I haven't seen the add on television. I did see their PlusIsEqueal signs in their windows though. I think the most important point is, "A size is just a number, weight is just a number. Being thin and fit does not make you a better or nicer or kinder or smarter person. Not does being Plus size make you any less nice or kind or smart. You are not "less" of a person because you are "plus size".

I also think it is important to like....wait, love WHO you are. That doesn't mean you have to love HOW you look. If a woman, or anyone for that matter, has a cold or bitter heart it doesn't matter if they are 125 lbs, 225 lbs, or 325 lbs or more, they are still going to be cold and bitter.

Personally, I think a good way to show equality would be to stop having plus sized stores and plus focused ads. Just have stores that offer a wide range of sizes and advertise using a wide range of bodies.

Again with the comparing to Victoria Secret and complaining that the LINGERIE STORE has the LINGERIE MODELS in beds. Lane Bryant the CLOTHING STORE has hired a marketing company to help the public see big women as sexy. Not you accept yourself and love you but the PUBLIC see big as sexy right along side VS that's why they have done this with this disgusting attack ad. That would be why they wrapped them in shape wear(they don't want folks to really see it or they would show the body) put them in high heels and had them strut in there bras WITHOUT TOPS ON SOME focusing on the breast jiggling in only the bra and no pants on... for this CLOTHING STORE not a lingerie store. If any other company did that with straight sizes they would e attacked for it but because they are fat they some how get to do whatever they like and that is were it will all back fire soon enough. Did you know they tried to use #Iamnoangel that was changed to #plusisequal because like most angry big women they can attack others but god forbid someone voice something they do not care for in them! I watched an interview with the models being asked about the #Iamnoangel and they think it's funny. It's embarrassing that these big girls are so insecure and need to compare and compete in order to shine. Leaving anyone with an IQ higher then 82 to lose confidence in them all together. If they want to do sexy then do it and own it and say that is what it is but don't make so many of the clearly insecure heavy women subconsciously start thinking they need to over sexualize themselves to love themselves.

You keep bringing up THE LINGERIE STORE Victoria Secret and the models you clearly have anger towards them. And no reason too they are selling a different product. The VS lingerie models in bed ads make sense. This Lane bryant ad does not they aren't even dressed sooo not selling a product but instead fighting for attention. Take a look at what you've said here do you see how you took back name calling but you are still upset by the women in the VS ads. Why? Is it a threat to you or your situation if thin women want to be sexy? I hope in time you do see there is no reason to upset or have any anger towards any other women for the way they look or feel no matter the size or shape. If you do that is an insecurity in self nothing to do with the other women!!!!!!! Comparing and compete with the only you then you know you're aces.

I think this has been a great example for others here. With all that is told to us and shown in the media we tend to start just regurgitating information someone else has told us without taking time to figure it out for ourselves. Yes love you and your body like the DOVE self acceptance ads years back. But do not let a company like this ad unknowingly help you carve a chip into your shoulder and in time start lashing at other women for looking different then yourself. this ad came in as an attack campaign against VS women and once people started seeing that they quickly tried to swap it into a love yourself campaign.

I don't like it I think it's gross that they feel the need to attack other women. I do not compare or compete with others on appearance soooo that maybe why I view this as I do. I think they've used a common insecurity in A LOT of women to sell this idea/ad campaign. Unknowingly making insecure big girls like yourself start lashing out at Victoria secret and the models. I look forward to the day another ad company comes in and this joke of a campaign is forgotten but not without the public coming forward and giving them grief for attempting to pit women against one another. I think it is time Ashley graham stops representing big women because based of this ad she does not have the genuine self love and love for others that the woman holding this torch needs... there are sooo many great plus/thick/curvy models out there it is time they look else where and I am excited for that day when they show folks how it should be done!

Or dismiss it all and do whatever you like in the end it's your life mmmkbye

The Lane Bryant stores we have here in NYC have very large selections of underwear, bras, lingerie, sleepwear, loungewear and hosiery. It makes perfect sense to me why they would be advertising these items of clothing. I don't know anything about this being backlash to VS but you know what, now that you mention it I am sort of sick of VS. Their clothing does not fit me so I can't shop there and frankly I'm sick of how much airtime they get in commercials, print and billboard space as if they're the only ones allowed to look sexy and pretty. I'm pretty happy seeing somebody that looks more like me once in a blue moon. I may not enjoy VS models in my face all the time but they are beautiful, nobody questions that the way they question plus sized models - objecting to something in principle and being repulsed by it are two very different things.

I kris, first of all I am soooo mad for you that that happened! I cannot believe the gall of that woman making a comment about your jiggle. I don't know what I would've done if that happened to me. Probably I would turn red, mumble and giggle and then go home and cry into a bucket of fried chicken. Getting called out for my body is my worst nightmare. So sorry that happened to you.

Thanks for the link. Side note, the girl in the picture Kelsey has a column on an online magazine that I follow. She's a fellow intuitive eater and she and I see the same nutritional therapist haha. The girl that wrote this post made it sound like a very confusing event, I don't blame her for being disappointed. There are a lot of issues rolled up into this including feminism, sexism, sizeism, and commercialism. It's hard to know where this campaign falls, we must remember that this is about sales and bottom dollars for LB.

To me it sounds like these women went there to feel empowered and instead were inundated with dieting messages. Not well played. There is a world of people out there that cannot imagine self love without weight loss. Because if we love our bodies as they are we get accused of making excuses and being lazy. People don't grasp the concept of someone like me who simultaneously loves my body and yet still is trying to get healthier. It's very confusing.

I don't know what is up with those shirts, that was a dumb move.

It would be nice, I wonder if it will ever happen. In the department stores I shop in the woman's section is never located close to the regular sizes. They're always on a different floor usually next to home goods or furniture. It's humiliating.
