I have a question: I was searching the net for diet programs last night and came across a normal-enough looking site that had pretty general average tips on how to lose weight effectively. But then randomly in the middle of the site is this 'lose 10 lbs. in 3 days safely' plan. It's originally from some heart institute in miami and yah it just says to follow the menu EXACTLY and not to substitute anything. It says it works off of a chemical breakdown? and that it's safe? The food looks normal enough - stuff like beets, tuna, peanut butter, toast, black coffee or tea, eggs, etc. and they're all in normal or slightly smaller than normal proportions. The weird thing is there's like vanilla ice cream included and I guess that's just for the dairy? I dunno it sounds kinda flaky to me - but what do ya'll think? Is it really possible?
Sorry to sound pessimistic, but it just can't be true. We all so desperately want it to be that quick, but it can't be. If the scale shows any loss that quickly, it's water weight - if one measured oneself, there would be no inches lost as there would be in 10 pounds of fat loss.
It's gotta come off slowly, with decreased calories into the body and more calories exerted through exercise.
Actually, I know about this diet from my mother. I tried to complete it myself, but it's tougher than it seems. The portions are really small, and I have a big problem with that Anyway, my mother actually completed it a few times and lost about 7 pounds when she did it. I think she said that the diet was for people going into surgery who needed to lose weight significantly fast. However, I think the weight comes back really fast, so if you do it, you have to really watch what you eat. I think you should try it and see if it works for you. There are no bad stimulants or anything, so go for it! May be if it works for you I'll try to complete it again myself. Good luck!
Because there is NO WAY you can lose 10 pounds of fat in 3 days.
What you're losing is mostly water, MUSCLE (which, believe me, you DON'T want to lose) and a very small amount of fat.
If you put your body into starvation mode or ketosis, it will respond by holding onto the fat as much as possible and instead, burn muscle. Of course, when you go off the diet, the weight comes right back on - as water and MORE FAT - not as muscle. Basically what you are doing is depleting your muscle stores (and the more muscle you have, the more fat you will burn) and after the diet, replacing them with fat, which will be even harder to burn off later.
Basically, if something looks too good to be true, it is. And the hard truth of fat loss and maintanance of fat loss is that you have to make significant, PERMANENT changes in your lifestyle. Believe me, I know this from experience! But the good news is - it all depends on your attitude - if you have a healthy, positive attitude, it's MUCH easier to achieve your goals and dreams...

I know EXACTLY which diet you are talking about...I have done it in the past and while I never lost 10 lbs (maybe 6 or 7) in 3 days...I did alternate this 3 day event with a sensible diet by cutting calories, decreasing fat AND exercising! I lost about 30 lbs doing ALL of that and then I became pregnant with my son!!
It's not as easy as it looks, but only three days is tolerable...as long as you don't go nuts eating when the three days are up!
Yah i SHOULD have listened to ya'll before trying it but alas - I didn't check the replies until after the three days. I lost 2 after the second day and yes the portions are SUPER small and i was terribly hungry. I cheated the very very last couple hours of the third day and ate strawberries and an orange. Today was my "eat normal food" day and I totally binged. So i re-weighed myself and yup i'm right back to where I was. Pooey But---but---doing it the sensible way would be the...sensible thing to do but i have ZERO self-control when it comes to food. I binge cos no one stops me and I can't stop myself. Awwww i'm getting depressed....i need help...so tell me more bout this body for life? or maybe i should just "lurk" around and check it out...k i'll go do that but if you wanna tell me more anyway go right ahead thanks for the advice guys, i'll read your replies first next time.
