I am glad to hear you are trying new veggies! I also find it helpful to check out the recipes here on this site, and in healthy/low fat type cookbooks and learn new recipes for veggies I like. What is really good is to take a boneless skinless chicken breast for however many people you are cooking for, and cut it up into pieces, cook them in a pan with a bit of Pam spray until they are done, and mix in a bag of frozen stir fry vegetables, and maybe just a dash of teryaki or soy sauce-it makes a great quick stir-fry and you are getting your veggies in a tasty way.
Georgialady-congrats on the 2 pounds down! Aphil |
Hello everyone! Today is the moment of truth for me. The official weigh in:fr: Okay, as of this morning I'm at 155. So if I sty true to my plan and shoot for a pound a week, I hope to be at 154 next Friday.
One small triumph for me was last night. My husband, meaning well, of course, brought home a large pizza last night. I am proud to say that I had only one piece. I cut it up in small pieces and savored it. So one small victory for me. My biggest problem is portion sizes. It seems that if I am faced with something I love...like pizza, I will literally gorge myself, like I will never have the opportunity to eat pizza again! So I am working to still be able to eat the foods I love, just not so much of it. Everyone have a great day! |
Thanks Aphil -- I definitely like anything having to do with stir-fry. One pan, lots of veggies, soy sauce...it doesn't get any better.
I am procrastinating a bit this morning. Needed to get with the workout first thing but have prepared the payroll, done laundry, etc. and now it's 10:30. I should always get that workout in first thing...it's just to easy to let it slide. Hope everyone has a great weekend planned. We're going to try to get out and just drive in the country. It's hard to believe that it's still winter. Jacklyn - way to go!!! 155!!!!:bravo: |
Did somebody say Payroll?
Hmmmm?...payroll. Geogia I didn't realize you knew about accounting stuff. Perhaps I can look to you when I need some basic understanding of my payroll homework?
Guess what! SPRING BREAK...that's what! All to myself...yay! Of course that isn't a yippeee yay only because I have alot of homework to do and studying for the following week. But it is a well needed break. I can see these new chics have us more motivated and of course our Drill Sgt. Aphil is an amazing ball of energy. BTW, Aphil I like your avatar. I think you should look for a "I dream of Jeannie" clipart and set that right up there. That will fit you like a T. Just an idea. Well the kids have science projects they need to research. That reminds me that is something I will be doing while I am on "break". Yay, no work, no school for a whole week. Okay I am out of here. I have to make a few calls. Kina |
Hi everyone!
Jacklyn, I'll be using Friday as my weigh-in day also...I am at 145. I would like very much to at least pare down to 142, which I was at late last summer. I think I'll be using our road trip as the goal date; that is April 28th. Sounds reasonable, doesn't it? Hope everyone is having a good day, and have a great evening! Your friend, Holly 176/145/142?:D |
Oh yeah, I'm the lucky one alright!
Kina, I sorta inherited the payroll job. I married a "House Mover" and I get to do ALL the bookkeeping and office work and I don't get paid a cent. Funny thing is, I went to college thinking I wanted to be an accountant and decided that was not for me. Now I am doing all kinds of record keeping and dealing with our accountant so that's the way it ended up. No complaints though, really. DH is a great guy. We'll celebrate our 20th next Wed. Also, wanted to mention my latest new best friend.......Klondike Slim a Bear ice cream sandwiches. They come in vanilla and chocolate and have only 130 cals. AND 3 grams of fiber each!!! I had one of each tonight after dinner just so I could be able to make an intelligent decision as to which flavor was best. I like both equally. |
Hi everyone!
Kina-that was funny that you mentioned the avatar...I was browsing through a zillion avatars online today looking for new ones that fit me a little more than the ones on this site...I haven't found a bellydanceror genie one yet, but I am looking! I have found ones from some cool Sci-fi types of movies that I love though...and some fairies and gothic type avatars. DH and I were just playing with some pictures online-making a picture of our kids with devil horns, stuff like that. It was fun. I got in an hours workout today-weight training for 45 minutes, and then 15 minutes of dancing. My son absolutely loves it when I dance with a veil. He kindof gets underneath me and looks up at it while it is moving-and just squeals! :D jacklyn-your goal of 1 pound a week is a very reasonable goal. Good job on the pizza-if your dh will let you order it, instead of surprising you with it-order a Pizza Hut thin and Crispy crust veggie lovers-only 190 calories a slice-depending on your calories for the day, you can have two or even three pieces! ;) We actually ordered a pizza tonight-I ordered a regular meat one for Jason and the kids-and I had a Healthy Choice pizza still in the freezer-so I ate that with a side of vegetables instead. I have started a new supplement-not a diet supplement, as I don't believe in taking those, but a health food supplement. I really try to eat as healthy foods as I possibly can in close to or whole form, but on some days I still have a lack of energy-so I researched and started taking Royal Jelly today. (Royal Jelly is a substance from bees-they make honey for themselves to eat, but they also make royal jelly for the queen.) It is a very potent natural food source. I took it this morning, and I just sailed through my workout, added the 15 minutes extra of dancing-and have been bouncing through the day. (It is not any sort of speed or caffiene though) I can really tell a difference. Well, I better get going. I need to get these kids into bed! Hve a great night! Aphil |
Still here!!
Hey everyone!!
Just a quick post to let you all know I am still here. Wow... a few pages to get through!! We have had a busy couple of weeks and I have kept going to the gym, staying on track with the food and today at WW I finally broke the plateau and reached the 10% weightloss goal. This means I am at a weight I was when I started working full time!! yay!! So happy. After a 6 week +/- a half pound... my body is finally giving it up! woohoo!! Well.... I must run here, just thought that I would let you know I am still alive, lurking and getting heaps of motivation from all of you. Keep up the good work!! Nola. |
Good morning everyone!
I hope everyone woke up with good feelings about themselves, and life! I am psyched because, last night we spoke by phone for the first time to the guy who we met online, whom we are meeting in NY State on the first day of our road trip; then traveling together to our destination of St. Louis, MO. Another fellow we met is putting us up for two nights, which will greatly help in all the $$$ that are going to be spent...but this will be a trip to be remembered, so it is worth it! My workouts now are done with the hopes that my body will hold up, physically and mentally, for our long days of riding; the first one will be the toughie; 8 hours of solid riding; then with stops figured in, more like 9 1/2 hours on the road. That is called "iron-butting" it! Hey, Kanola, congrats on keeping with it, and for knocking off that pesky half-pound! I am so happy for you, that you are doing so well and happy for yourself! GeorgiaLady, thanks for the info on the ice cream bars - I will look for them at our grocery store. Hi Kina, hooray for your spring break! I hope you can enjoy it fully, with time for yourself, but also your studying. Aphil, yes, I like the new avatar also! Women working for their muscles - yeah! Hi Jacklyn, good victory on the pizza!!!! It is hard enough to make the wise choices without the large pizza staring you in the face...very hard for me to realize JUST BECAUSE IT'S THERE, DOESN'T MEAN I HAVE TO EAT IT!!!! So true at my work, when there are heaps of bakery treats. OH! I triumphed over a broken oatmeal cookie - HOW tempting is it to just pop it in my mouth - but I grimly took it over to the trash and threw it out!!!!! :D Hi Christine! Hope you and the family are doing fine! Oh, I know what you mean about, all of a sudden you are wanting certain foods when before you didn't care a whit about them. Difficult! Keep coming back here for our continued support! Nancy - I am hoping that your DH made it home to you last night!!!! (following censored - hee hee) Good luck with the packing now. And i hope your readjusted meds will help you. Well, ladies, get those workouts done early in the day so you have them done! Drink your water, and work towards your goals!!! Rah-rah! Your friend, Holly |
Hello everyone!
I am having a great Saturday! I got up and made breakfast for Jason and the kids, and then he took them both with him down to his parents. I have the house to myself!!!! :) I talked to my mother for ages on the phone, and now I am making myself a new pair of "woobie" pants-flannel, comfy, lounging-pajama type pants. I have the cutest fabric in baby blue with chocolate Hostess cupcakes all over them. If I have enough left over, I may make a pair of lounging shorts as well. I have done extremely well these past few days with my diet and exercise-in the hopes that sometime over the next week or so, that I will make it to the 179 mark-and be no longer in the 180's. My mother told me that she ran into my high school sweetheart-and that he was asking a zillion questions about me. He is married with kids as well-but it is nice to know that you are still thought of fondly. His parents own the campground that my mom and stepdad camp at, so they see him a lot. My mom said when I get down to my weight goal, that I need to go camping with them to "flaunt it." You know, to make him sorry that he didn't settle down and marry me way back then...hee hee. She is terrible-but I MAY flaunt it just for fun. :D (Jason is really cool about stuff like that-I actually think he gets a kick out of me getting male attention when we go out somewhere.) Well, I better run and try to get these pants done before they all come back! Aphil |
Hello!
I am having a great Monday-and had a very productive weekend! I just did a killer weight training workout-it is a tape by Rachel McClish-the female bodybuilder. I actually got a few trembles while doing the last few reps of a couple of the exercises! I am on a major adrenaline rush after doing that one! I weighed in, and am still at the same weight as last week-hopefully it will go down the next weigh-in. I am not discouraged though, because I have really stepped up my workouts in weight and in intensity, so I should be seeing some changes very soon! I got so much done over the weekend-I got my shorts done, made Jaz a blanket for her Barbie doll house/Barbie bed, went and got some landscaping supplies to start doing the spring yard thing...I feel like an Energizer bunny-no joke! :hyper: Well, I need to get the house straightened and get into the shower-my mother will be here in about an hour and a half to see the kids! Have a great day! Aphil |
Just thought Id share . . .
I had my first weekly weigh-in today and I'm down 1.5 pounds! :D 3 more pounds and I'm outta the 170s.. I can't wait! Christine 174/172.5/130 First goal: 169 |
Hello Everyone...I've been lurking and reading this thread for weeks, and feel like I know all of you personally. I've got some great ideas from everyone here about foods and exercise, Thanks! I joined WW on Jan. 9, 2003 and so far I'm down 26.2 #. Tonight is another weigh in....last night I finished off 3 of my son's deep fried chicken fingers...OUCH! You all are very much into exercise...I know I need to be, but I have four kids, a full time job, when do you find the time??!! I have tons of excuses don't I???:o Thanks for including me in this great thread!
|
Idealperson,
You are right about the excuses. The key to getting in regular exercise is to stop making excuses about time, etc. and to just do it-the earlier in the day the better, so it is overwith. I do volunteer work at a couple of websites, and my kids are almost 2 and 4-and if I can make the time to exercise with them, so can you! ;) You need to carve out 20-40 minutes each day just for you-and stick to it. We all make the time to go get groceries, or get a haircut, pay the bills, or other things we need to do-exercising is no different. I either work out early in the morning before my kids get up, or during my son's naptime. (I give my daughter some craft supplies or Play-Doh or something to keep her occupied for that time.) You will feel much better when you do it, and your body will greatly improve! I tell everyone, you CAN be 110 pounds and fat if you do not exercise. I have seen size 2 women with a saggy rear and flabby inner thighs! I would rather be a size 8 and have firm legs and shapely arms and shoulders! Christine-good for you on your first 1.5 pounds gone!!!! You are going to be in fit pre-baby shape before you know it! Aphil |
I agree about the exercising...I don't really enjoy it most of the time ( or maybe the thought of getting started) but I do it anyway. I have to do it first thing in the morning or I usually won't get around to it. I always feel much better AFTER I exercise...it gives me a feeling of accomplishment.
