I was doing mostly WW and splurging too much on the weekends. I lost 95 pounds and thought I was eating relatively good..... but this clean eating has made me see that even though I was losing weight and I "thought" I was doing good, there was room for improvement. I had more processed foods in my diet than I realized.

I did not start out on cooler one plan, I went to cooler 2 which is for long term WL or maintenance. I don't know that I will be this strict forever (I am not loving the black coffee), but I will continue to pack my lunches. Not only is it better for me..... but A LOT cheaper.

The book might not be absolutely necessary, but it's a really good reference that fully explains why she wants you to eat certain things/omit others. I think it really helps to know her reasoning so you can judge whether something is "clean." ladyrider's take on it (that if it wasn't food way back when, then it's not clean), is a fantastic guideline but not necessarily all-inclusive. There are a *few* convenience foods that are clean, like Ryvita crackers, and I never would have thought of them without the book. She also has sample menus in there, which helps me when I plan my menus. It's kind of my safety blanket! I'm still new to eating this way, so it's nice to refer back to the book if I'm unsure.

Let us know how you're doing on it! I'm still surprised by how much I like eating this way and how good I feel. I feel like I'm doing something good for my body every time I eat. I know that sounds corny, but it's true.

I am starting this tommorow. I got the book skimmed through it and ready to start. I've did south beach a few years ago and did relatively well but even some things on there are too processed for me and my doctor told me about this plan. I need to lose around 90lbs.

Welcome, mellieRN! Hope you like eating clean. It's been a huge change for me, but it's been fantastic! I've been doing it for a few weeks and feel like I have a good handle on things, so if you have any questions, fire away! Check back in and let us know how it's going for you :)

I wish this thread got a little more action, maybe we can rectify that ;)

I am re starting today. I have been off for a couple weeks. I am ready go to go. After a motorcycle trip (no clean eating) my body is feeling it..... I am ready to feel better again instead of like I am a car running on sludge!

I just started this way of eating today :) So far so good, I am following the Cooler 1 plan for 2 weeks to see how it goes. This stage of the plan is a little tricky cause I too don't like dry salads, also don't like eggs or chicken lol! But, I am telling myself that it isn't gonna kill me to do this for 2 weeks, then it gets more lenient with adding protien from dairy. Who knows, maybe I will learn to like more stuff?! Very encouraged by the book and looking forward to this way of life! Also new to this forum, love it already!

I started "back" on it this week. It bothers me a little to not have to count calories (well points), it just seems odd to not have to.... but I am doing it. I did feel really good when I was on it before.

Let me know if you have any good ideas! I am a "limited" cook (lol) so I need all the help I can get.

I do think that it helps that it is grilling season.

Hey Tammy! I am not much of a cook either, don't like oatmeal or eggs, lol! But I do the oatmeal with vanilla, flax and cinamon for breakfast, fruit and nuts or lean meat for snacks, and lean meat with salad or steamed veggies for luch and dinner. I keep it really simple cause I am lazy! lol! Good luck and share any easy meal ideas you have! This is day two of strict cooler 1 plan, so far so good! Lots of water tho, makes me have to pee every half hour! :)

okay..... I know you should not have drinks like Crystal Light..... but I "made" the best salad dressing.

I wanted some raspberry vinegrette dressing but it has sugar out the wazoo... so I was going down the drink aisle and I thought of this. It is pretty good. I cannot give you measurements b/c I just threw it together. I do have to warn you it does stain like the drink does....

I used one (quart size) raspberry chrystal light, olive oil, and white vinegar. It was awesome! Just an idea if you want to vary a little when you get off cooler one.

Tammy

**Okay, I had this on my salad.... it dyed my chicken pink. So, I think I am going to make it more clean eating friendly by putting real raspberries in a blender and using the CL only as a "sweetener". I will report how it is. There is something weird about eating hot pink chicken. Lol. *** Btw, the taste was not bad.

LOVE THIS THREAD!

Hi everyone! I read through the eat clean diet recharged book and am starting today! When I first started my weight loss journey last August, I had borrowed the book from a friend and skimmed through it. It sounded way to hardcore for me at the time, so I just adopted a few principles from it and sorta did my own thing. It worked, I've lost 101 pounds to date, but I am now ready for the challenge! I am starting P90x today as well!

I had an amazing breakfast of oatmeal with flaxseed, wheatgerm some vanilla, cinnamon, and 1/2 cup all natural applesauce and eggwhites scrambled with some feta. DELICIOUS!

I am ready to see my body's full potential and lose these last 20-30 pounds. I'm also very close to weighing less than my husband. In the 5 years we've been together, this has never been true so when it happens I'm going to scream it from the roof tops! lol!

I've also been training for a half marathon. It is on June 19th and I'm really excited and nervous!

EveLHaelf 06-01-2010 07:38 AM

Didn't sleep very well last night but I'm still feeling pretty good. I've got my food packed for work and ready to go! After work I'm running 5 miles.

ladyrider72472 06-01-2010 04:41 PM

I think the sleeping better will come in a few days.

I hope the first day was not too bad for you.

Yay for weighing less than your husband.

Are you doing cooler 1 or 2?

I am hoping to start back with my running next monday. I am taking it easy b/c of a back injury.

keep me posted!

bonbonj24 06-07-2010 06:04 PM

Way to go on losing so much weight and having awesome goals! Keep up the good work! I ran my first half marathon last summer and doing it again this July. Good luck and keep us posted!
