Looking for waffle ideas

  • I am looking for waffle topping ideas for the rare times I want a waffle.

    I'm not a syrup fan. Since I'm trying to lose weight, that isn't a good choice anyway.

    Do you have any tasty ideas? Please share them! Thank you.
  • Sometimes I just do a little margarine, or some sugar free jam/jelly. Fresh fruit works too.
  • Sugar free jelly/ perserves is what I have been doing...but....Hmm....wondering if you could infuse something with vanilla? Maybe some kind of agave or something? Any ideas??
  • Hmmm . . . have been thinking about this more today . . . instead of a healthy variety of store-bought waffle, maybe I could create a recipe for one that is soooo yummy that it doesn't need a topping . . .

    Or an applesauce-based topping . . .
  • Peanut butter and banana. Waffle sandwich!
  • I eat a multigrain waffle with a little bit of peanut butter for breakfast. Sticks with me and is so yummy. I never crave syrup!

  • I just put a little butter or sugar free jam, doesn't need syrup.
  • Homemade SF apple butter warmed up with a little PB makes a delicious moist "syrup" like topping. I don't care for syrup but I want that moistness so that's what I do. Ultra low-fat cream cheese spread is tasty as well and honey is heaven on a waffle with some banana! yuuuum!

    If you heat up some berries with a sweetener in a pot or the microwave, they get all gooey saucy and spreadable.
