What diet should i think about trying that also includes low carb? i have to have a cheap costing diet or i cannot afford to do it, I am not working right now, and I need simple or my mind cannot process it. im extremelyforgetful becuase of a car accident almost a year ago. this car rollover got me thinking that I need to change everything in my life, but I have no support in my home really, I smoke, eat too much, sit on my butt most of the time, clean house, dont like driving and my knees hurt too much to do a lot of walking so if i can get my eating in order and get some energy I will work on getting an excerise plan going. Simple is the best for me. Does anyone have any ideas?
well my biggest concern is the cost. some diets are expensive because of the type of foods you have to buy. I suppose I can try and after a few months if it does not work for me to switch to something else.

Calorie counting is the cheapest lifestyle change (not diet!) of all. Aside from groceries, all you need to buy is a pen and paper to record what is on the food labels.
I know that calorie counting is a lifestyle, and if i included it with low carb meals, that should help me curb my eating habits right? as long as I drop the fast foods, sugars and junk foods. I dont think I can stop cold turkey with my sodas....this might have to be included in my plan....haha.....

That's something you'll have to discover on your own. Some people do great on low carb, others don't. I personally do not do well on low carb. I prefer a more balanced way to calorie count - 40% protein, 30% carbs, 30% fats.
If you have an issue with soda, low carb will be very difficult and possibly not maintainable for you. Soda is basically pure sugar, so one soda (average can of coke) is 36 grams of sugar/36 grams of carbs. If you drink two sodas per day, you've got nearly 80 grams of carbs - with little room left over for actual proper carbs like grains or vegetables.
I totally understand, thats why I need support, I don't know what to do. I have been overweight since I was five or six. I hated it, still do, but I have no clue where to start. I want friends, real friends. but I know I need to change.
A great place to start is reading all the stickies in the Weight Loss support forum, the Calorie Counting forum, and the Carb Counting forums. That will clear up a lot of your questions, and then I am sure people will be happy to help clarify some things.
You could also go to a calorie-counting website like www.thedailyplate.com , enter your information and then play around with it. It will give you a calorie "limit" to lose weight assuming no exercise. You can then enter foods to see what you could eat in what quantities to stay in that limit.
The good news about just starting is that when you are very heavy, you can eat quite a bit and still lose weight. So in the beginning, it's quite possible you could still have a soda a day. When you've lost a good amount of weight, you may have to reassess, but by then you will have had success to motivate you.
this is all great advise and Ill go surfing hte net when i get a chnce, I don't know my exact weight anymore so that is the first thing that I must do. then ill go from there. I am so pathetic it isn't funny. Wow after reading everyone's repies I really dont know anything about this stuff....gah!
