Thanks Sophie, I think I made up my mind that I would go and only eat the food approved for phase 1. I will keep you guys posted on how it went. Also, what is the difference between the extreme fat smash and the original fat smash diet?
|
unstoppable - Good for you for sticking to the diet! It'll pay off in the end, you'll see ;) The original fat smash is much more free. You eat from the allowed food list. There's 4 phases. The exercise starts at 30 mins up to 1 hour in time.
The extreme version is a strict diet you have to follow. You're menu is all planned out for you. It's only 21 days though. You exercise pretty much every day for 1 hour. The good part about the extreme though is that you have 2 free snacks of 100 calories (could even be chocolate!). It also says you can lose 12 lbs in 3 weeks. That would be AWESOME! Today, there's no meat. For lunch, I had a salad with veggies only and fat free dressing. Wasn't as delicious but was ok. It satisfied me. So far so good. I haven't heard my stomach growling yet. |
Has anyone tracked the food you've eaten on this diet and found out how many calories you're taking in daily? I am down to having about 12 pounds to lose until goal and I've been thinking about trying the Extreme Fat Smash. I just ordered the book from the library and need to go pick it up. I've been doing the old WW points system, as well as tracking what I've been eating on Sparkpeople. I've been averaging about 1250 calories today. Just wondering if the Extreme is any more than that?
|
I know it's not many calories. I'm not sure how many though. Here's what my menu looks like for day 1:
2 egg whites 1/2 cup fruit juice 10 grapes small veggie salad yogurt 1 cup of beans 2 cups of veggies I guess it all depends on what you eat as your snacks. The original fat smash, you can eat as many fruits and veggies as you want. The menu above is from the Extreme version. Edit: Forgot to mention, you have free snacks. Dill pickles, mini carrots, celery sticks, radishes, jicama slices, pickled peppers & hard boiled egg whites. |
Hi guys, I think I'm going to be trying this diet out soon, it sounds really great. I'm allergic to soy and only eat chicken and turkey (in terms of protein). I think I have a dependency on sugary foods and need a plan where it's not really a part of the diet at all. I've actually grown to really like vegetables lately, and unlike my normal attitude towards my weight issue, I'm going to try and be really positive about this.
Does anyone have any advice that might help me? :) @PrimeTime: I love that quote in your signature! Being overweight has definitely held me back in many respects - I need to keep this in mind whenever I think that my diet is too restrictive. |
Welcome miliminime
Good luck on your journey. Stay positive and take one day at time. Unfortunately, I can not report that I resisted temptation at the retirement party I attended last night. I did not go overboard, but I did eat some things that are not approved for phase1. With that said, I am back on track and have decided to extend phase 1 a little longer. I also managed to lose an additional .2 pounds. (I had to weigh and see what the damage was lol) |
miliminime - Take it one day at a time. Don't cheat! If you cheat, you're only cheating yourself. You need to plan your menus. What I recommend is doing a big batch of something (ex. soup) and freeze portions so you don't stray from the plan. It'll be tough the first days but if you stick to it, it gets MUCH easier. :) Welcome to the group! Keep us updated.
unstoppable - That's ok. As long as you didn't go overboard and you're still going strong and not letting that stop you. I know you'll do awesome! Keep it up girl! Well, it didn't go too well for me. Friday was my day 1 of Extreme Fat Smash and I didn't continue on. I had half an ice cream cake in my freezer from my birthday and some popcorn in the house. I wanted to make sure everything was gone before going on this diet. I knew it was going to haunt me and probably make me cheat on my diet. I want to make sure there's nothing in the house that will sabatoge my progress. I'm starting again tomorrow. I'm going to get up a bit early to get 20 mins of cardio (walking) and then I'm planning on doing 20 mins during my lunch and 20 mins after dinner. That will make 60 mins of cardio which is what the diet says I should be doing tomorrow. I'll be weighing in tomorrow. I'm kinda scared to see the number but I'm really motivated since I've seen a lot of people who were commenting on my weight loss. It really felt good to hear all those nice words from them. I want to lose 10 lbs by Christmas. I told my goal to people so that they know what I'm aiming for. I know exactly what I'm eating tomorrow. I have everything planned out. I was supposed to read the book again but didn't take the time to do it. I think I'm going to keep a blog of my progress so that I can go back and read my success and maybe someday I'll need the motivation and I'll be able to look back at what I've accomplished. I can't wait to start again! Watch out, Sophie is back!! http://sophiecormier.blog.com This will be my blog :) |
Day 1 again today. Weighed in at 170.8. I was pretty surprised by that number. Thought it would've been higher. yay! Anyways... started the day with 2 egg whites & 1/2 cup of juice. Had a coffee & an apple for a snack. I had a veggie-only salad. Didn't enjoy it... I don't know if it's the dressing or what. I had some mixed greens with some cherry tomatoes and FF ranch dressing. Was only so-so. Tonight, I'm having my soup. I may end up eating baby carrots later. We'll see how my hunger goes. I didn't exercise this morning & at noon. I decided to do it all tonight. I'm going to go walking 30 mins with the dog and do 30 mins on my stationary bike (while watching tv). I hope my menu gets better... I know the weight loss is what's going to keep me going. I just need to hang in there!

I'm struggling big time!!!
I feel sick just thinking about eating on this diet and I'm only on day 1. The salad just grossed me out and now I have to eat beans tonight... I don't know if I"ll be able to follow this... I've been reading a lot about counting calories and I'm honestly thinking of starting that. I read that if I ate 1307 calories per day, I would lose a lb a week and would reach my goal weight of 135 by July 9, 2012. That would be AWESOME! Right in time for summer. I feel like a failure giving up on day 1 :( |
Hang in there Sophie, you'll find your groove!!!
|
have not gotten on the scale in almost 2 weeks-with the storm, power outage, events...bit afraid.
I'm still having fruit, but far less oatmeal and rice-which I think were helping me stay full. I actually can say I very much enjoy the rice pasta-so I do that with a veggie-filled sauce and chx. having lots of cravings-which makes me wonder if I should start P1 again? |
unstoppable - Thanks! I've been going through tough times. I don't know where to put my head. I'm so stressed lately that it's hard to focus on my weight loss. I keep having a fat girl picture in my head. I'm really unmotivated. I need to refocus somehow. I think I may start the original Fat Smash Diet. It's the only diet that's worked for me. I was on it for about 2 months and just got off of it because I wasn't losing anymore but that's due to no exercise.
margarita124 - If you can go through p1 no problem, I would say try it! :) The only thing you have to lose is more fat hehe! I really need to write down some goals I want for myself and stop stressing over the small stuff. I feel like my head is spinning out of control and I don't know where to turn to. I saw my Fat Smash Book on my dresser yesterday and I thought it might've been a sign that I should give it another shot. It's the ONLY diet I've been able to stick to for 2 months. I had lost 10lbs without exercise and was keeping it off. I'll let you guys know on what I decide to do. |
You'll find your groove again Sophie.
As for me I'm down to 171 which is a 7 pound weight loss. I need some lunch suggestions because I am getting bored with my salad, which consists of lettuce, tomato, cucumber, chick peas and banana peppers. I am technically on phase two, but I plan to incorporate more phase 1 days. Any suggestions? |
Starting Tomorrow!
Ladies...I have been reading your posts in order to try to get my mojo going!! Thank you! I have never tried "the Smash" which is surprising because I have tried everything else on the planet!! I am hoping that by using a support sytem this time I will have better luck....:carrot:
|
Lori- good luck on your journey. Coming to this website and forum has helped me tremendously on my weight loss journey. There are a good group of ladies on here.
|
down two lbs- over 2 weeks- I will take it-given the state of our diet these few weeks, food shopping today-always makes me feel better being in control of the week's meals. Have a good week all

Unstoppable - CONGRATS ON THE WEIGHT LOSS!!! I suggest making a vegetable soup, maybe add in some brown rice to it. It can be frozen in containers and you can make a big batch to last you a while. I don't know if you tried it already but I know the Vegetable Chilli was my FAVE! It kept me full and was delicious.
LoriTC - Welcome! :) Fat Smash is a very good diet IMO. Following as closely to the book is the key. If you can get pass those 9 days on induction, you'll be fine. Keep us updated! margarita124 - CONGRATS ON THE WEIGHT LOSS!!! You girls are doing great! Continue the good work :) I decided on a different path. Tomorrow, I'm starting the 17 Day Diet. I'm really positive that this diet will work for me. I'll continue to look through this post and comment once in a while to encourage/help you guys when I can. I learned a lot from this diet but now it's time to move along to something else. Hehe! |
Unstop and Sophie....Thank you Ladies!! Look forward to supporting one another!
I started Day 1 today.. Weighed this am ...Did anyone hear me scream??!! lol Did the required exercise plus 20 mins of boxing. I also have a Bodymedia gadget. Lost 15 lbs in a month last March but well u know how that goes.. goes right back on! Right now at a 2000 cal deficit for the day...if can keep that up everyday! My hubby started today too and we all know what is going to happen..the lbs will fly off of him. It's a sad state of affairs when you weigh more than hubs! Going to finish my cup of tea and do some more reading to prepare for tomorrow... Sorry for the rambling.....:dizzy:..Hope everyone is off to a good week! |
What happened to everybody? I know the holidays were here and we probably we're all busy, but I'm looking forward to getting back on track and hearing from you ladies. Hope all is well

I'm here. Hi there, Unstoppable! :carrot:
New to FatSmash and eager to give it a go. I've committed to one of the 10 pounds by Christmas challenges and figure this would be a great kickstart to get back on (any) plan - to replace my unbridled overeating :o A coworker expressed a desire to do the 9-day detox before the winter holidays. She had success with the plan and it sounded doable. So, I'm going in ;) Thanks for being here. Encouragement rules!!! ps: Is quinoa allowed as a permitted "grain" during detox phase? I understand it's really a "fruit" but a somewhat starchy sort. There I go! Didn't even begin Phase I and already I'm changing things up. Will try to behave :^: |
ReadyThat is exactly what I did. I did the 9 day detox, I believe I started at 177 and ended at 171. Over the holidays, I didn't do too well and went back up to 175. I restarted the 9 day detox and now I am 173 and this is only my 3rd day. I love this plan. It is totally doable. Good luck and hope to see you around.
|
I am not sure about quinoa. Let me do some research. Haha
|
I'm here-Unstoppable- Holiday was BUSY and I didn't turn on computer much. Also battling the food wars-I want to eat everything:(
Ifind during the holidays every year- I DO NOT want to cook-I'm exhausted from preparing, shopping, wrapping, and my work delivers holiday meals and gifts all month long-I'm struggling with just wanting to grab a pizza at night:( i hope you all are hanging in there!! |
Ugh! I weighed in this morning, and I'm up 2 pounds :( Two possible fails on my part: Coffee (without sugar) in the AM and not exercising enough. Cravings are triggered too - though I haven't caved to them. It may the rice and oatmeal.
believe Fat Smash is a good plan for lots of folks, and it may be too soon to tell (maybe it's the result of detox), but I'm just not feeling the energy on this plan. Will continue to stay away from sugar. That is one change, hard as it was, is definitely helping this tired body. Have a great day everyone, Jean |
What do your meals consist of Ready? Maybe we can help and give you different options so you won't feel trained.
|
Thanks Unstoppable. I think it may be the grains. For years, I've realized a sensitivity to even whole grains. Two years ago, my doctor suggested having them "once in a while," which was further clarified to one or two moderate servings per week.
On Fat Smash, my meals were centered around fresh fruits (mostly apples, bananas), Brown rice with steamed vegetables, brown rice and beans, beans on salad greens with shredded carrots, onion. One day, I added plain yogurt. Most everything was organic and prepared and/or eaten fresh. Water: I've been drinking more than half my bodyweight in ounces. My co-worker is still Fat Smashing and DOWN 2 pounds! She has much more energy and looks happier. She did fess up that she's been having one, sugar-free coffee every day;) Though she suggested this plan, she was the one who put up most of the fuss - ha ha ha And here, she's doing great, even considering doing a second cycle after these 9 days are up! I'm going to see how I do with the low carb for the next few days. I'll keep you posted. ;) Okay, it's not all about ME . . how are YOU doing?:listen:  Jean |
I'm doing great. Kind of on plan for the most part, but not really. However, I am still dropping weight. For me it's meat. No one has ever told me to stare clear, but I notice that the weight doesn't budge when I eat too many meals with meat. Hope everything works out for you. Just be patient and consistency will pay off. Sometimes it takes out body a while to get adjusted.
|
HI girls! I hope you are all doing well-haven't seen a ton of activity but I'm guessing many are busy but still reading the forum posts? I am-nice to see continued support and successes. Cravings are back-it's annoying-I don't eat as much food but I'm craving crap. I can finally say I feel like I have met a milestone....my pants feel loose-I weighed in today (I don't do scale more than 2x/month-stresses me) and I am over the 15lb mark. I'm excited about this-It's not warp speed but I hope I can keep slowly losing. I hope all are doing well and hanging in there!!
|
Hello Margarita
I am still around. Congrats on hitting that 15 pound mark and passing it. I am not quite following the diet anymore to a tee, but I do incorporate mostly phase 1 days into my diet. So far I am having great success. |
Anyone want to start this up again with me?
|
