Slowly realizing the impact of what's happened - thanks to some uber paranoid commentators who assume conspiracy at the mafia level.

Glad I'm not a Miami taxpayer right now; I'd be p*ssed for sure.

I hear the Marlins are gonna go pick up Manny....

At least that's the lie I'm spreading....lol

BillBlueEyes 11-15-2012 07:46 AM

Love it! Manny is signing with the Marlins.

Must be true, I got it on the Web.

I'm a happy camper :carrot:.

Just booked our Cardinals Winter Warm Up weekend. We decided to stay 2 nights this time.

Clydegirl 11-16-2012 09:07 AM

I might have to get one of these.

As a Marlins fan, I can say that it definitely has its ups and downs. It is frustrating, for sure.

Its great that in such a short time the Marlins have won two world championships. But the bad thing is that the ownership is so quick to pull the plug and hold a fire sale if things don't go well. And when they do that, they almost never get adequate value for the players they get rid of. (Case in point, they traded MVP Miguel Cabrera -- for nothing -- because they didn't want to pay him they money he would have been worth once he was up for contract.) They will probably do the same thing with Stanton once he is up for contract in a couple years.

It must be nice to be a Cardinals fan and root for a team that has ownership and management that knows what they are doing.

Hi Joe, welcome to the baseball thread.

We like to keep the chatter going even in the off-season.

Have you been to the new stadium?

Thanks! No, I've driven past it, but have not been there. My daughters went there on a field trip over the summer and got to see a game. My friends who have gone said it is a beautiful stadium (except for the hideous home run feature -- which didn't get that much use this past season).

There is a lot of people upset with the Marlins' organization for their recent moves. There is a lot of distrust because they've done this in the past. I'm worried that good players are going to be discouraged from ever signing with the Marlins if they show such a lack of stability. Also, the great players we develop (and their are very few of them) won't stick around long term. Stanton has already said he's pissed off by the moves. I already expect that when he comes up for contract he'll be gone -- just like Miguel Cabrera is. Some lucky team will be happy to take him off our hands.

Joe, yes it doesn't bode well trying to sign free agents, especially with them not giving players a no-trade clause.

I just heard Melky Cabrera signed with the Blue Jays. Who's next on their list?

I don't know, but they are definitely making a statement to the AL East! The Yankees and Red Sox will have a very good team to contend with next season.

I got nuthin right now. A little distracted by football and the awesome Broncos!

But wanted to say hi to Joe! Thanks for the insight into your Marlins world.

Stan "The Man" Musial turns 92 today.

The best Cardinal player ever.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my baseball buds.

So FOX is on the verge of paying my DODGERS 6 BILLION DOLLARS, at about 250 MILLION a year for the next 25 years...possibly more!

And we haven't won anything since '88!

And to think FOX once bought us for a mere 350 MILLION

KRAAAZZZZYYYY.....
