You might try the calorie counter group. Lots of good advice there. Counting calories allows you to cook your own food, make food that you like and can live with eating, and make adjustments as needed. The meal delivery plans seem to work really well, but for me, they would end up sending foods I don't like. Lots of plans out there, maybe just look around all the different groups and ask specific questions. The bottom line is always eat less calories than you burn. Welcome!

I totally agree with angelskeep...counting calories is definately the least expensive way to do it!

Losing weight is 100% carloies in vs. calories out. Track your food intake for a couple of days and see what you're actually eating (this can be a bit of a shock). There are a bunch of different websites that you can use to track. I use the dailyplate on Livestrong.com.

You might consider adding a 30-60 minute walk to your daily routine to burn more calories. Remember there are 3500 caloies in a pound so in order to lose 1lbs a week you have to reduce your caloric intake by at least 500 calories a day. I'm pretty sure that there are all kinds of links to websites that will tell you approximately how many calories you need for weight loss based on your weight/height/age/activity level.

Good Luck and I look forward to seeing your progress!

Plus drink lots of water and add fiber!! Check your labels on bread, cereal, make sure you see "whole grain" not whole wheat. Stay away from the white breads and white pastas - add fruit & veg. Get out and walk or do some sort of activity 3-4 times a week. You will be svelt by September!

Counting calories and fat is a great way and it also teaches you to eat better and be more aware of what you are eating.
