  • As you might know, FB is full of ads these days. So I am scrolling down my news feed and what do I see??????!!! A Macy's ad saying how nice is to have this dress for all the sizes. Then I look at the picture and I see your typical model and a very normal size woman that is supposed to be plus size.

Are you kidding me????? I actually think she looks way better than the "normal" model but I just find it ridiculous that this very slim woman would be use for a plus size ad. That tells you how f up the fashion industry is...

  • Hmm. They are shooting themselves in the foot there because Macy's sells some of the best clothes for big and tall I have ever found, at least for men.
  • I didn't know Macy's carries B&T. Need to send my husband there because he always has a hard time finding anything good...
  • It turns me off to see skinny women modeling plus size clothes---- well I guess they aren't actual plus size clothes in this case! This is more of a case that they are showing you the shape and pattern of the dress except it will be a bigger one sent to you! I want to see how the clothes are going to fit on me, not a thinner person.

I don't love Lane Bryant's clothes even though I do own quite a few items of theirs. But I do love their website with bigger women models wearing their actual clothes. Granted they seem to be fit bigger women (or have access to Spanx etc.), I at least get an honest depiction of what the outfit might look like on me.
  • I agree!!! The "plus size" look more like a 10-12 to me... And with vanity size she might even be an 8! Her legs are amazing! And she looks just fine, not plus size at all.

I guess you can't never get an idea looking at pictures... It just bothers me that she is being use as plus size...

    I quite agree.
  • IA. I put that up there with those ads for reducing wrinkles on a 20 somethiing model who has no wrinkles. LOL.
  • Quote: I think she's probably just really tall, and the dress is a flattering style. She could be plus sized. She's not obese, but she could still be in the plus sizes. A +model is still going to be as airbrushed and smoothed out and flawless as the slender ones. We have to keep that in mind.
Jez, quit clouding the issue with facts. LOL.

I didn't know that about Macy'. I only knew about Dillards B&T.
  • I've heard that plus size models are usually size 12 or 14, not the size 20+ that we might generally consider a plus size.

I do like that sites that also let buyers send in photos wearing the clothes, like Kiyonna and Igigi.

Ohhh I didn't know that!! Thanks for the info!!!
  • There's no way she's plus size, I don't care what anyone says. Plus size is 18+

Plus size models are generally size 10-12, sometimes 8. Crazy but true.

You're welcome. Most will give you their height and size too, and pinupgirlclothing poses their plus size stuff on plus models, and they give you the model's measurements.
