From Diet Facts:
Black-Eyed Pea suggests:
For people on a Low-Fat Diet, try the following:
Baked White Fish (without Sauce)
Green Beans
Steamed Broccoli
Sugar Snap Peas
Dinner Salad (no Cheese, no Croutons)
Fat Free Ranch Dressing
Oil And Vingar Dressing
Grilled Chicken Breast (without Rice)
Corn on the Cob Steamed (Not Fried)
Plain Baked Potato with Salsa
Grilled Salmon (without Rice) Cooked on the Charbroiler -- Not the Flatgrill
Also:
Most of BEP’s vegetables are cooked with butter - even the rice! If you delete the rice and cheese from most things you will lose most of the fat in the item. If you asked that any grilled fish be cooked on the charbroiler not the flatgrill , you will lose the fat also because everything on the flatgrill is cooked in butter. BEP mixes the butter with buttermilk to give it the smooth texture; in the process it makes the margarine very fattening and that is where most of the fat and calories come from!
The question is if I delete the rice and order double veggies, how much would I subtract for rice calories/carbs? Who knew about charbroiler & flatgrill.
Thanks,
Karen
