Coke here too - I think it's because Coke was invented - and was the reigning monarch for so long - in the south, it became the generic term for any soft drink. Sort of like having a Eureka hoover (if you live in the UK), a Cannon xerox machine, a Maytag frigidaire (that one may be southern too), Chapstick, Kleen-ex, Weed-eater...you get the idea

It's Pop here. I drink 2-3 Diet Pepsi's per week.

I call it soda.
I normally drink one Caffeine-Free Diet Coke or Pepsi a day.

Definately Soda. I cannot conceive of it being called anything else. Where I live (in NYC) I think that if you ordered 'pop' people would have no clue as to what you were talking about! :)

I'm from England, so it's deffo "pop". :) I prefer water if I want a cold drink, but I'll occasionally take a diet anything if it's all that's on offer.

Everyone calls it pop.......I like soda so that is what I call it......diet coke

in mississippi where i am from every kind of drink is called "coke" you say i want a coke then the person asked what kind,i see you call it coke too jazzynurse,cool i haven't seen anyone else here but my family that call it coke.you are really close to me if you are in nashville,neat.my family drinks sierra mist,dr.pepper, sometimes mt.dew but all i drink now is water

When I was little it was Pop, but since I've gotten older I have been calling it Soda, I used to love Mountain Dew, but I haven't actually drank soda in a while, I love Seltzer Water now..

'Round these here parts in Virginia, It's called pop, and my favorite is diet Coke!!!

I used to call all soda either coke or pop...but when I got to college my roomies made fun of me so I switched to soda.:) I don't even drink the stuff....I can't stand carbination. I love me some water:)lol

Well being a Tasmanian (devil before everyone else says it!) I call it soft drink!
And I'm evil. I drink it very occasionally, but when I do it's a full sugar coke!

We call all of them Cokes here too. ;)

I love Diet Coke and Diet Dr Pepper but I only drink them when I go out to eat.

I call it both and drink it rarely. When I do it's caffein free diet whatever, or diet Sprite. The reason I call it both...

When I first moved to NH, we visited an Outback down in MA. I ordered a diet pop and got a strange look from the waitress. She explained that it was a soda there and she'd never heard it called pop before. She wasn't sure if I was asking her to hit me or what. LOL After 8 years up north, I waver between the two, favoring the "pop" I grew up with.

Everything is coke here, and then its what kind of coke do you want, coke, pepsi or Dr Pepper! If I drink it, its mostly diet coke, but I rarely have any these days! :-)
