Awwwww... she's so cute!!! What a little sweetie!!
Hey! Good name! - SWEETIE!!!
I read somewhere that when naming a dog, you should give it a 2-syllable name, preferably something that ends with "e" sound. Sweetie, Sally, Buddy, Lucy, Foxy, Chewie, etc. This is because dogs understand their 2-syllable word-names better than one syllable, and more than 2 syllables is a mouthful (such as "Belvedere"!!! LOL!!) Plus, when you're teaching a dog (or puppy) the 5 basic commands, you want the dog to learn the difference between a command (you use commands WITH the dog's name) and you're just talking.
For instance, you want Sweetie to NOT jump on you. You say "Sweetie, OFF." Once she learns that command, she won't freak out if you yell to your honey "I said TURN THE LIGHTS
OFF!" In other words, she'll learn to connect her name with commands.
The 5 basic commands are:
Sit
Stay
Come
Down
Off
Try not to confuse down & off - down means "lay down" and off means "get off".
Please be sure to train your puppy the 5 basic commands. It will help your puppy be a good dog... and I cannot tell you how many dogs are surrendered to a shelter because "he's a bad dog"...
Dogs are very smart - very fast learners. It just takes patience on your end. About 20 minutes a day is all it takes. Once they learn a command, they know it, and it's up to you to enforce it. After all, there are no bad dogs, just bad owners.
And I KNOW you want to be the best puppy mommy in the world! I can tell by how you are holding her!!!
