...is so much harder than I realized before!! I became an Intuitive Eater about a month ago, and it's been going great. But man, is it hard when I'm at my parents house!! I'm only here for a week or so before I head to a new job for some weeks (I freelance). I think it's a combo of having a lot of food around me, not having much to do when I'm home aside from relaxing (which usually turns into cooking and baking all sorts of things that I freeze for my family to have later), and not being totally in control of my food choices (my mom figures out a menu for each week). It's also a bit tougher because I'm not totally on my own schedule-we all sit down to eat when we're together, and IE is about eating when you're hungry, so I either have to go for a bit even when I'm quite hungry because I know the meal is on its way, or I just eat when I'm hungry even though there's a meal coming soon. But then it could just be a tough week anyway-I had a trip to NY just before I came home that was pretty disastrous, and it was TOM when I first arrived.
Thankfully, they have gotten very healthy lately, due to a very small heart attack my dad had a few months ago--he's doing very well, and he now watches his fat, cals, and his sodium-- so there's tons of healthy stuff in the house now, especially compared to what they used to stock the house with, and my family is very supportive of me on all levels.On the good side, I get to see my dog when I'm here so I take him on walks. I love my family, but jeez, I can't wait to have some more control over my eating schedule!! Anyone had to deal with this?
