *shudder*

Quilter, hope you are feeling better.:goodvibes

Oh great, just felt a tick on my head...this day just keeps getting better.

Jello 05-05-2003 08:44 AM

It's over!!!!! :cb: And I survived!!! I was at the park at 7:30 yesterday morning and got home around 11 last night. And then I was too wound up to sleep. Today, I'm sunburned, sore and exhausted. Not a pretty sight. But the block party was a huge success and, except for a few snafu's, it went very well! :D Woooo and, may I add, Hooooo!! Best part had to be Rich filling in for a while making cotton candy. It was a windy day, he was inexperienced.... Covered head to toe, he was. He was sticky. He was fluffy. He was pink. Looked like a big Easter Bunny.

I admit to eating a little cotton candy - just a little - and some popcorn and one hot dog. But that was it for eating at the park. After clean up, everyone was back at the VFW for beers and other snackies but I was just too tired. Don't think I'm going to do this project next year. I've had 3 years and it's just too much stress for an old gal like me. :stress:

So today, I'm going to try not to doze off at my desk and see about leaving early. :crossed: But you know what? I WANT to stop at Curves for a "quick workout" before I go home. :strong:

And then I'll die.....

SEMO 05-05-2003 09:26 AM

Good Morning, just a quick hello. My sis made it to my house about 2pm on Saturday. OMG, she has an incision about 12 inches long with 16 staples holding everything together. They also chipped her hip bone to fuze with. Poor thing, this is going to take a while.

Jello, congrats on a succesful party. My hats off to you. Rich, pink, fuzzy bunny, what a sweetie.

Scales were down another pound this morning, but have to wait until tomorrow to see if it's REAL. You know the two day rule. :dizzy:

DNW and Quilter, hope you two are feeling better. We just can't have anyone falling apart here. Alto, I make a good nurse mate.

Tig, how's your little pink-eyed fella? School is such a breeding place for all that stuff.

Huntress and Bright, missed your post this weekend. Hope all is well.

Cafe, where ya been?

Gotta run. Hey to anyone I missed.

Tigerlily 05-05-2003 09:58 AM

Monday Again. Darn day just keeps coming back. :dz:

Semo, I didn't know about the 2 day rule. Claim that loss!:bravo:
Hope your sis is having a quick recovery. You probably told us, but is she big sis or little sis?

Pink-eye is clearing up. One more day of dreaded drops. Still keeping :crossed: nobody else gets it. This has been my first encounter with it and hopefully the last.

Jello wants to go to Curves! That's great. And it sounds like your Mayberry Block Party was great too. :queen: You are queen for the day!

I'm still trying to lowcarb. Not doing as good as the very first week. But, start each day out good....then fade off towards the end of the day. I'M WORKING ON IT! I've also decided not to weigh in until Memorial Day. Trying a different approach.

Oh, how to know i gained too much wieght over the winter...The lawnmower will no longer haul my *bleep* UP THE HILL!

Jello 05-05-2003 02:40 PM

Psst! :sssh: Boss is leaving in about 10 minutes and guess who's out the door right after him!! I have to go and return some scoops and signs to the very nice water ice lady who donated water ice to the block party. Rich and a couple of guys took her freezer unit back but forgot her scoops, thermostat and a few other things. Never send a man to do ... Well, you know.

Anyway, I'm stopping there, then on to Curves and then, hopefully  home for a nap.

Oooh, he's gone. See ya!

Tigerlily 05-05-2003 03:07 PM

Afternoon crunch time. Darn cravings kick in about now. I've drank about a gallon of water, so hoping to feel overly full any time now.
It was suppose to rain today, but hasn't moved in yet. So, I took advantage of the nice weather. Transplanted some ornamental grass, hostas and daylily. My, what pretty fingernails I have.

DS needs helping wipe'n his butt. Yep, the glory of motherhood. :p

Tigerlily 05-06-2003 07:06 AM

Good Morning!

SEMO, someone over on the Buyer Beware thread is asking about Power90. Maybe you could fill 'em in if you have time.

Jello, how was Curves? How many times have you gone? I called the one closest to me...it doesn't offer childcare. That would leave me hanging in a couple weeks when the monkeys get out of school.

DNW, come out and play!

I didn't make it through "the witching hour"....I gave into the stupid cravings about 4pm. Had a bowl of cereal. :( About 2pm when the cravings started, I had some cottage cheese with splenda and cinnamon with the TV. Tasty, but didnt' do the trick for some reason. Lots of head banging going on over here.

My Dad had a CT head scan yesterday. Wont know the results until Friday. A couple weeks ago, he had a chest scan. Results were "inconclusive". Praying for more postive results this time.

Hope to come back to lots of morning chatter! :D

Jello 05-06-2003 09:26 AM

Chatter, chatter, chatter.... Sorry, Tiger, best I can do today. Then again, chatter is pretty much all I do here sometimes!

I really like Curves!! It was more crowded than usual - don't these women have jobs!?!?! - but I was still able to squeeze in. Think I'll go back to my usual time after work though. More friendly bunch. :D

Did the running around yesterday, then to Curves, then straight home. Changed into jammies and climbed into bed with the remote control. Ah languish, languish, languish..... :queen: Rich came in around 6:15 with chinese food. I couldn't resist. :( Picture it - me and the dog in bed with a tray table fumbling with chopsticks and pork fried rice. Rich didn't stay around for that show! But what decadence!

Fell asleep by 8 and didn't wake up until 6 this morning. So now I should be bright-eyed and bushy tailed! Should be.... But yesterday spoiled me a little. :s:

Hey, question for you all! Pop quiz! Actually, just some brain-storming if you don't mind. I'm going on vacation next week. Leaving Thursday morning and driving up to Connecticut (about 5 hour drive or so). Then we're staying at Mystic Seaport and going to Foxwoods Casino and doing some sight-seeing, the aquarium, outlet shopping, etc. I need a food game plan! Travelling food. Restaurant ordering strategies. Exercise ideas. Water drinking "rules and regulations". All that good stuff.

The trip is Thursday through Monday and then I have off Tuesday for the big trip to the hairdresser for the highlights. Actually, I'm thinking Tuesday when I'm on my own without supervision or any particular plan is more frightening!! But one thing at a time, eh? Any advice?

Have to run. Work to catch up on.

Tiger, I've had experience with those "inconclusive" test results. I know how frustrating that can be. Your dad, and YOU of course, are in my prayers always.

Cafe976 05-06-2003 04:05 PM

Hey everybody. Sorry I was MIA for a couple of days. I was actually spending more of my work time working - imagine that? :p And I've been spending my surf time gathering info to help me decide to refinance. double :p :p

SEMO - Glad to hear sis' surgery went well. I'll bet you make a great nurse.

Jello - congrats on the successful block party! You're making curves sound VERY tempting. Wonder if there's one in my neighborhood?

Tiger - Low carbing again, hm? You'll do better this time, I just know it! Sorry to hear about the pink eye outbreak. Not fun, whiny kiddo and not much you can do about it.

Quilter - Sorry to hear that you needed nebs in the middle of the day! That's scary. I know you ALWAYS carry your meds, right?

DNW - Be sure and pass on any tips from the group! It sure sounds interesting.

~cafe, rushing

Jello 05-06-2003 04:39 PM

Just happened to come across this on MSN.com. Thought it was interesting. :chin:

The Secret to Skinny Snacking
By Leslie Fink, MS, RD for WeightWatchers.com

You're hungry. Tired. Craving. You're looking for a snack that will quickly squash your urge to munch. The big question is: What will truly satisfy your hunger?

Your friend swears by graham crackers spread with jelly but that doesn't mean that they'll do it for you. In fact, all that sugar may just make some people hungrier. So before you reach for a snack, look over our snacking personalities below. Pinpoint the type of food you're truly craving on the first try and you won't end up tasting everything in your kitchen cabinets.

Snacking Personalities 101

I want A LOT
If you're a volume eater, think small: mini chocolates (like mini M&M's), bite-size cookies or small cheese-flavored crackers (such as Pepperidge Farm Goldfish). Low calorie items are key as well. Try light popcorn, baby carrots and black bean dip, or flavored rice cakes.

In need of a quick energy boost
High sugar foods are your best bet. Go for juice, dried fruit, jelly beans, licorice, or even chocolate.

I need a longer-lasting snack
You can gobble down a candy bar in seconds but an ice pop, hard candies or frozen grapes take longer to eat. As an alternative, a piping hot cappuccino or steaming mug of hot chocolate can also do the trick.

Hold me over for hours
A lollipop may take a while to eat, but its high sugar dose can be used up in a flash. High fiber snacks that contain some protein and fat can stave off hunger for the long haul. Great options include whole grain crackers and light cheese, peanut butter and apple slices, or a small handful of nuts and dried fruit.

Give me lots to munch
Can't give up your nightly TV-watching snack habit? Try healthy, lower calorie items like pepper strips, grape tomatoes, crudités and salsa, light microwave popcorn or roasted chickpeas.

Just keep my hands busy
When emotional eating kicks in and a non-food activity like a walk just won't cut it, opt for snacks that take some time to prepare: peanuts in the shell, fruit you have to peel (try a whole pineapple!), or a sundae made with yogurt, chopped fruit and cereal. By the time you're done prepping and eating them, your emotions may well be on the upswing.

As I said, just found it interesting. Maybe it'll help a little too? :^: Have a good evening everyone!

Tigerlily 05-06-2003 04:56 PM

Ticks!:yikes: Haven't had a tick for ages. Three this week! I thought little DS was hurt the way he came scream'n earlier. Tick was on his leg. I had one in my hair. Had to trust oldest DS to pull it out. *shudder*

Jello, good info. Can I be more than one personality? :dizzy:

Hey Cafe! I was wondering where you'd run off to. Thought maybe Tiffany had hold of ya. (hear that Tiff?!) I'm still learning to low-carb. Although my days are far from perfect, I've cut way back on processed carbs....baby steps.

This evening I have to juggle DS track practice, other DS baseball practice...and find supper somewhere in the middle of it all.

Talk you to ladies in the morning.

DNW 05-06-2003 05:05 PM

Hi guys I'm still alive and working on the database from **** in the office...big hugs :grouphug: and smoochies to all....I miss you!!

Jello 05-07-2003 08:50 AM

DNW, we miss you too! Throw that dumb ol' computer out the window and come post with us!!

... Hm, wait. If she throws out her computer, how can she post...? :?: Never mind.

I haven't had a tick in years either. (Knock wood!) Used to deal with them all the time when I took the dogs camping. Yuck. Years ago, I had a parrot that liked to eat raisins and also liked to throw them on the floor. I got out of bed one morning and saw what I thought was a raisin stuck on the side of my ankle. Figured it'd been stuck on my foot and had ended up on my leg during the night. I went to picked it off. It hit the floor and started to crawl away..... :yikes: Damn, hate those things!!!

Tiger, I think I've been each and every one of those personalities at one time or another!

Cafe, glad to see you're back. Now stop that working stuff and come hang with us! :p

Semo, how's your sis doing? And how are YOU!?

Hey, anyone heard from Dyan lately? Wonder what she's up to.

OK, trip plan so far is a small cooler filled with bottled water and healthy snacks and maybe some light bread and fat free sandwich meat, etc. So the only stops will be bathroom breaks and not meal breaks. We've decided to drop off the dog at mom and dad's enroute on Thursday morning since we're heading that way. It's normally a 5 hour trip but we've got all day so we're going to take it easy and enjoy the trip. Hopefully it'll be a nice day.

No, I don't know why I'm telling you all this. :dizzy: Rambling again. Sure beats working though. ;)

But I guess I'd better get to it. Hm... but first I'm checking my lottery tickets ... just in case....

SEMO 05-07-2003 09:19 AM

Just doing a check in, real quick. We are having terrible storms with tornados all around us. So Scary.......

Sister is doing very well, much better than I ever dreamed. I'm taking her to the doctor Friday to remove the staples. Ouch, that's gonna hurt. Other than my house being turned upside down, I'm doing fine with her staying there. (she tends to sort of take over spaces, bathroom counter, living room.) Oh well, she will probably go home next week so I can handle the extra work and mess until then.

I've kept my pound off, so that's two down and eight to go. Now when is it that we're supposed to have ten off?

Speaking of ticks, one of the salesmen got one the other day and yesterday was running a fever with chills and a sick stomach. He's Going to the doctor to see if it was from that tick.

No time for shout outs girls, but just wanted to say hello.

Tigerlily 05-07-2003 09:34 AM

Hi Everyone!
:stress: TICK IN MY BED!:tired: I couldn't sleep a wink after that. I'm gonna have to start making everyone do the hokey-pokey before they come indoors.
In addition to the tick, I think I was stress'n. We've decided to put in a pond. Brain racing, is it the right thing to do, how big, where at, what shape??? We have stakes out in the yard right now. I'm sure I'll be out moving them around today...in the rain. I swear, I stress over what color panties to buy. :p

Jello, your "cooler plan" sounds good. We avoid driving long distances right now. One word. Kids. Luckily, we have a nice State Park less than 30 minutes from the house. Duct tape the kids mouths, and off we go.

SEMO, I saw the tornados were in your area. How close?

DNW, Take time for yourself! *cough*that means us*cough*

I'm off to balance the check book and pay bills. Bla.

:df:

Tigerlily 05-07-2003 12:49 PM

Do I have cooties or what? You guys act like ya all have jobs or something. :p

I'm taking DS to the dentist. And then, we are going to brave the mall. I hate the mall. WAY BAD for the ego. But, hopefully not as terrible since it's a week day. :crossed:

Hope everyone is ok and STOP working so hard!

Cafe976 05-07-2003 01:47 PM

Tig, you maniac, you don't have cooties - you have TICKS!

I have a hard time with decisions, too.

Jello - loved the snack article, thanks! Gives me some ideas too. I wish there was a quick fix for the road munchies - how about a good book? Read out loud to the driver- you can't eat and read out loud at the same time, LOL.

SEMO - Stay away from the twisters!

DNW - databases - when they're good they're very very good - when they're bad....

I'm in a big fat rush today so just a quick hello from me!

Jello 05-07-2003 02:25 PM

Tiger, I was just trying to stay away from all the "tick talk". Makin' me itchy! :hyper: BTW, don't ever accuse me of working so hard ever again! :snooty: Humph! What a thing to say .... when the boss isn't around.

Cafe, can't read in a moving car. Makes me feel all "barfy". :tape: Don't wanna go there.

Boss is gone for the day. Had to go pick up his wife and daughter at the airport or some such thing. Hey, I don't care. He's not here, that's all that matters! :s: Now I have time for important things!

Not much to say actually. And though that's never stopped me before, I'd better go now. Have a few things to catch up on. Then I'm off to Curves. :D

Later!

Tigerlily 05-08-2003 09:25 AM

Ticks, Cooties...same thing.:dizzy:
I slept better last night...no ticks, no pond stress. Could also be because I had a nice long walk.:smug:

The mall wasn't horrific. Got in, got out. Not too many Mall Rats there during the day. DS trips me out. He's six and he's a CLOTHES HOUND! This time he was begging for new shoes.

I'm still reading the actual Atkins Diet book. Sugar:devil: White Flour:devil:
It's just so bleep'n hard to drag the family like a ball'n chain into a new way of eat'n. :stress:
With that said, I'm off to the grocery store.
Hope everyone is having a good day!

DNW 05-08-2003 11:37 AM

Hi Guys..
Survived my database and finally I have some air to breathe. Unfortunately it's full of pollen and its been raining for days.

Semo: I have seen the news about the destruction in MO. Is that anywhere near you?

Tiger: Thanks for the reminder to take time for myself and yes I do need to stay in contact with you all. :grouphug:

My Prozac finally kicked in and the fog is lifting. Trying to get my food in line and I am still journaling it. Gotta admit seeing the numbers keeps me from going off the deep end with food.

I called the Renfrew center and they will have more information for me by the end of the week in reference to what my insurance will and won't cover. I am keeping an open mind about this place only because a negative attitude will cloud any good it might do.

Ah those food demons....kill, kill, kill!!!!

brighterdays 05-08-2003 10:55 PM

Hi all,

Just dropped by to catch up a bit....have had bad storms in our area (SEMO knows!) and I've had the computer off each evening due to lightning...don't want to be without a computer!

DNW: so glad you are getting some help..admire you for your insight into what YOU need! We women don't always see that right away. Take care of yourself, girl!

Jello: I'm back to the gym again....as of today. Tired of the plateauing and onward and downward on the WW scale, I hope! I've also been walking in the evenings. I have found a tasty "purse food" that might help in a pinch on your trip... Mind you, I am not a granola person....keep trying to be one but can't quite do it.... But, I found a bar called "Nature Valley Apple Cinnamon Chewy Trail Mix" bar. It is very good with almonds, sunflower seeds, cranberry, and apple. 150 cal, 6gm fat, and 1 gm fiber. I think it is at least 3-4 WW pts. but I'll have to check again. Nice and filling with a bit of salt and sweet. I stuffed one in my purse for an outdoor graduation that I went to (that lasted into my lunchtime) and my niece and I shared it. I was perfectly fine until we went to lunch later. There are some others called Nature Valley Trail Mix---Fruit and Nut that are good, too, but I prefer the apple ones.

Cafe: are you getting any of these storms up your way? Kinda wicked down here lately!

Tiger: watch out for those icky ticks! If a bite turns into "bulls eye" rash, it's time to head to your doctor for an early dose of antibiotics---ticks carry lyme's disease in our part of the country!

Semo: you sound like such a nice nursey! Sis will never forget your kindness!

Gotta go....not gonna get my treadmilling in tonight if I don't stop typing!

Have a great weekend, all!

:) Bright

Jello 05-09-2003 08:51 AM

Brighter! So good to see you here! :D Thanks for the suggestion. I've seen Nature Valley granola bars but never the chewy ones. :?: I'm not a granola person either. But I think I'll take a look in the cereal aisle next time I'm at the store. It'll be a nice change from the fruit and/or veggies I've been thinking about taking.

DNW, glad you're feeling better. We can't have our thread missing our Sarge!

Well, last Wed, I got dropped off at Curves and then walked home. About 3/4 of a mile in the humidity ALL UPHILL. It was a little rough. Biggest problem was no water bottle. If I do that again, I'll have to plan a little better for the trip home. I was thinking of walking home again after the class tonight but we're supposed to have thunderstorms. Could be a little scary. :fr:

Tiger, glad the mall wasn't too bad. I usually don't mind going on a weekday during the school year. It's the weekends and the summers that scare me. Don't teenagers have anything better to do than hang around and be unruly?

Actually, I have to do some serious shopping this weekend. I need, oh about everything. I need things like soap and shampoo and toothpaste but I also need to buy some shoes. And I need cleaning products like Windex and laundry detergent and Lysol. Then I want to buy a couple of new tops and maybe some lightweight casual pants for the trip. I also have to buy a couple birthday and graduation cards. Oh and I need socks. And camera film. And then.... well, you get the idea. I'm going to be all over the place.

And now I'm tired just thinking about it. Um, Nurse Semo, can I come to your house and get some TLC too? Seriously, hope your sister is recovering nicely.

I'd better go. Oh yeah ... TGIF!!!! :D

huntress 05-09-2003 11:38 AM

Hi all!

Sorry I haven't been around lately, my computer at home went out. Hope to get it back soon since it's hard as you know what to get on at work.

I'm doing well on a new food plan I found in an old prevention magazine called Change One. I think it's similar to the old, old version of WW or ever Richard Simmons. They give you guidelines of what to eat such as one fruit, one grain and one milk for breakfast, etc. I like it much better than counting points or calories and so far so good. I haven't been doing any exercise this week due to a bad case of poison ivy I got working in my back yard (which happens to look like a jungle).

Hope you're all doing well and I get a chance to talk to you more soon.

Lajuna

Jello 05-09-2003 04:06 PM

Hi Huntress! Good to see you again. Sorry to hear about the poison ivy. I did that a few years ago. I looked like I got naked and rolled in the stuff! :( Anyway, hope you're back computing from home again soon.

To everyone, I'd like to say HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!!! Be good. ;)

brighterdays 05-11-2003 11:53 AM

Hi all,

My first Mother's Day card came from a friend of my daughter who always calls me "Mom". My next Mother's Day card was made on this very computer by my daughter and a tray of annuals was attached (she said "WE will plant them"). My sons have yet to surprise me....

Hope you all are having a nice day!:balloons:

 "Bright"

Happy Mother's Day to all Mothers, stepMothers, grandMothers, Mother-in-laws, foster Mothers, and any Mothers I may have forgotten!

Jello 05-12-2003 08:41 AM

Haven't had a "lost weekend" in a while so I guess I was due for one. Boy, did I fall off the wagon! And it must have been a very fast, very high wagon 'cause I'm battered, beaten and bruised. :headache: Boy, was I stupid in my food choices! :sorry:

Got on the scale this morning and wanted to cry. In fact, I think I might have. But I'm going to regroup. I just have to. :drill: I'm packing only comfortable walking shoes for our vacation trip. The hotel we're staying at is within 2-3 miles from Mystic Seaport, the Aquarium, the outlet shopping ;) and I plan to walk, walk, walk, walk, walk.

My personal challenge: let's see if I can have a really good time without "indulging". Just because I'm on vacation doesn't mean I get to go completely overboard, right? The wagon's heading for Connecticut and I plan to be on it! :crossed:

Happy belated Mother's Day to all of you moms out there! Hope you all had a good one and a good weekend!

Brighter, what a great gift from your daughter! :D Happy planting!

Have to run. A week's work to do in 3 days. Have a good one all!

QuilterInVA 05-12-2003 10:07 AM

Hey, Huntress, I know where you are coming from. The exchanges always have kept me more on program then just chosing willie-nillie, plus the nutritionist works this way. Most special diets do, diabetic, heart, etc.

Hope you all had a great Mother's Day. It was lovely for me.

SEMO 05-12-2003 10:51 AM

Good Morning Ladies and a belated Happy Mother's Day. Kids were home and we all went out for lunch yesterday. Food was not very good and the music was WAY too loud. But any day I spend with the kids is a good day.

My sister went home last night, I'm thinking it's too early, but she went anyway. It will take a day or two to get everything back where it's supposed to be and clean up the house and get things back to normal. Well, I don't know about normal, youngest son quit his job and is looking for another, so he's home all day now. So life goes on....

Work isn't any better, but just wanted to pop in and say hello.

Hi. I just finished mowing the yard...well, what I could mow. Mother Nature left me a couple small ponds of her own. I hate spending all that time mowing and it still looks like crap. I have lovely mud tracks and clumpy wet clippings. Apartment life sounding really good right about now.:s:

Friday, I found out that the tumors on my Dad's brain have gotten smaller. I still don't feel like I know enough, although that was good news. Now if they could just say the same about the spots on his lung. Inconclusive fries my pea-brain.

On the diet front...I suck. That pretty much wraps it up. I must not want it bad enough, I don't know. I'm thinking about seeing a doctor. Sadly, I haven't seen one for several years. Luckily, I don't get sick...not that I'll admit to anyway. :^:

I hope everyone else is doing better than me.
Jello, swing by my way with that wagon!

Jello 05-13-2003 08:35 AM

OK everyone, all together now..... Tiger, this is for you...

:grouphug:

As far as the "diet front" goes, I don't think it's really that you don't want it. I just think you've got too much other "stuff" going on right now. Don't be too hard on yourself. :^: And it IS good news about your dad. Hang in there.

Semo, I guess you're a better nurse and healer than you're giving yourself credit for! Glad your sis is doing well. You can still keep tabs on her every day, right?

Well, I got on the scale this morning and am feeling a little better. Yesterday, I did Curves and then the walk home afterward. It was cooler and not as bad as the last time. Hm, maybe I'm getting good at this??? :chin:

Meanwhile, I'm trying to decide what to pack and the weather forecasters in Connecticut can't seem to decide what it's going to be like for the next few days, much less the weekend. But the walking shoes are definitely coming with me! And they're going to get plenty of use. This I vow! :D

Talk to you all later!

Morning, everyone! Busy, busy weekend with inlaws in town from CA. So nice to read so many posts!! :)

Bright - Oddly enough, the twisters seem to be hitting everywhere but my state. We did get a lot of rain this weekend, though - but everyone says we needed it after not as much snow this winter. Stay safe!

Huntress, Quilter - I've talked to others who have done really well with food exchanges. Maybe I need to look into that - I always seem to gravitate towards spending my pts/cals on the wrong things and then getting hungry.

Tig - I'm glad there's good news about dad! The mental picture of your yard I had was kind of like a mangy dog. I'm sure it doesn't look that bad.

SEMO - You sound tired! You did good work with sis - and you're working hard at work - maybe it's time to fit in some pampering???

DNW - Glad to hear you're on the upswing. It was a rough winter what with war looming and all. Time to step into the light.

Jello, Jello - It sounds like you are going to buy the whole mall! LOL. I've been a bit like that myself lately - everything seems to go at once. New undergarments, new shoes, down the line. Haven't bought any clothes but I think I'm headed that direction.

Well, for me the new stuff is all on the non-diet front. Been wrapped up in getting ready for the big in-law visit, getting a refinance set up, shopping, :o showers, graduations, weddings... Dancing my way through all that hasn't left much time to think about eating before I do it. Not good. What I need is just to start journaling. Today. I think I will do it right now! See - you guys inspire me.

SEMO 05-14-2003 08:29 AM

Here at work by 7:00, been working past 6:00 Mon & Tues, rush should slow down in a couple of weeks.......... I'm getting too old for this sh!t.......... but too young to draw social security.:o What's a girl to do????

Did manage to exercise when I got home last night, of course the house is still a wreck from the week before but I'm working on it. Anyone have plans for Memorial Weekend? Our wedding aniversary is the 31st - 34 years. WOW, that sounds really long but it's gone by in a flash. BTW I was only 10 when we married!
:D

Gotta run ladies, Have a great day.........anyone heard from Dyan?

Jello 05-14-2003 08:29 AM

Yes, Tiger. For me, it IS Friday!!! :D

This might be my last post before we leave for vacation. If so, I want to say goodbye  and hope you all have a great couple of days while I'm gone. I won't have internet access until I get back to work on Wednesday but I'll be thinking of you and keeping an eye on you..... Bwahahahahahaha!!!!

Seriously, I'm going to try to be very good food-wise and I'm going to be using my thoughts of you guys to keep me on the straight and narrow. :drill:

Oh hey Brighter! I found those Nature Valley granola bars at the store last night and bought a box. Actually, I got the fruit and nut ones and they're going with us on the trip along with some grapes, lots of bottles of water and a few other odds and ends. I'm going to be good! :smug:

Well, hope to check in with all of you again later! If not, "see" you next week!

Tigerlily 05-14-2003 01:32 PM

Hey work'n girls!

Jello, have fun on your trip! Walk, walk, walk!

Semo, only 10 when you married. My parents have been married 36 years (my age). I wonder if they think it's gone by in a flash. :chin:
I dont have any big plans for Memorial Weekend. I'd be happy for some nice weather and taming the mangy dog (yard).

Last night, someone hit our mailbox and ofcourse they didn't stop to claim the damage. We had the same rusty one out there for 5 years...put a new one out this spring! And it gets better... DH lost his wallet at work today. He got it back, with all the money GONE! I'm having a little bit of an attitude problem right about now. I think my head is gonna blow off.

Anybody have any chocolate?!

SEMO 05-14-2003 01:58 PM

Just popped in to wish Jello a WONDERFUL time...........

Wishing I could sneak in your suitcase and go too!

Have Fun.
