about 4 weeks ago i thought i may be pregnant so i took a test and it was -ve and a few days later i started bleeding. 3 1/2 weeks later and im still bleeding. Dr wont do anything about it.
Ive now also lost my voice (almost completely) and it hurts my ears and stomach to talk.
Two completely separate issues but im now feeling so poo and struggling to stay on plan. Exercise is pretty much impossible as the bleeding is making me struggle just to go about normal activity without feeling lightheaded and exhausted.
I dont know what to do.
Have they checked your thyroid levels? And did your doctor do a quantitive beta test to indeed confirm you weren't pregnant? Is a persistent period common for you?
I guess these would be things I'd be pestering my doctor about. You don't want to have been pregnant w/a failing pregnancy (ectopic or the like) and if it were me I'd be asking for the doctor to get off their duff and check especially if bleeding is persisting this long and it's not usual for you. I can hear you on not wanting to do diddly while in this condition. Call said doctor and tell them what you'd like done. You are your own best advocate, if it doesn't feel right let them know.
As for the cold/lost voice issue, tea and honey is what my DH swears by. I do tea and lemon myself. The only thing I can suggest here is fluids, rest and tylenol or ibuprofen as needed. These were the only things that helped me when it wasn't anything but a pest of annoyance.
thanks Lemon
constant bleeding isnt normal for me at all. i live in the UK and sometimes i think DRs refuse to do stuff because we dont "pay upfront" for care unless we go private (which im considering).
i feel like i always have to push push push to get anywhere and its really tiring. The Doc basically said they wont do anything now as all they could do is give me contraceptive pill except they cant because i have migraines so would really risk having a stroke.......
They say its most likely hormonal and that i should eat more oestrogen rich food to fix it...... If that doesnt work after another 8 weeks they will do more investigation.
i just feel drained emotionally and physically.
That's ridiculous! I just went through an early loss, mine was well documented early on with the quantitive betas because I have an autoimmune that requires me to be on blood thinners when pregnant and I have to start in very early pregnancy. That said, I don't understand why the reluctance to have the blood work done to see if you had been pregnant but in the midst of a loss?
Feeling like crap in general can be a sign of thyroid issues. If your visit to the doctor would allow - ask for a TSH and also have your T3 and T4 checked to see where you are at.
I am sorry you don't have access to better help in a timely manner. The whole medicine and insurance worlds drive me bonkers. I don't know what else to offer you for suggestions other than if your clinic or nurse will schedule you for a beta to check and then a repeat one if there is any sort of number greater than a less than 1 in 48 hours to see if you are declining or actually increasing.
By chance have you repeated your pregnancy test on your own?
As for the diet, hang in there - get your body feeling good again and the rest will follow. It looks like you are close to your goal - good work on reaching that!
to be honest ive now given up.
had to leave work early today because im just so exhausted
this doctor doesnt seem to want to help at all.
ill do another test tomorrow morning i think. thanks Lemon, i really appreciate your help
I'm sorry you aren't getting the help you need. Is this one of these things you would have to be seen on an emergency room basis? Do you have persistent pain with your ongoing bleed? Any fever? If so, go in to the doctor come **** or high water you need an answer.
If you've been bleeding that long you might be anemic. Can you see a different doctor?
i now have a cold too...........
i tried for an appointment and was told im not an emergency and it would be mid october.
Not even the nurse will see me.
That's really scary to hear that a doctor refuses to see you, or doesn't consider non-stop bleeding an emergency especially when it's unusual for you and you say your voice is changing. That could be a serious thyroid issue. I'd be furious.
