So after much procrastinating, I bit the bullet and went to the Health Center, wanting to make an appointment. When I explained to the secretary my problem, they took me in right away. I first saw a nurse, who agreed that they were likely lymph nodes, but was somewhat concerned that they were so hard, didn't hurt, and I didn't seem to have any other symptoms. So then she managed to get a doctor to squeeze me in. He looked them over, prodded them for a while, and checked my skull for any wounds.
So, in his opinion, it breaks down like this:
1) They are likely lymph nodes.
2) Since they appeared so quickly, it's likely that whatever the problem is, it is not life-threatening.
3) It is a concern that they are so hard, don't hurt and that I'm not showing any other symptoms of what
should be a throat or sinus infection.
4) This
should be developping into some type of infection in the next week or so, or they should go away.
5) If they become painful or grow larger, I should see him right away.
6) If they don't dissapear or run their course by the Monday after next, I should see him again, in which case we will likely book an ultrasound and perhaps even a biopsy from there.
You were right ladies. Thank you very much for all your info, support and guidance. If anyhthing comes of these lumps I will post further to let you know.
Again, thanks for caring.
