Default Random - Has anyone ever owned a Ford Escape?

I'm looking for a good reliable used car and wondering if anyone has any opinions. Right now I'm driving a 1998 Volvo S70 with 120k miles and I love it to death, but it's really on hospice care at the moment. The engine could probably run for another 200k but I feel like the body might start to give out soon.

Possibly looking for something more in the SUV 4x4 family that won't break the bank.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks in advance.

I have always owned Fords, as has my dad, and they are some tough vehicles!! I've owned my 2001 Ford Focus since 2002 and it's only started to have issues right about the 165,000 mile mark...We've had repairs done and it's at about 173,000 miles right now and we think the original fuel pump just went out the original battery lasted until last winter, as did the original starter, so well over 10 years on all of those....we also have a 2003 Ford Sport Trac Explorer truck and recently got a 2013 or 2014 Ford F150 truck

Thanks, Alaskanlaughter! Word of mouth really counts. I've never owned a Ford, but really loved the look of the Focus. I'm hoping to test drive an Escape tomorrow... Fingers crossed b.c I kinda need a new car (passengers side door doesn't work on the old one... and I have to carry clients around. Yeah. Not ideal)

Very proud owner of a 2009 Escape with 168,000 miles on it. The only issue these have is sway bar linkages - they are part of the front end suspension and they do wear out. I've had to replace mine at about 110K and I suspect they may be ready again. It creates a noise that sounds like lumber being chucked around under the body. I have the 2WD, 4cylinder base vehicle, and it has never had any problems with Michigan winters. I work for a competing car company, have to park out in the middle of nowhere because of it - but I am not giving up my Escape! The 28mpg is a bonus, too.

I own a 2012 4x4 Escape and I love, love, love my vehicle. I have had no problems (knocks wood). Good luck

I also had sway bar linkage problems too, now that I remember back....I had to replace the front end suspension about 6 years ago and then the sway bar linkage maybe a year or two after that...have had no issues with that since then

My parents have a Ford Escape Hybrid and are really happy with it. It's a 2008 (or maybe 2010). At any rate, they haven't had any problems with it! We also have a couple of pool cars at work that are Escapes and they're roomy enough for four adults. I have a Ford Flex, which is a gigantic station wagon. It is nice but too big (7 passenger) for my family of 3.

I just got an Escape a few months ago and I really love it. I had to get used to it because I'd been in an Expedition for so long, but I love how easy it is to park it So far, no complaints.
