Default Losing a pet!

I don't post in this thread much, but today was one of those days at the vet hospital where I work.

A first time client, that came in last week, I held their Min Pin, chihuahua cross this morning, while it passed from congestive heart failure.

It was their first ever pet, they knew he had heart problem but were not expecting this, he was only 6.

The hardest part of my job, is when people lose a pet. I hate that.

Our vet was in surgery and I did a couple of quick checks, and knew we could not do anything for this poor pup.

I am the Kleenex queen, every time this happens.

Aww that's so sad. I would feel the same way, for sure. I have a chiweenie (chihuahua and daschund mix) and she is my baby! (besides my real baby of course) and I'm sure the family felt the same way. I love animals so I would be no good at that job.

Thanks!

Most days my job is good.

We deliver babies, fix stuff, cure normal ailments.

But some days, there is nothing we can do but pass the Kleenex and offer hugs and such!

It's just tough when they die in your arms while the owner stands by in tears.

Just wanna say that you're incredibly strong for being able to do that part of your job, I don't think I could handle it at all! I'd cry like a baby

God bless you for the work that you do, that is wonderful that you give the gift of caring and helping animals to others.

I worked in a vet's office before and seeing animals going through difficult times is difficult, I agree.

To this day, I still remember losing pets that I had, interesting that I had a dream about one of them last night. I think a lot of these animals are furry angels.

Again, my hat goes off to you for all that you do. Take care.

I can feel your pain through your post. It is hard losing a beloved family member...and 6 years is young. You helped him transition from this world and that is a very humbling experience. It takes a lot of compassion to do what you do.

You were in the right place when you were needed.

I work in Healthcare and I too can be a Tissue Queen....I try to hold it in....until I am alone....I also cry at sappy movies...just my nature ...I have tried to change it but can't.

Animals ask for so little out of us ....but enhance our lives with their love and devotion.

Thank you for being so compassionate and having a great love for animals.
you did a great thing

Everything dies.
And it's sad.
