Seriously though, I really don't mind the cold and sometimes wish we could see snow for Christmas. Instead, the most I ever get is ice and that's if we purposefully make it on nights it gets to be below freezing, um, maybe 5 nights a year LOL.
80 degrees here today. Frikkin heat wave in December!
Oh and then there is the constant "head cold" threat that I actually think is caused by the cold weather. I think possibly that your body temp drops just a tiny bit letting head colds etc take hold. I have the threat of one now and all i want to do is eat eat eat. And yet... it jut hangs on daily.
I live in New Mexico so usually winters are nice.. but this year we are brutally cold... i hate it,, my dogs hate it... and as for eating.. I want to eat spring , summer winter and fall ..............ha ha ha guess thats why i am in the state i am in.... but this too shall pass
I like winter fine, I just hate the dark. I end up getting SAD by mid-season.
This is me...since starting synthroid and taking vit D supplements its not as bad, i guess its not actually SAD. but the lack of sunlight really runs me down. But I dont mind the cold so much...and we are getting snow right now
I get the SAD as well. Once the temp drops and the light goes away, I get into a funk for a few weeks. Usually I push through it and get back into the gym once I adjust, but i still don't like it!
Yeah winter sucks. I know it's because of winter that summer seems so magical but winter always just feels like I'm doing penance for something awful I did in a past life.
Haha, unlike you all, I hate the summer! It's sweaty, there are too few clothes to cover any chub, summer styles are just ugly, and I never eat anything I really like.
Winter has such delicious low calorie warm and filling meals, wonderful layers with boots and peacoats, and there is no sweat
I'm in the same place Dee is, and I like it here, too. The dark can be a bummer, and we live on the north side of a hill, so I get NO direct sunlight in my house in winter (and I'm home all day). That can be tough. Having it be dark when I wake up and dark by dinner can also be tough. But it's not so bad, since I'm never hot during the winter and the sun glinting off ice is SO pretty
I have found a Eagle River winters much more manageable than Juneau winters, it's drier and sunnier here. Juneau was depressingly slushy for me tastes!
I live in a valley, so we get these temperature "inversions". It keeps the cold trapped. So, we've spent the past week or so with highs in the teens and low 20's. I think everyone has lost perspective. The guy on the radio said it wasn't too bad, that the temperature was 15. No, that's cold. It is still BAD!
I hate the ice, love the thermostat up, and ideally would go for three Snow Days a year ~ a time when all my kiddies get a day off from school, and I get a day off from Life. Not 30 snow days, not ice days, not hail days, not power outage days, not NO snow days. Three. One for each month of the winter. Am I spoiled or what?
it snows here at the end of October and doesn't melt until April....unless we get a super warm spell and then it melts off, rains and then snows again...so far this year we've had a cold snap, then a snowstorm with up to a foot of snow, then another cold snap, now another snowstorm with up to 24 inches of snow expected...so far about 15 or so inches have fallen and a lot of rainy slush falling too...roads vary from slush to frozen slush and ice...i went out in the yard today and post-holed my way through the yard to try to fix a broken gate....that was unpleasant

the district WILL NOT call a snow day here despite having good reason to twice....their policies say they will call a snow day if sidewalks are not clear, forcing students to walk in the road...twice now we have had big dumps of snow overnight and no roads plowed, no sidewalks clear, drains plugged with snow so slush forms huge lakes in the roads...and STILL NO SNOW DAY!!
I hate winter, too! The dark makes me have no energy, and the snow and ice is just extremely, uhm, inconvenient. And the cold.... ugh, I can't stand it!
Luckily, this winter has been nice so far. Sad thing is, I want a white christmas because it just feels right, but it actually doesn't look like it's gonna happen this year.
Mis.er.a.ble here! So frakking cold (at least to me.) I'm comfortable outside only briefly in the Spring and briefly in the Fall. Honestly, I should just live in a biodome year-round.
