I went to Budapest for the first time last winter and fell in love with the city. So after my trip I started reading Prague, a novel by Arthur Phillips, which is actually about expats trying to make it in Budapest in the years after the fall of communism. I've enjoyed it so far, and especially after having seen most of the sites mentioned in the book the story is very vivid to me.

That sounds great Happynottsgirl. I bet it's beautiful there.

I must have my books mixed up! Glad you put it down though since it was depressing you. Life is hard enough; we don't need stress from reading!

I didn't finish Inside the O'Brian's. It was dragging on for me for some reason.

Thank you for the kind words regarding my weight!

Hope you had a great 4th!

I'm reading Dan Brown's "Inferno" right now... it's pretty good... it's the next book after Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons... I keep picturing Tom Hanks as I read it!

Crimzon 07-16-2015 01:52 PM

It must be a page turner if it's Dan Brown. I'm one of the few who haven't read his books.

Finished up The Circle but skipped ahead. I just lost interest and didn't like the narrator - or anyone else really...lol. Not sure what to pick up next.

I too love to read!

Some great ones I've read recently:
This Is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper (movie was good too, even though the ending changed, it didn't diminish it for me)
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes (have tissues ready)
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell (YA lit, it'll give you 80s flashbacks!)
Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty (she seems to be a favorite of several on this thread)
What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (death narrates; have tissues)
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky (YA, but great for everyone)

I love to read. I haven't had much time lately between work and school, but my favorite Author is Laurell Hamilton. She writes 2 series. 1. (my favorite) Anita Blake series about a bad *** woman vampire hunter. They are all mystery, romance, and awesome all in one! 2. Merry Gentry series, which is about a fairy princess, but not at all what you would think if you don't read it!

If you like books like 50 shades of gray there is an author name Lorelei James who has a great series called roughriders. :)

I just picked up Charlaine Harris's new book. Day Shift. She wrote the True Blood series. So that is next.

Golda: I read the 1st game of thrones book. loved it. Eventually I'll read the rest!

I like Japanese culture and I like to read books about it. Right now I am reading 5 famous kabuki plays. This is an interesting book. It is about kabuki theatre and revolves around 5 popular characters oni, hannya, Jason, noh, slipknot, and joker.

One of the best books I've ever read The Alchemist

The Alchemist (Portuguese: O Alquimista) is a novel by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho that was first published in 1988. Originally written in Portuguese, it has become a widely translated international bestseller. Allegorical novel, The Alchemist follows a young Andalusian shepherd on his journey to the pyramids of Egypt, after having had a recurring dream of finding treasure there.

I rarely read books, but because of my work I have to read all the time. Because I work online, I come across a lot of publications or articles and things like that in a day. Sometimes I have to write these articles, but unfortunately not always enough time. Therefore, when I have a lot of work and on paper writer banal enough time I turn to experts for help.

avensis 05-17-2022 01:02 PM

Lately I haven't had much time to read, but I miss it.

Maxxx17 07-01-2022 04:47 AM

I also began to notice that I began to read less, not enough time unfortunately.

samui 07-07-2022 05:04 AM

Consider

«Moby-Dick, or The Whale» – Herman Melville

The story is told on behalf of the American sailor Ishmael, who has gone on a voyage on the whaling ship Pequod, whose captain, Ahab, is obsessed with taking revenge on the giant white whale, the killer whaler known as Moby Dick.

I believe that reading plays a huge role in life. Books help you learn something new, keep up a conversation, or show off your erudition in company. I didn't really like reading before, but because of school I had to read different kinds of literature. Only when I was more aware of it I realized how important it is, as well as all studies in general. I often used OhhAskMe website, which helped me to solve tasks I could not cope with. And I didn't see it as cheating, on the contrary... They helped me to solve it, and I memorized how to do it.

"Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte is a timeless classic that explores the dark depths of human passion and obsession. The story is set in the desolate moors of Yorkshire, and follows the tumultuous relationships between the Earnshaw and Linton families. Bronte's masterful use of language and vivid imagery creates an eerie and haunting atmosphere throughout the novel. The characters are complex and deeply flawed, making for a gripping and unforgettable read. "Wuthering Heights" is a must-read for anyone who loves Gothic literature or wants to explore the darker side of human nature. I read that book while applying to personal statement residency service

wilber.erickson 04-29-2023 12:41 PM

it is one of his short stories, or novellas (can't remember which atm). When I read it's usually at night, and I've been too tired to do so lately.

Oh, absolutely! I've recently delved into some incredible reads. One gem I stumbled upon was 'The Night Circus' by Erin Morgenstern. It's this enchanting blend of fantasy and romance that just sweeps you away into this magical world. And hey, speaking of books, have you checked out BooksRun https://booksrun.com/ ? It's this fantastic online bookstore where you can find great deals on both new and used textbooks. I've snagged some amazing finds there!

railey 07-06-2023 01:13 PM

I like all books by Sarah Jio. Recently I don't have much time for reading. I'm too tired after work so I choose to watch movie instead of reading a book. I've also came across this amazing tool with the guide how to get access to a great range of movies. So, now I spend my evenings watching movies.

maryglo 09-24-2023 06:25 AM

Nell Harper Lee my favourite one

emilyhlib 03-18-2024 02:29 PM

I haven't read anything interesting lately

krisshelm 03-18-2024 03:41 PM

I haven't read anything interesting lately. I don't have enough time for almost anything now. I am in my last year of college, working at a job and also trying to lose weight. Thanks to the Internet, I found https://ukwritings.com/hrm-essay-help and now it's a little easier for me. However, I still don't have time to read books or even watch movies

evan54 05-12-2024 02:40 PM

I read The Goldfinch last year. I thought it was too long but good.

An excellent read by Eric Larson is In the Garden of Beasts. Very memorable.

I'd like to read King's new novel - the name is escaping me but I just read a favorable review.

I'll definitely look into Let's Pretend this Never Happened since funny memoirs are one of my favorite genres.

Thanks everyone. I hope continue to drop by so we can chat about books!!

I second the recommendation of the Goldfinch by Donna Tartt! Excellent book but yes, long. Now reading another book by her, the Little Friend but it's taking me a while.
