Default No idea where to start?

I just found this website today while do more research on losing weight/fitness/calorie counting, etc. I don't have a whole lot of weight to lose but I need to lose a good 30lbs and I have NO clue where to start.
I don't eat fast food.
All I drink is water (and two cups of coffee each morning)
I eat relativly well (but cheat a lot on sweats, cakes, candies, etc)
I work out on the elliptical 40 minutes each deay
Do kettlebells at least 3 times a week

And I have no lost a single pound since starting all of this back on January 8th. I am getting sooooo frustrated I don't know what else to do. Do I need to be doing more? Do I need to be doing one of the "quick weight loss" programs to jump start? A cleanse? A detox? Anything???

I'm seriously so frustrated I don't want to give up, but I NEED to see something change soon or I know I will.

what is your plan that you are doing, exactly? just "eating relatively well?"
You may eat as "well" as you like, but if you are consuming more calories than your body is burning, than yo wont lose any weight.......Maybe you dont realize how many calories you are really eating, i dont know...

How old are you? That's another factor you have to consider when counting calories. Also, what is "cheat a lot" and are you allowing the right amount of calories for "cheat a lot"? Sometimes people tend to under estimate sweets if they don't have set servings.

32.
i was always pretty thin, then i quit smoking, had a baby, and turned 30... my body went haywire! and no matter what i seem to do i can't lose the weight.
when i say i cheat a lot... i will eat a brownie or some sort of dessert that isn't exactly on my menu for that day. (i bake and do party planning on the side so desserts are always around)
i have at least bad sweets a day... at least. today it was half a fruit and nut chocolate bar. for no reason other than it was here.

Sounds like at 1300 - 1500 you aren't creating enough of a deficit and that you might be taking in more calories than you know. When you bake, so you nibble without thinking about it? I know I do. It's hard for me to cook without tasting what I'm cooking. Sometimes I forget those calories when I'm calculating my daily calories.

Have you tried doing a week of strict 1200 calories a day with no sweets? See if that causes movement in the scale.

Do you keep a food log? Do you need to cycle calories? Eat more for a bit and then bring it back down? (zig zag)

Have you been doing the same workouts that are no longer challenging? Maybe you need new ones?

A.

I think you may need to change your mind set if you really want to lose. It sounds almost like you don't want to give anything up in order to lose. Maybe think how great you would feel going a week without sweets. You'd have more energy and you could be so proud of yourself for giving them up or at least cutting way back. It sounds like you are saying you can't go a day without sweets. Is that how you feel?

Are you writing down all the food you consume? Even missing a few items in the day can add up. If you do then your calories might be too low since you exercise regularly. Try to experiment at 1600 calories for a week. It's worth a try.

are you counting the sweets in your total calories or are those in addition to the 1300-1500 calories?
