Goddess-SAD! about gaining it back and more!! That sucks! But welcome back to it and good luck! I started this about 23 days ago, did really good for almost a week :) since then, life has gotten in the way, but I try to choose clean foods most of the time. I haven't weighed or measured since starting, but my cloths are a little looser I think. Hey everyone, how are you doing since starting this?? Updates please! :)

I started eating clean on Tuesday and as of this morning have lost 3 lbs. I bought the Eat Clean diet Recharged and I love it. Is is so informative but easy to read. I am not follwoing one of the plans, I am following the key principles of eating clean. I also have been purchasing Oxygen Magazine. Tosca Reno's husband is the editor and she has a column. There are also excellent recipes in there. For those of you who haven't picked it up, it is a magazine that focus's on weight training, and although I am not into body building I am trying to tone my body along with losing weight. It has good articles on how to use all that equipment that I would normally just look at int he gym and think "what kind of torture is that for"

Summer ~ I picked up Oxygen for the first time and was sorely disappointed the entire magazine was like a advertisement....... So for the price I paid and only maybe 3 pages enlightened me I will skip on that one...... I just sent my check off for Clean eating Magazine :)
This weekend has been ruff After a 5 lbs lost on Friday we had a BBQ to go to. I thought I had packed my cooler right but after a few Bud select 55 Beers and some tostedo's chips yup I had cheated.I didn't let it hold me back I got right back on track :) On the Forums at Toscareno.com A member there had a spread sheet that color coded your food..... If any one is interested I will post them here. They showed me what i was eating to much of (carbs) and not enough of ( protein) Very neat stuff :) Michelle |
I only have a minute to post..... but I am interested in you posting the "colors".

Ok this is from a VERY Knowledgeable woman over on toscareno.com
Here is her explaining the color coding A quick way to decide what color something should be is to check the grams of carbs, fats and protein. Which ever it is highest in....that is what color it is. Lean meats, fish and poultry, egg whites, tofu should be your choices for proteins. Choose one first then decide what you will have with it. Dairy and fruit is simple carb (purple) because most of the carbs come from a sugar (lactose and fructose). Some dairy can be considered a protein. (Ex. ..cottage cheese, lowfat cheese, greek yogurt)....because they are higher in protein than the other 2 macro-nutrient. Starchy carbs are root veggies, grains, beans. These may be higher in protein than other carbs (ex...quinoa, beans) but are not scored as a protein because they are mostly carbs. They make GREAT "red" choices...so keep them in your diet as your 2x a day choice. Fats are a must in the daily diet. I suggest getting it from fatty fish and flaxseed, as well as whole unsalted nuts or unsalted nut butters. New to this group is coconut oil, which I believe is a good choice too. Nuts do have more protein than say other fats however it is much higher in fat than the other macros....so it is charted as a fat. Don't be afraid to eat fat....but your portions should really be controlled as they are high in calorie. Full fat cheeses are considered a fat as well. Now....with all that said......everyone is different and needs to find their "sweet spot" for weight loss. Some find if they limit purples, the weight comes off faster. Others find eatin starchy carbs (reds) at only M1, 2 or 3 does the trick. Some may eat the general guidelines (5 protein a day, 5 fibrous a day, 2 starchy, 2 simple, 2 fats a day in my opinion...if you are going for weight loss....you should strive for 5 meals not six per day. ) and then for a day or two.....omit purples and red altogether....then back to the regular guidelines. This would be known as "carb cycling" and has brought great success to many. If you have alot to lose.....those tricks usually aren't needed and following the general guidelines promotes a steady and safe weight loss. However, for those trying to shake the last 10lbs....need the to pull out all the stops....like carb cycling and perhaps interval training to their workouts. http://file.walagata.com/w/weaver/Co...s_Journal3.pdf http://file.walagata.com/w/weaver/Color-Coded_Foods.pdf |
707, I do find the adveritising Oxygen a little too much too, especially for all those protien drinks, but I do like the recipes and exercises. I am going to Barnes and Noble later to check out the Clean Eating magazine, and maybe pick up the cookbook. I couldn't find it at Walgreens or Stop and Shop.
Thanks for posting the color coding! |
