I'm here!!! At long last!! Oh how I've missed you guys. :(
Actually, I have been checking in every now and then but things are INSANE :stress: at work and I've had NO time. Then my 'puter went kaphlooie!! (It's a word - look it up!) And my boss is quite the lunatic ... oh have I mentioned that before? He's off somewhere bothering someone else at the moment so I'm posting real quick. It's been raining for 3 days here and, although it's not snow, it's certainly depressing the heck outta' me. My little crocuses have bloomed at home and other bulbs have sprouted. I've forgotten what I planted but can't wait to find out! Meanwhile, Curves places are popping up EVERYWHERE around here. The one on my way home from work is expanding its hours. The one about 10 minutes from my house should be opening in the next few weeks. And I've just found another one that just opened about 3 blocks from work! I'm taking this as a sign that says "Oh Jelllllloooooo!!! You know you want to join us!!!!" Oh but there's not enough hours in the day!!! Boss is off to another trade show next week which means he'll be a madman today trying to finish everything before he goes. Ah but next week.... Can't hardly wait. Maybe I'll have a moment or two to spend on Jello!! I've rambled on enough. :sorry: Tiger, I'm thinking of you and your father today. You're in my prayers. Huntress, listen to DNW and turn off the TV. It's OK to check in every now and then to see what's happening but don't make it the only thing you think about. Just remember the troops in your prayers at night. Cafe, yes! First day of spring - time for a new start! Great idea! :D Hello to everyone I didn't address personally. I think about you guys all the time. Especially when I go to Terrysvillage.com, right Tiger!? Great shopping! If I don't get back here today, I wish you all a great weekend! I'll be installing hardwood floors. Think of me fondly. :^: |
Oh sure. I come back and you guys all disappear!! It's no wonder I have a complex. :stress:
Well, hope you all have a great weekend anyway..... :^: |
Again another quickie........like Jello I am drowning in work....so I have no time to think about the war but I am praying for the troops even though I am so against this war.
Huntress: I am putting all my faith in you know who because I remember reading in the bible that he said...there will be wars and rumors of wars but you will not see me...for no one knows the hour or the day that I will come...but be ready. Now I am not overly religious but I do believe in a higher power who's will I have to believe in and try follow so I am not going to be afraid. This war is not in our hands unfortunately...because if women had the power there would be no wars!! Huntress just trust in your higher power to take care of you!! We will be fine... Tiger: Prayers going out for you and your Dad please update on his condition as soon as you can. Semo, Dyan, Quilter, Jello, Brighter, Tiffany, Holly, Kyla: Big Smooches and NY is still standing so far :grouphug: |
Hello Chickies!
War overload here. I'm ready for a good movie, shut down my brain for a couple hours! Things went as planned for my dad's surgery today. It was called sterotactic radiosurgery. They mount a frame to the skull to hold it perfectly still while they zap it with the x-knife radiation. (my pea-brain interpretation) We wont know right away how successful it was...have to give time for the tumors to break up...will know more after his next scan. He's such a trooper, always in good spirits and positve he's going to beat it. I've ate terrible today. It doesn't make sense. The one thing I CAN CONTROL to make myself feel better. :chin: I can't control all the **** going on around me, but I can control...should be able to control...what I put in my mouth. Thank you for all the good wishes and prayers. Hope everyone has a good weekend. :grouphug::?: :?: |
For All of Us Who Need a Good Laugh!!
Went to see "Bringin' Down the House" with Steve Martin and Queen Latifah...it was hilarious and the both of them pitted against each other with their individual brand of comedy is perfect!! Go see it ...you will pee your pants, and laugh your butt off!!
Smooches!! |
Good Morning all,
SEMO: Way to go on your exercise program and wt. loss! What an energetic woman! DNW: I THOUGHT that movie looked good....thanks for the review. Turning off the media coverage right now... Tiger: Kudos to your dad---what a brave man! You asked about ways to control what you eat during the day and what works for me is the same breakfast (usually about 4-5 WW pts.) and packing my lunch/snacks for work. I'm sure I'd have a rough time if I was a stay at home mom like you ( there are too many choices) but I'd probably have to limit my grocery shopping. My kids wouldn't like that too much and I can understand your dilemma with hubby and kids to feed. Lately, I try to fix low fat dishes on the weekend (soups/pasta salad/chicken dishes) and freeze them in individual servings. I have ,also, been finding some good foods like the chicken/cheese quesadilla, individ. pkgd, at Sam's club which I think are 5 points and my youngest loves them! I can take one of those to work and add a salad for lunch. Jello: we have a "Curves" around here, too, I think. Most people really like it. Happy Hardwood Floor Day! Huntress: Glad LV was good! I'm like you...bring on the time change! Going walking again today. Quilter: Funny poem. There is an email circulating here about the weapons inspectors needing to be moms....I can relate big time to that one and it's funny! Cafe: Still waiting for more tropical stories.... Didn't get to weigh in at noon on Tuesday....unexpected company at work....so I had to weigh later. Showed I was up 2#! The leader said it was my walking...something about water retention for my joints??? My digital scale (which is close to the WW one) says I'm down again, as of yesterday, so maybe they were right...??? :?: I'm excited about being able to wear some capri pants that I bought on sale last spring. You see....I was trying on pants at a big sale and thought, "oh, I'll lose that fat on my stomach and thighs with the inc. in activity in the summer and be able to wear these". So, I bought them---two pairs. I didn't get to wear them at all last summer-still have the tags on them! Last week, I tried them on and they fit! Woo-hoo! :D Gotta go....wrote a book since I didn't have time to post this week much. Take care all, "Bright" :balloons: |
Thanks for the words of encouragement ladies, I did turn the TV & radio off this weekend. I blame this all on the news media anyway. They even interrupted all regular programming for a whole day to cover it. I was mainly concerned about the possibility of terrorism at the onset of the war since that's what I'd heard.
So I went to see my friend yesterday and she looks incredible! I shouldn't have been surprised since she always seems to lose quickly. Think I mentioned it before but WOW. Once again I'm giving it some serious thought simply because diabetes and heart problems run in my family. I figure if the reason I'm not able to lose is because I eat too much sugar and refined white flour products this may be the way to go. The 1st two weeks are the worst anyway and after that you can add more foods in. Can't be anything wrong with eating salad and broiled meats. You also have to cut out caffeine which wouldn't be a bad thing either. Anyway since my tryglicerides are high and the dr told me it was sugar and starchy foods maybe this will help. With spring and summer on the way fresh veggies and fruit will be plentiful and I have a gas grill for making chicken breast, etc. SEMO- What did you decided to do? Have any thoughts you want to share with me? Thanks again to all of you for being so kind. Being a single mother I'm a worry wart and sometimes let it get the best of me. Tigerlily - I'm glad to hear things went well with your fathers surgery. He has a good attitude which makes a lot of difference. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Love to all, LJ |
Good Morning. The kids are on springbreak. :fr: This could be a very long week...
Huntress, me too...too much white stuff. I've made some progress, buying 100%wheat bread and trying to make buckwheat pancakes...but plenty of room for improvement. Bright, your right..I get to stay at home with the frig all day! I try to make good choices when I'm grocery shopping. You ever notice how the little bit of "junk" ya do buy disappears the fastest?:o Or, the apples sit around until they get soft...then I have to make Apple Crisp.:^: DH is still no help. He wants take out pizza, he wants ice cream. I'm still working on switching to skim milk. Right now were on 2%. Every once in a while I sneak in a gallon of skim...poor it in w/the 2%.:s: Subliminal message for Jello, *curves*:strong: *curves* later girls :df: |
Hello, ladies...he's gone on vacation for 10 days! I'm FREE at last to breath and drop an occasionaly message to my booty camp buddies.
I found a nice lady who had taken an early retirement from the government and just wants to get out of the house so this part-time job is great and she's done it before. Spring has arrived and I feel like a new person -- and also fat and out of shape, but I'm working on that! Tigerlily, I'm keepin your dad in my prayers. DNW I need a good laugh so I think I'll get my husband to take me to the movies next weekend. The war is getting me down. The nutritionist the doctor referred me to has me on a higher protein, lower carb, low fat, no white sugar/flour/rice/pasta plan that has really improved the way I feel and got me losing again. I only have 4 servings of carbs throughout the day and 8 servings of LOW FAT protein. Took a little getting used to because I love starches in any guise. Worked at the quilt shop on Saturday - they store has been enlarged to take in a vacant store next door so we toted a lot of fabric bolts around to get everything rearranged. Seems to me like that should count for exercise. Teaching a class there this Saturday. I hope you all have a great day! I'm going for a walk at lunch time. |
It's Monday again. :( How long before the boss calls in from the road?? I'm taking bets around here.
Got plenty of exercise this weekend laying the wood floors. Dining room is done and looks wonderful. Living room ... ah well, nothing ever goes as planned, eh? Ever see the commercials for that interlocking wood laminate flooring? Cute little couple smiling and laying out the floor. Wham, bam, and twenty minutes later, a beautiful show place floor, all bright and shiny with all the furniture in place.... Yeah right. Reality check! Let's find that cute little couple and, oh, beat them with some wood laminate flooring..... But like I said, I worked all sorts of muscles and am sore sore sore today. :headache: Didn't have much time to eat either so I guess that's good. Maybe sometime in the next month or so, we might actually finish the rest of the floor?? Huntress, I ran into an old friend of mine on Sunday at the Home Depot. I walked right past her and she had to tease me because I didn't recognize her. She's doing Atkins too and has lost almost 100 lbs!!! She looks great and claims to feel healthy too. I'm happy for her but, well, grumble grumble. Green eyed monster and all that. Tiger, I'm so glad to hear from you! Sounds like your dad's a real winner! What a great attitude! He's sure to beat it with that kind of thinking! Well, I'm off to do Monday morning reports. Waste of paper but what the heck. That's why I make all the big bucks around here. And after work today, I'm driving up to the hospital for my annual mammogram! :o Oh what an exciting life I lead..... |
Wow! Tiger and Quilter snuck in while I was posting. Hello! That's what I like! Action around here!
Tiger, I'm thinking about it, I'm thinking about it..... |
WHAT HAPPEN! We sure have some early birds out this morning! Really, glad to see so many out and posting. :flow1: Suns shinning and we are rolling.
Had a good weekend, exercised and ate well. Worked in the yard most of the weekend and today I'm a little stiff. We have a little over an acre yard, filled with trees, nuff said. Also painted the doors, we had tan siding put up in the carport and on the trim of the house last fall and the yellow doors just didn't look that GREAT. I got the first coat on and when I finish that I have to get the trim work done on the porch. Who was it that wanted out of the apartment.......... Tig, glad that your Dad is doing okay and hope everything was a success. Guys, I've got to get, have a good day. |
Hi. Weather here is great. Got my butt outside and raked with the kids for 2 hours. Noodle arms! Exercise :cb: woohoo!
If my arms hadn't turned to mush, there's enough raking to do all day. :^: maybe tomorrow... Semo, did your terry's village stuff arrive? Mine came Friday. It was descent enough for the price. Jello, I did the "house project" thing all weekend too. This weekend was "re-work" the cobbled up stairs. I actually had the nerve to tell DH next winter I want to put laminate floor in the kitchen & laundry area. Poor man's head nearly exploded. Kids are eat'n some mixed fruit, think I need to join them. |
I still can't help but think of Tiff when ever I see or use the crazy banana. :(
|
Tig, you got your stuff FRIDAY.:stress: Where's mine. Did it come UPS or snail mail?
I do wonder where Tif and Dyan are, you can't tell me that they aren't reading the post :p and just not posting. Come on ya'll, show your faces. |
