LOSERS for CHRIST
Hi ~ I have been struggling with my weight and 'trying' to stay on a program to lose about 50 pounds.....unsuccessful I might add. So now, I am looking to the only other means and probably the means in which I should have started and that is CHRIST. He can help me and you to get healthy and fit, get the extra weight off and stay that way........
so no matter if you are using the WW points like I am trying, First Place, The Weigh Down Diet, Richard Simmons, BFL, or any other plan.....if you want Christ to lead the way, come talk, come chat, come join in.........I would love to hear all your success stories, your pitfalls and just get together as one to glorify our Lord who will get us where we need to be. Zoe ~ Soaking up the "SON" in Texas |
Hi Zoe - I am new here and loved finding your post. I am a Christian who is struggling too and would love to join in. I'm married, have 2 children and need to lose the same, about 50 pounds.
I hope this group can get going and we can support each other in this. Saved4ever |
Christ can make all the difference when you're trying to lose!
we think we're giving it over to him...and then still trying to do it on our own. every "diet" i ever tried, failed! now my "way of eating" is what God had planned for us all along. His fruits, His vegetables, His meat, fish and fowl that He put on this earth for us to eat! when i cut out the man-made stuff...things made with flour, like breads, pastas, cakes, cookies, etc. and ate the things HE provided for us. my weight just started to fall! i know i can't do it on my own...and i have days i "allow" myself to eat what i want....and it's working! i'm not on a "diet". when you GO ON a diet, you eventually have to GO OFF it again and then your weight will come back. this is a 'way of eating' that you will do for the rest of your life. i've lost over 30 pounds now since january and i still eat some ice cream (at least 4 days a week), i still have chocolate (at least 4 days a week)....i may have 1 or 2 servings a WEEK of bread and pasta...but that's a far cry from the way i WAS eating! and i don't crave that junk anymore! i feel like i have control of chocolate now...it doesn't control me! it's a great way of eating, it's a great life! hope you find what works for you! |
Great idea!
I am so glad that I saw your post! I am following a low-carb eating plan that was prescribed by the nutritionist at my doctor's office. But my mom has been a First Place leader at our church for forever so I am very familiar with that plan also! I have lost 33 pounds since January 26th and I am kinda stuck in a plateau right now, but I know things will start moving again soon.
I have a few medical conditions that make my weight loss a bit of a challenge (hypothyroidism, insulin-resistance, and PCOS). Anybody else dealing with these? I would love to be a part of this group of sisters in Christ. I hope you are all doing well and having great success with whatever plan you are on. I will be praying for you and hope you will pray for me! We can use all the encouragement we can get, right?!?! In His love, AMY:angel: |
Hi Saved4ever, loridon and Amy
Well, I was please to see a few 'faces' here. I just KNOW that there are Christians out there and on this board. I post under another thread for Christians and love it there. I thought that by starting a new one, another 'title' so to speak, I might find some more Christians to chat with, lean on, fellowship and support. I am getting my brain in gear for a good plan.....consisting of 1 long term goal (losing 50 pounds by the end of the year) and a few short term goals.....(4th of July, Labor Day, etc) I think I am just about ready to make my way and have been praying for the right choice to make in this. The Lord has blessed me so much with so many things that why have I not asked Him to help me with this problem long before now?? Crazy, huh? :) Anyway, nice to meet all of you and let's try to keep this going. Invite your Christian friends. Later..... In Christ, Zoe ~ Soaking up the "SON" in Texas |
hey amy!
i too hit a plateau after about 30 pounds...but i just kept eating the same way...since i plan on eating this way for life anyway. i think after a couple weeks, when my body saw i wasn't giving up and going back to the old way of eating, it started releasing weight again...very slowly, but i am losing again. right now i'm so happy with the way i'm eating, i don't care if i only lose a pound or 2 a month...as long as i'm going in the right direction...i'll get there eventually. i've got so many cheats now that i've probably slowed my weight loss way down...but i'm happy. :) good luck to you all! check my homepage link and the forum off of that everyone! we have a lot of christian ladies eating this way now! :) |
Hello Friends
How did your week go? Mine was not as great as I would have liked, getting a slow start but I'm okay now. I think this was just a matter of me adjusting to a new way of eating. I just want to eat more healthy rather than think "DIET" ~ does that make any sense? loridon ~ I checked out your site and the message board it directed me to. It looks interesting, once I learn how to post a message. DUH! I am very interested in the "God's Diet" and will be hunting down the book tomorrow. thanks!! Hi Amy and Saved4you have a blessed weekend. Zoe <>< |
Happy Monday!
Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a good weekend. I am praising the Lord this morning because I think my plateau is finally over! The scale has finally started moving again. I started at 227 on January 27, 2002 and was stuck at 194 for FOREVER!! But, this morning when I weighed it was 192! PTL!! Now I have officially reached the 35 pound mark. Of course, I celebrated by eating 3 big macadamia nut cookies at my sister's house last night, but we won't go into that...:o
Loridon, I also checked out your website. It was really great and I will definitely be back. Zoe and saved4ever (love that) I hope you are all off to a good start today. I am in Marietta (right outside of Atlanta) and it is supposed to be 94 degrees today - is that crazy? I love being a southerner, but the summers here are brutal! And it's only just beginning!! Where do you all live? I'll check with y'all later! Amy:wave: |
Good Evening :D
Well, Wednesday is over so the week is half gone. My husband leaves in the morning for a business trip and will be home on Friday late afternoon.......not too bad, a short trip this time. I've been doing great with my eating. Considering this is only my 3rd day, I guess it's not a big deal but for me, it IS a big deal. I feel good and usually, once I get a few days under my belt, it's pretty easy to stay on track Amy ~ praise God for you finally getting off that plateau. Wow, 35 pounds is wonderful. I know I'll be getting there too. And don't worry too much about those cookies.....we sometimes need a little boost. :) Hi Lori and Saved4Ever ~ hope you're both well. Have a wonderfully blessed Wednesday evening. Zoe ~ Soaking up the "SON" in Texas <>< |
Hello again ~ sorry that I've been gone but I don't get a chance to get on the computer more than about once a week. I just don't have the time plus with 2 small babies, it's doubly difficult. I see that you're all doing well with your eating and I'll bet the pounds are melting off.
I have been doing great too. Jesus has really been at my side the last 2 weeks and I've been able to shed 12 pounds. I know that this is alot because of it being the beginning but I'm grateful for any amount. 12 down and 38 to go. Well, time for me to feed everyone here. The peace of God with you all. Saved4Ever |
Good morning!
Good morning everyone! It's so nice to come to work and read everyone's posts. I am glad you are all doing well.
Saved4ever - how old are your kids? I have a 5 year old son and a 2 year old daughter. Zoe - Congratulations on 3 good days! I think that is great. We have to take one day at a time and do the best we can. Sometimes it is just too hard for me to think about tomorrow so I try to just say "I'll get through today". Although sometimes I can only say "I'll get through this meal"!! Keep it up. You are in my prayers!! Loridon - if you check in I hope you are doing great!! Be sure to post and say hi! Just wondering - Would anyone like to have a weigh-in day? Sometimes I need that accountability to keep me on target! Hope everyone has a great day! <>< Amy |
hi gals!
hope all is well! you're all doing great! congrats on the 12 pounds saved4ever! that's awesome! amydoodle i'm glad you broke that plateau! persistance pays off! did you find the book yet zoe? what do you think? i only lost 3 pounds in may...but i'm hoping for at least 3 to 5 more for the month of june. it may be slow, but i cheat a lot and really love my way of eating! so as long as it is still going down, i'll be happy! :) you all have a great weekend! lori |
Hello friends
How are you all doing tonight? I'm great! Unfortunately though, my DH is on a business trip and I'm alone. :( So I made some Chicken Teriyaki (Lean Cuisine stir fry) and have been watching a movie. Today is day #4 of being 'good' and not eating everything in sight. :) Lori ~ I am reading the book, just started. I'm trying to keep an open mind but do give up my carbs....YIKES!! I'm so happy for you losing those 3 pounds....slow but steady, that's a good way to do it. Amy ~ I am all for a weigh in day. Should we take a poll to see who weighs when? I weigh on Mondays so of course, that would be perfect for me. :p So, any other weigh days out there? Saved4Ever ~ 12 pounds!! Great job for only 2 weeks. Well, time to go back to my movie. Have a great evening. In Christ, Me <>< |
May I join you???
This looks like a good thread, and I certainly approve of working at anything through Christ.
I lost over 45 lbs. in the year 2000 with my healthy eating, giving all glory to God. Since that time I have been maintaining, with difficulty. I would imagine that I am the senior citizen of this Christian bunch as I am 75, soon to turn 76. Lose theweight while you are young, that is my advice. It gets tougher as we get older. But it is still worth the effort. Have a blessed weekend. |
welcome jojojo!
and congrats on that 45 pound loss! good job!! can ya tell us how ya did it? that shows hard work and persistance! good to have you here! lori |
TGIF!
I am so haapy it is Friday! This has been a busy week and I am ready for some down time...although the weekends seem to be just as busy as the weeks. I guess that's the way it is when you have little ones!
Yesterday I had a business lunch out. I was really good and had a chicken caesar salad with no croutons, BUT the salad came with this really yummy warm croissant and I couldn't resist! THEN at dinner time I went out to eat with one of my bestest girlfriends and I ate another piece of bread!! :o SO - I am back on the wagon today. My philosophy is if you do what you're supposed to do 90% of the time then it is okay if you "cheat" 10% of the time. JoJoJo2 - welcome!!! I am glad you joined us. I would love to hear how you lost all that weight! Congratulations! Saved4ever - I hope you are doing well. I know how it is with little ones - NO TIME!! If I didn't have my computer at work I wouldn't ever be able to post because I don't even have time to turn the computer on at home. Zoe and Loridon - what book are you guys talking about? I am curious! And Zoe, was the movie any good? Well, time to go to work. I hope everyone has a great day. God is so good - Just remember - so many things about our lives are uncertain. This one thing, however, is sure: no matter where, when, or how long, God will be there and will be with us! |
Hello and Good Evening y'all ~
Ok, another day under my belt, day #5 today and still not hopping on the scale. Oh Lord, thank you and I can't wait until Monday morning to see how I've done. Greg is home from his business trip and got home before me today. He said that he got on the scale. Ugh! How could he!! :smug: So this afternoon, around 4pm, he had lost 12.5 pounds!! Now, remember, first week, male and bigger than me......oh how I will be so thankful for half that. :) Yoyoyo, jojojo, welcome to our group!! :D So glad to have you with us. Praise God on losing 45+ pounds! How wonderful for you. You may be the senior citizen here but I might be next.......not close to 75 but maybe the elder of the rest of them. I just turned 47 2 weeks ago and I am trying to get this 50 pounds off in 2002. Again, welcome to the group. Amy ~ the movie was ok, not great.....so much so that I can't even remember the name of it. The book is called God's Diet and it's about eating only God-made carbs and no man-made carbs. The jury is still out if it's the one for me. :) Lori, Saved4ever, hope you're both well tonight. Have a great Friday evening, In Christ, Zoe <>< |
happy saturday all! :)
God's diet is my diet (when i want to follow it :)) that's why i like my "meals off" or "days off" if i need them....which is what today is turning out to be..:( had pizza and it was yummy! having hamburger for supper...but i will try it topped with lettuce tomato and cheese, mayo and NO BUN!! today i've had my bread for the week...now i'll be good amydoodle i like your philosophy! only mine is good 80% of the time....:) zoe, you can be next after jojojo....but i'm not far behind you...i'll be 47 in a couple months :^: ...and i need to get a little more serious about my eating to get this next 40 pounds off! but with supportive friends and the Lord's help, it can be done! :) have a great weekend everyone! |
Good Sunday evening!
Ok, it's Sunday evening and I have been 100% this week and tomorrow is weigh day. I'm anxious but nervous. You know how when you do SO good and expect BIG results. that's when you don't get them. So I'm awaiting the morning to weigh. What I also did when I started was to take before pictures, front and side, it black bikini panties (ugh! what a sight!!) and black bra. I also took a piece of string and measured my hips with it and cut it off. This way, as I shrink away, I can see how big I once was. :D I love the Lord and have decided to let Him help me with this struggle that I've been having and trying to do myself all these years. I finally realized that He can help me with my weight just like He does with all the other areas of my life. I hope you're all doing well. I will post tomorrow with my LOSS. Keep your fingers crossed.....:) Zoe <>< |
Monday Morning!
It's Monday Morning and I want to go back to bed! My 2 year old kept me up practically all night last night. Both my kids are usually good sleepers but for some reason she was up and down all night. SO - I am definitely dragging this morning.
WEIGH-IN Day - I was 191.5 this morning. Up a half a pound. Do you think it had anything to do with the ice cream I had on Saturday and the brownie I had last night?:o But at least I didn't gain any more. And when I look at my grand total lost it still looks pretty good to me. Thank you Lord that your mercies are new every morning!! :D Well I can't weight to see how everyone else did. Wonder how much we have lost all together?!? Zoe - I loved your idea about the string. I am going to do that. Loridon - What kind of pizza did you have? Save4ever and JoJoJo2 I hope you had a great weekend and stop in and say hello! Have a great day ladies and remember how you look in our Lord's eyes - beautiful! |
Hello everyone.....It's Monday night.....I always feel like I've accomplished something when 5pm on Monday rolls around. :dizzy:
Well, today was weigh day......can I say I was dissappoiunted? Well, when I tell you I lost 5 pounds, you'll say WHY ARE YOU DISAPPOINTED????????????? I suppose I should be happy. It's just that I'm so used to losing 7 or 8 pounds my first week OP and I was really SO on track, SO good this week. So this morning, I had lost 5 pounds and tonight when I got home (and jumped on the scale AGAIN), I lost 6....so 5 or 6....hey, I know, I should be ashamed of myself for not accepting that with a smile on my face. Ok.....:o :o I'm sorry....Opps....woo hoo, 5 pounds!!! :D :D Closer to my first mini goal or 10 pounds by July 4th. Amy ~ I'm so glad that you're not letting half a pound get to you. What IS your grand total of loss? Hope you're rested by now....kids take alot outta ya. ~ oh, and the string thing, I can't take credit for it, I got that tip from a WW person but I loved it. Hi to everyone else.....where is everyone?? Amy and I are holding down the fort, keeping the home fires burning....come out, come out wherever you are. :D Nighty night, Zoe <>< |
Good Tuesday morning to everyone!
hope you are all well! congrats zoe on that 5 pound loss! you don't want to lose too fast, or it will just come back again! i'm estatic with a pound a week...but it's more like a pound every 2 weeks now...:dizzy: amy when i eat pizza i always eat Schwan's self-rising pizza's...usually pepperoni or 4-meat. pizza is something i will never give up, so it has to be on one of my "meals off". my eating plan that works for me, allows you "days's off" where you follow the plan for 2 or 3 days and then take a 'day off' and eat whatever you want. i did that when i first started...but now i just try to stick to the plan as much as possible...but if i want something that isn't on it, i go ahead and eat it and don't sweat it. of course i've sacrificed weight loss because i let myself eat ice cream almost every day...and chocolate too...but the scales are still going in the right direction....very slowly  i WILL get there eventually! (but i'm also going to enjoy the trip:lol: ) come on jojojo...spill the beans and tell us how you lost the 45 pounds! we're dying to know! saved4ever, how's it going? grab a minute and let us know! :) hope everyone has a nice day! lori |
Hi everyone!
Good morning everyone!
Okay Zoe... 5 pounds is not anything to be dissapointed about!! So you just stop feeling sad and be proud of your self right now!:D I agree with Loridon - the slower it comes off the better! If it comes off fast it will go back on just as fast. My total weight lost is around 36 pounds. I started at 227 and now I am around 191-192. Of course when I weigh myself first thing in the morning with no clothes on I weigh 190 so I like that number the best. I remember being so excited to be below 200 and now I want to be below 190. I think I am at the point now where I am not really going to lose much more unless I start to excercise. But that's my problem - I HATE to excercise!! Anyone have the same problem? The one thing that does help the most is when I am consistent with drinking water. The nutritionist at my doctor's office told me to cut my weight in half and that's how many ounces of water to drink a day. Now that is motivation to lose weight!!!! Do you think all those trips to the bathroom counts as exercise?;) Well, time to start working. I really love starting my day with all of you! It's like having a cup of coffee with friends (with sweet & low of course!!) P.S. When should we start a new thread - every Monday? I'd be happy to start a new thread each week if everyone wants me to. I could also start one for prayer requests, recipes, etc. What do you think? |
Update on me -
You asked how I lost the 45 lbs.+. I follow the Richard Simmons foodmover program of healthy eating and exercise. It is a good program, but I am sure that any program of healthy eating and exercise will work just fine. We each need to find a program that will work for the individual.
Consistency is the name of the game. Get started on whatever you are doing, and stick with it. If you have a poor day, the Lord provides us each with a new starting point each morning. I saw the doctor yesterday, and all the tests came out OK. That is my weight loss has remained constant for a year and a half, my bp and diabetes are still under control, my 76th birthday is Saturday, and we can all rejoice in the Lord's goodness. Amy, Lori, Zoe, Saved, anyone else??? Stick with it, restart yourselves, sip that water, live your lives, count your blessings, and do what you know needs to be done. |
Happy Friday my friends!! I love Friday nights. To be honest, Saturday is my favorite day of the week. Why? Because I can sleep in (for me, that's 7am), do whatever I want or need to do and when evening comes, I don't have to think about getting up for work the next day. So it's a GREAT day of the week.
I was good again this week. Not perfect today ~ it was a "big 4-0" at work for a good friend so her choice for lunch was Mexican food. I had a taco salad but ate too many chips. I also had a piece of cake but it was SMALL. We had pizza for dinner and even though that isn't too bad in moderation, I feel like I cheated BIG TIME. I suppose I did but I'm not going to get deterred. I snuck a peek at the scale today, 3 days too early and it said that I have lost 9 pounds in less that 2 weeks. I hope I hold that number, come Monday morning after todays down fall so I can post it in my signature. I'm picking myself back up. :D Hope everyone is doing well ~ where are y'all at??? :?: TTYT ~ Zoe <>< |
i'm here! :)
my 16-year-old son is visiting me for 2 weeks. he lives with his dad in Kansas. HE HOGS MY COMPUTER! that's why i haven't been on much! i lost another pound last week. i'm happy! if i lose this week it will be a miracle! i'm not staying very God-made today! Pizza one meal, pierogies the next. :( i do manage to drink 3 quarts of water every day. i got a pedometer today and i'm going to be competing with a couple other ladies on our "Eating God's Way" ezboard for # of steps every day. amydoodle i'm with you! my weight loss has slowed way down and i think it's because i need to do more exercise and i absolutely HATE exercising. i'm hoping the pedometer will encourage me to move a bit more. i hate to break a sweat...and that's not good for much exercise :) well i gotta run. i've been going strong since 5 AM and i just baked some brownies to take to my dad for fathers day tomorrow...now to stay out of them tonite....:dizzy: back in a couple days everyone take care! lori |
Happy Monday!
Hello my friends  ~
Well, it's Monday, weigh day......I have finished week #2 in it's entirety and I am please to announce another 4.5 pounds!! Woo Hoo!!! A grand total of 9.5.....that's 9 1/2......wow, nine a a half pounds!!! I am so excited. Only a half a pound from my first mini goal and I have 2 weeks till the 4th of July. Ok, enough of my dancing around. Can't address everyone this morning, I have to run to work now but I'll be back tonight. Have a wonderful Monday, |
weigh in day
Hey y'all! Well, it's weigh in day and I am just the same as I was last week. No more, no less. Kinda boring, huh?! But I guess I have myself to blame. We had a big get together with family and friends at my parent's house yesterday after church and I went completely crazy!!! I had some potato salad, 2 helpings of shrimp pasta salad, a piece of cheesecake AND a small slice of homemade peach pie! BAD GIRL!!:o But, I throroughly enjoyed it all and I am back OP today. I am trying to eliminate any guilt or shame from my eating because if I let myself I can get really legalistic about food. So - I am just following that 90/10 principle and praising God when I do get to enjoy those things that I don't eat very much.
Speaking of EXERCISE (were we talking about that? :?: ) has anyone ever tried Pilates? I saw a family friend that I hadn't seen in several months and I was commenting on how great she looked. She told me that she had started doing a Pilates program. She doesn't use the big machines, she just does a modified program with a video I think. I thought I might give it a try. She said it's great because it's not grueling like running or aerobics. Oh well, we'll see. If I could just find an exercise I like I think I could get into the habit. Any suggestions? Well, gotta go to work. Everyone have a good day! Amy |
Hello, everyone -
And how are we all doing in our struggles to achieve a more healthy life? I am still maintaining, that is I have not lost any nor gained any in the last year and a half. Which is a sort of success, praise God!!!
I tried a new exercise video this morning which is aimed at older adults. It worked fine, and I can feel it here and there. Exercise is so important, isn't it? Consistency is the name of the game, and every day that I can stick with my program is a good day. Summer is a wonderful time of the year, nice long lazy days. Enjoy, everyone. |
Hello my friends  Just a quick hello and I'm going to relax this evening. I feel so tired this week and don't know why. Exhausted really.......<sigh>
JoJoJo ~ great to hear from you again. Your posts are always so cheering. amy ~ I've never tried pilates. Let me know if you do and how it is. I need something, ANYTHING in the way of exercise. :) Hope everyone is having a great evening. In Christ, Zoe <>< |
hi all!
glad to see you're still here and still at it! so far my loss for the month of june has been 1 pound  my son is leaving tuesday evening, so maybe then i can get serious and lose another pound by the end of the month!:^: i'm gonna try anyway! i've seen several people post that they tried pilates by getting a video from their local library...well my local library doesn't have ANY fitness videos of any sort.... rats! i've gotta get mooovin more! i logged 8,000 steps on my pedometer yesterday...but today i probably won't do half that as i'm only working my 1 job....but there is a lot of housework to catch up on!:dizzy: zoe, have missed you on the other board! stop in and say hello! jojojo you are an inspiration with that new exercise program! you go girl! come on amy! we can do this too! saved4ever, how's it going for you? gotta get my day going! you all have a great weekend! lori down 34 pounds eating God's way since 1/15/02 http://pub96.************/bgodsdiet |
TGIF!
Yay - it's Friday! :D
Okay - I tried the Pilates tape last night for the first time. Here is my reaction - Ouch. I am one out-of-shape girl. But I did enjoy it. If I can stick with it I think it will definitely work my butt! But if you try it let me give you some advice. Get a mat! That floor is hard!! You do most of it lying down, so get something comfortable to lay on. The whole emphasis is on strengthening your "powerhouse" - your middle section. After having 2 c-sections and an amdonimal hernia operation I can definitely use some help in this area! I also liked that it is a 20 minute program. I am going to try to commit to 3 times per week. Maybe I can get to 4 but I don't want to set my goal too high!! Well, that's all the news from here. Have a great weekend everyone! Amy:strong: (the new me doing Pilates) |
Good Saturday Morning!
I am feeling really good, almost finished with 3 weeks of being OP. I must confess 2 things ~ first, I had pizza last night. Ok, so it's not the worst thing I could have had but I feel like maybe I had just a little too much. Anyway, I'm back on track again this morning, had my bran cereal, skim milk and a banana. The 2nd confession is that I snuck a peek at the scale again yesterday morning and I won't jinx anything by saying but I think I just may be smiling again come Monday's weigh in. |
Can I join!!!!!! (Waving hands furiously and smiling a big, dopey grin!!)
HI!!!! I am so happy to find you all! My name is Amanda, I am 27 and jsut had a baby in March. I have been struggling wiht the same fourty pounds since I was 23. I want to lose 50 pounds alltogehter.
I just won Richardh Simmons weight mover off ebay and cannot wait to try it! I plan to stay on it my whole life, as I need help with my eating habits and this is nice and healthy! I am also readinG First Place and want to begin scritpture memorization. I LOVE these little faces!! :dizzy: I won't have my Richard Simmon's until the end of this week, so I am enjoying the last bit of food that I will begin to cut out of my regular food rotation!! I am so happy to find this thread. I am kind of a new Christian - I accepted Christ in 1997. I am so excited to read about you all!! Your posts have been an inspiration so far!!! I am always starting new "diets" and quitting and I NEVER stick to anything, I feel like a failure and a loser, so I am doing it with Christ this time, by my side! I know he loves me, and want to use me!!:strong: |
hi amanda and welcome!
of course you can join! :) glad to have you! congrats on the baby! :o we're all losing in our 'own' way, so just find whatever works for you and then work with it! my thingy i'm having to work the hardest at now is my exercise...i hate anything that makes me sweat...especially when it's hot out. i seem to have my eating plan down pat, and it's working for me slowly but surely. i got a pedometer and am working on trying to beat my steps every day...that at least is some exercise :) i wish you well! hi to everyone! lori down 34 pounds eating God's way since 1/15/02 http://pub96.************/bgodsdiet |
Checking in -
What a nice attitude everyone has in this group. It is a joy to be with you as together we journey to a healthier way of life. We know that Christ is with us, He is our special Friend.
A special "hello" and "welcome" to Amanda. I don't know if I am the only one following the Richard Simmons program on this thread, actually we all follow the technique that works for us. But I follow Richard's program, so if you have any specific questions related to the foodmover, I would be happy to help. In the year 2000 I lost over 45 lbs. with the foodmover and exercise. Since that time I have been maintaining with difficulty. I would like to lose a few more lbs., but who knows? At any rate I am eating healthy and exercising. I just had anotherbirthday, now I am 76. I recommend that anyone lose the weight while they are young, it becomes more difficult as we age. So everyone, keep plugging away. We all know what should be done, but sometimes the 'doing' is more difficult. Have a blessed Sunday. |
Glad to see this group!
I was so glad to see these posts. I still haven't read all the way through, but wanted to reply to Amy.
Amy, I have insulin resistance and hypothyroid, so I can relate to what you're dealing with, except the PCOS. I just had a baby girl in March and dealt with Gestational Diabetes - it taught me how to eat, let me tell you. I didn't gain any weight during the last half of my pregnancy while I was eating like a diabetic. That spoke volumes to me!! But, of course, the minute I was home from the hospital, I wanted my carbs back. SO I allowed myself to fall back into my bad habits  and gained back almost all the weight I "lost" while I was pregnant (almost 20 pounds!). So, here I am. I need to lose about 100 pounds, 115 pounds would be my "ideal weight" for me. I'm starting at the beginning again, but I know I can do it. It's nice to see I'm not alone. |
Hi Everybody,
I'm sorry I didn't have time to read all the posts but by the title of this thread, I knew its where I wanna be. I am trying to incorporate the Weigh Down Diet into my life, I am slowly trying to change. I'm tired of counting and starving myself and the book just makes so much sense I know its what I need to do. I haven't weighed myself but I know I'm around the 230 mark.....uhhhhhh. Talk to you later :) Love, Leens :dizzy: |
Focused on my Savior -
That's what we all need to be doing, staying focused on the Savior. If we can do that, then everything else in our lives, including weight loss, will fall into place.
That is our first priority, staying focused on Him. |
Good Tuesday Evening my fellow losers (I just love that.......)
first let me say a BIG, WARM welcome to our newest members of our little group....Leens, Lisa and Amanda. We're so glad that you could join us here. We are a small but supportive group, all with the same goal....to lose weight and be healthy all by the grace of God. Not thinking we can do it on our own anymore since we've seen that it just doesn't work. Please feel free to jump in anytime.....we want to hear more from you all. :D Leens ~ I tried the Weigh Down Diet and think that the concept is perfect. Right now, I'm doing Weight Watcher's Points system which works good for me. If you stick with us here, we can cheer each other on to a better body and better health. Welcome again! Lisa ~ you're right, you are not alone....you have us and more important, you have CHRIST. He is the only way to conquer any problem, any project, any hurdle. Welcome, we're glad that you're here. What "plan" are you using? Amanda ~ I have the same amount of weight to lose as you do. 40 would be great but 50 would be even better. I've now lost 10 over the last 3 weeks and am on my way. I decided to give myself until a certain time (December) and have a few 'mini' goals inbetween. So my first goal of 10 pounds by the 4th of July has come to pass (sooner too! :) ) and my next is 25 by Labor Day (there's a Labor Day challenge here on 3FC).....the rest by December. So as you can see, I have it all planned. So yes, with Christ and each others encouragement, we CAN do it. Welcome! Hi there JoJoJo, Lori and Amy ~ hope y'all are having a great week so far. In Christ's Love, Zoe <>< |
